Had a nice brunch there Sunday. Shared chicken liver pâté and had the crust less quiche. Overall it’s was good,
Celebrating a delicious taste and touch of Paris! Highly recommend!!
Orsay is usually one of my faves but this last time fell a bit short on the food front. They seemed to be a bit overwhelmed during lunch and that may have contributed to it.
Outdoor seating area is appealing, but Orsay seems to have raised their prices and altered their lunch menu so there are limited options for anyone not wanting to spend at least $30 for small portions of mediocre food. On top of that, surly waitress messed up order. Would not return.
this is an iconic and delightful slice of Paris in NY. Worth the trip every time we come to the city. Delicious French food with sidewalk dining that makes you feel like you're "in" the neighborhood. But our server was unusually"off" he was short-tempered, not engaged nor the least bit charming, almost put upon by having to serve us. Perhaps a bad night? But then to slam down the dishes at our place and dismiss us to another server for the completion of our meal? Really atypical for this otherwise perfect spring evening dinner.
They put 6 of us around a too small table and the four top next to us was quite loud and probably were over served.
The food was so wonderful!
The food was incredible. And considering it was Mother's Day, everything was amazingly fresh and well prepared. Overall, we had a lovely time and a wonderful, albeit pricey, experience.
We went on Mother’s Day. Everyone was lovely and helpful. The food was delicious and presented well. Thanks for a lovely experience.
Overpriced and food not impressive. chicken was dry / bland and peppercorn sauce had weird taste. The steak was tasty
Always a favorite spot for special occasions and celebrations. The food is delicious and the team there is wonderful.
The food was very good, service was friendly and helpful.
Great food, as always, and good service. It was a lovely day, and a lovely lunch, by all accounts!
Excellent food, excellent service - highly recommend it
I go here twice a week. My local spot.
We had a 6PM reservation, and due to COVID we were told we had 1 hour to dine at an outdoor table for 2. Our waiter asked for our drink orders before we had even settled into our seats. We then ordered a cheese plate to share and two main courses. The unappealing cheese plate arrived with 4 small slivers of cheese and a gangly sprig of elderberries. No honey, or jam, or nuts, olives, nothing to make it special. We asked for someone to identify the cheeses, but no one came and we ate three of them ( uninspired) and the 4th, a hard wedge of yellow rind was too hard to cut or Cleve. We asked for it to be replaced and the maître d' came to the table, told us we didn't understand that it was a parmesan, and said he wouldn't replace it. After we both looked at him incredulously, he delivered another sliver of cheese and laid it on top of my husbands bread dish. After this embarrassment, we waited until 7:25, and still hadn't gotten our main courses. Those around us were eating, so there was clearly a mistake with our dinner. We cancelled the dinner and asked for our check at 7:30. We received an unadjusted check for $68.00 for the drinks and cheese and no apologies or courtesies and left vowing never to come back. We could never recommend Orsay based on our experience.
One of my absolute favorite places. Good always great, staff always courteous!
Great service. Fresh yummy seafood. Dinner and Sunday brunch were very nice. Must try!
Always great food and service. It is our neighborhood 'go-to" . They have done a great job making patrons comfortable with excellent partitions and table distance. It has the effect of making the space more intimate.
A very nice "outdoor dining" situation. We were comfortably separated from other diners, out of the wind and had one excellent experience. The fresh baked bread is an extra special treat. Fries could be a bit crisper - but overall meal was great.
Watch out. They don't have menus. They have that dopey little box with spots on it that you can't read; you're supposed to have your phone take a picture of it and read the menu from that little screen on your phone. If you resist, at least they'll bring you an iPad-sized device that has their menu on it.
My friends and I enjoyed the evening very much. From the superb bread with salted butter to my unbelievable (really) cheeseburger & fries, it was a great experience.
Excellent food and service. Dined outside because of Covid-19. Much more pleasant in their beautiful dining room.
Very nice classic French restaurant on the UES. They've done a great job accommodating for Covid restrictions and we felt very comfortable while there. Shrimp bisque was good but a bit on the thin side while the Tricolor salad was fresh and tasty. But be prepared to open your wallet for the experience; Orsay is not inexpensive.
A beautiful Sunday brunch with friends and family on Sunday. It was a superb venue with delightful food, and great service....a perfect combination
It is a good standard. I always enjoy being there.
The accommodations, even under Covid were very good. I had a salmon which was cooked perfectly.
A wonderful place, great menu, delicios food, fabulous service. Can not eat to go back, time and again
An absolutely beautiful, delicious, relaxing weekend lunch in a perfect French setting! Not to be missed!!
Outside dining perfection. Food and service amazing. I had the escargot and burrata cheese w white asparagus. Decor and heaters outside. And crowd was excited to be there.
Service was excellent and no pressure how long we sat for lunch
They didn’t try to kick us out
Cream of mushroom soup amazing as well as steak au poivre
Generally good food. When busy service is a little lax.
We had been meaning to try Orsay since I moved in around the corner and finally did so on Wednesday night. We had an 8:00 PM reservation but they were able to accommodate us inside at 7:40, which was great. The service was incredible - our water glass was never empty and multiple servers checked on us several times throughout our meal. Our food came quickly without feeling rushed and was delicious. The dressing on the mixed green salad was phenomenal and the escargot was cooked perfectly. Our wine was similarly delicious and rounded out our meal well. We will definitely be back!
As a French expat, when I crave French cuisine, it has to be authentic, delicious and in a gorgeous decor. Check on all counts with Orsay! The Art Deco transports me to Paris, in one of my favorite brasseries there, and the food is impeccable as well. Service with a French accent adds to the atmosphere of authenticity. I had to have the Ile Flottante, a divine chilled vanilla custard topped with a cloud of poached whipped egg whites covered in almond dust. So worth it.
Good setup for pandemic. Choices limited, different than “before “ menu and pricier. Waiter was all over me while waiting for my friend, then absent when we wanted to order wine, then wanted whole order, when said not ready, absent again, and again when wine in bucket not right next to us needed refills. They were rather busy, but suit types walking by seemed not to be much help., to us or wait staff.
But food tasty and waiter pleasant when present.
Love the food and the ambience. I wish there were a few intermediary kinds of offerings for lunch, somewhere between having soup or an appetizer, and having a full entrée. There is the burger, but for people who do not eat red meat, that’s a limitation. Maybe some special sandwiches would be nice.
Good neighborhood restaurant - bistro menu
Consistent good service, food and lively atmosphere
Great place for a nice, quiet brunch or dinner. I have been here several times with friends that live in the area. A French bistro style combined with excellent service, tasty nicely presented meals, and a great wine list make this place a gem.
Great food and great outdoor setup
food was cold, escargot cold, fries cold, artichoke overdone and cold, bottled water + glassware smelled like wet dog
Always a tres francais brunch experience.
