Shockingly over priced and very average food...
Very slow service who seem overworked.
$31 for 2 zucchini flowers, $57 for a small portion of under seasoned pasta with Morton Bay Bugs which was very plain and tasteless. Their special was a lobster pasta which one of our party got, very small, and average again and cost $105.
They even gave us bread and charged us $39 for 6 slices of sourdough. Place is laughable.
Save your money and go to any of the good restaurants along the water there. Could have went to china Doll twice for what we paid at OTTO for a very average at best lunch.
Trading off a reputation that is not at all deserved. Probably the worst value meal I've had in Sydney. We were all very disappointed with the food and left in shock by the bill. Don't waste your money - your local Uber Eats would be better.
We had reservations but our waitress was overwhelmed. one of us got the 7 course tasting menu but after 2 hours we had only 3 of the courses. We had her box the rest to take but it was clearly a waste of money for us. The sommelier was excellent and very helpful. I thought the food was good but our experience wasn't worth the cost. This was on a sunday night.

Otto is very much a ‘special occasion’ dining experience given the prices. $35 for an entree of pasta and $17for a very small rocket salad is truly expensive. However for a birthday treat we had our credit cards duly charged and at the ready. The service is excellent, welcoming and easily some of the least fussy around but providing everything quickly and with always a smile. Food delicious and tables far enough apart so you don’t feel you are dining with others at their table. Also not being hustled out and having a truly leisurable meal made for one of our best dining experiences in a very long time. Sydney restaurants have become in most instances now, a very loud and quick experience that the concept of actually ‘dining put’ has almost disappeared and been replaced with ‘eating out’ an entirely different experience altogether. Hurrah for Otto who still want you to dine out as opposed to just eating out with them! Extra points too for still using tablecloths!
It was really great for the family dinner occasion we had there but overall its pretty expensive so you will need to consider that if you are attending - its the only restaurant I can ever recall being charged for bread.
Anyway - despite the cost the waiter was excellent!
A great Christmas Eve dinner with family - we were seated outside on the terrace on a balmy night and had a fabulous meal along with great wines. Tasty seafood apps and scrumptious entrees were had by all. Highly recommend!
The waiter wasn’t as helpful while we were ordering and then got distracted and forgot 2 dishes.
The service was excellent, the food very ordinary (honestly... one of us had the chicken that looked like a $12 pub schnitzel). The price outrageous for the overall experience. Way to loud and clangy. If you want fine dining at a high price, Otto doesn't come close. It's more like a trendy bistro, and should charge the prices to match.
We have been to Otto before but have to say this by far was the worst meal we had anywhere in a long time.
We were a party of 6 and all had pasta mains. Each dish was not as described on menu. tasteless and unappealing. We left feeling thirsty for hours after wondering if msg had been added to the food. The four guests could not believe I recommended this restaurant. So my husband and I left feeling embarrassed forking our the whole bill. You guys need to do significantly better if you are supposed to be the premium Italian restaurant. Not coming back!!

Food good. Service excellent but for a $500 bill for 3 people and a small ask to help make it more of a special occasion I probably won't return.
It was a busy Friday lunch and our service was very slow to the point that I missed the salmon pasta special and my second choice ( pasta with pippies) was dead boring. No liquid- oil or sauce at all and it was just dry and unappetising. Our wine bottle was out of reach and we had empty glasses and needed to ask for refills when main was finished. Would not go back again, it was my husbands birthday lunch and it was disappointing.
Limited but delicious vegan menu - the beetroot ravioli is incredible! Worth it for a special occasion.

Great location looking out towards the CBD. A real challenge to decide what to select, given this was our last night in Sydney. The stuffed chargrilled calamari was perfectly balanced for flavour and cooked to just the right degree. The Byron Bay pork cutlet was excellent, and we enjoyed not only roasted cauliflower but also the available (but not menu listed) French fries!

I have lived in Sydney and used to go to Otto quite often. I have lived overseas and continue to go to Otto every time I'm back. Over a few decades, the place has never let me down. I'll be back. Again and again.
Service was a total disjointed mess. Took so long to get our drinks and food. Servers were really indifferent and seemed harried. They wouldn’t seat us outside even though there were tables available during our entire meal. Food was fine when we finally got it, but not good enough to make up for the service. Wouldn’t recommend.
We had our work Christmas party (only 4 people!) but loved the service, the atmosphere and the food.

From the moment we arrived the staff were most welcoming. Lovely table with views to city skyline and water. The only negative of the whole afternoon was that the spatchcock was a little bit dry, but overall it was a wonderful dining experience.
We enjoyed our dining experience at Otto for the waterfront location and ambience. However the sirloin steak was of poor quality and very over priced. The rissotto was delicious and reasonable price. The desserts were creative and tasty. Altogether a very expensive meal for what we ordered. We would probably not be inclined to return.
Have been to Otto quite a bit recentl. Really like it but last night was really poor. It was busy but always is, yet the service was so so slow. The food very average, over cooked steak, mind you nobody in Sydney cooks steak as you order it, is always overdone. Food was cold had been standing.Pasta with a bit of seafood outrageously priced $35 for an entree for pasta tomato and chilli and bit of seafood.
Dessert really good. wines good list, but a lot young and high prices.
My wife surprised me with a Birthday lunch at OTTO, where we had a nicely placed table front of house. Our Italian waiter was happy and attended to us with a pleasant sense of humour and professionalism. The wine waiter was enthusiastically informative and nicely confident, he wasn't pushy giving time to advise us on several excellent Italian wines from which we made our selection.
As we have found previously, the food was just sensational and generous with the whole experience forming an indelible memory for my birthday.
From the time we arrived to the time we left the service was very warm; the staff had knowledge and understanding of the menu and wine list. Great ambience. It is obviously set in a great location. A very enjoyable day.
Delicious food and exceptional service
After arriving & feeling like they didn’t have our booking, it got off to a slow start, but, once we got service it went well from there. Helpful, attentive wait staff, an apologetic sommelier when the wine we ordered had not arrived. Beautiful, beautiful food, absolutely nothing to complain about with the food at all.
Loved the food, the service and the location (great waterfront views). It’s the perfect lunch spot for any special occasion! Definitely coming back again :)
A truly great meal. The calamari and the gnocchi were exquisite. Everything from the bread through the desserts was well prepared, flavorful and well presented. I am not a dessert person, bu they do deserve special mention.
The vegan menu drew me to this restaurant. It meant i had choices. The food was delicious. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. It was a most pleasurable experience.
We asked to be moved to a corner side-by-side table and it was no trouble. Great having a sommelier who knows his wine.
