Great place! Good is fresh and delicious.

We went for a special Valentine's Day meal, so we didn't opt for the pizza, though it looked good. My steak, which was grilled, was outstandingly tender, and the accompanying vegetables, also grilled, were fresh and tender. The burata appetizer was soft and succulent. The tiramisu, our favorite dessert, was a little different on top, but still pleased us traditionalists. The staff was friendly and clearly elated to have customers returning to indoor dining. each booth was separated with a barrier.

DECEMBER 2020 OUTDOOR DINING:

I came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday (she loves Italian food) and I researched a lot of places before choosing Ortomare, mostly due to their reviews. I am so happy with my decision. For what it was (sitting outside in 35 degree weather) it was perfect.

FOOD: First, we shared one of their Neapolitan style margherita pies. The crust was perfectly charred and crispy and the sauce and cheese was well balanced and outstanding. We asked for truffle oil to be added and it took the pie to the next level. For the entree, I had the wild mushroom and spinach fettuccine and my friend had a customized chicken Alfredo pasta which they graciously accommodated exactly to her liking. The freshness and flavors of the pasta dishes was delicious.

We finished the evening with chocolate cake and peppermint tea...I asked if they could put a candle in it and they did...and even sang to her.

SERVICE: All in all couldn’t have asked for a better experience. They truly went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of and we never felt rushed or pressured. It was such a great experience during these crazy times.

I will definitely be returning and recommending this place and wish them continued success. If they took such great care of us under lockdown I can only imagine how great the experience would be for indoor dining. Thank you Ortomare!

I found Ortomare Pizzeria on Open Table, and am so glad that I decided to try it! They currently have a nice selection of outdoor tables with lovely decor. I had the beet salad to start. It was served over spinach and also featured oranges and walnuts. It was delicious. I then had the pizza vegeteriana, which came with mozzarella, eggplant, red peppers and zucchini. It was honestly one of the best pizzas that I've ever had! I finished with the homemade chocolate cake served with vanilla ice cream. It was just heavenly. People nearby saw me eating it and decided to order it, too. The service was terrific and the prices were extremely reasonable. It's the best restaurant in the area!

Ortomare is so wonderful. The food is great, the service is great, and, more than anything, you really feel appreciated. I love this place ❤️

A great addition to the local restaurant choices. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. The food is flavorful and well presented. I had the fish special (dorade) and it was cooked to exactly the right point. We have eaten here twice (live in the neighborhood) and will definitely be returning.

Me and my family had a great dinner on Tuesday night.
We shared a couple of fresh salads to start. I had their assorted vegetable pizza which was excellent and their daily special gnocchi with black truffle sauce. Excellent as well.

Menu and service both as one expects, delicious and attentive! The choices are varied, offering something for our vegan guest as well as for we carnivores. A trusted neighborhood restaurant.

this was our first time there and it was very quiet which we like. Eddie, the manager, greeted us and checked on us throughout the meal. we like the wood burning oven for our pizza dinner which was very good. the waitstaff was very attentive and we were quite pleased with it all. we plan to come back soon and bring friends with us.

Delicious dinner at Ortomare. The seafood pasta was very tasty. And the pizza with broccoli rabe and sausage was amazing.

In NYC for a show with the family and decided to dine Italian. Ortomare showed up on OpenTable and we decided it give it a try. Not a large menu, which is perfect for me, and the food was amazing!

We love Ortomare....Always is a great experience. The food is excellent and the ambiance is very nice. This restaurant is a gem in Upper West Side..... I had the chocolate lava cake. The best I ever had......enjoyed it immensely!

Always a great option for great Italian homemade food....Have been coming here since they opened and never disappointed. Tartufata Pizza is my favorite.

Everything was outstanding. Every dish was absolutely delicious. I had the Tartufata pizza which was delicious and unique. And of course the wood fired pizza oven is very attractive. My son had the Homemade pappardelle pasta with asparagus and shrimp which he enjoyed very much. The portions were pretty large and the price very reasonable for a NYC restaurant.

This is a very cozy place. The food is delicious and the service is super friendly. I had the Red beets and spinach salad with walnuts and goat cheese. Was delicious. I also got the Homemade linguine with clams which were cooked perfectly. Everything was fantastic!

Great Gluten Free Options.
I enjoyed the gluten free pasta and my husband got the Branzino which was cooked perfectly. And the 25% on the bottle of wine was a great deal to have.
Will be back soon. We love Ortomare!

Great variety of choices on the menu including wood fire pizza oven. The pasta was homemade and delicious! The waiters were extremely attentive even on this busy New Year’s Eve.

A Five star experience for a family gathering. Having lived and worked in Italy, I have come to appreciate restaurants that have the informal air of many of the best Roman osteria, good food, good value, nice service without pretension. Orto mare fits the bill perfectly. Excellent appetizers, carciofi e zucchini. ortomaro - sea food and zucchini, pasta, rigatoni (perfectly al dente) alla Norma (with eggplant) and Ragu Bolognese, a well priced wine list and excellent desserts made in casa. In short for the price a real find. One hint: improve the bread, everything else is excellent.

A very nice team greeted us at Ortomare. The food was very good - wonderful salad and good pizza. Pasta looked great - we will try next time.

The food is not fancy fare: just good Italian cooking. The restaurant was quite full on Saturday night at 7, and the noise level was higher than we like. But the waitstaff were friendly, and the ambiance was happy. We live in the neighborhood and will definitely go again.

The food was fantastic. Pizza was great and the penne w/ vodka sauce was delicious. Can’t recommend it more. Will come back next time I am in town.

Our local go-to restaurant. The luncheon menu is $14.99, a great value for an appetizer and pasta dish. The food is always flavorful. Combine the Polpettine with pasta for a hearty meal. For dinner, we usually order the specials, ragus, fish, burrata, whatever. It is always reliably delicious and reasonably priced. Try the Carciofi e Zucchine appetizer. Full bar, limited menu and very attentive service. Always a solid choice.
