Our mission at Passione Emporio is to create a neighborhood restaurant that has the same feel of community and quality as old village Emporios. We source only the best local ingredients and craft them with traditional Italian recipes to make delicious food, with vegan options, along with an authentic array of Italian and locally sourced food and wine.

We were in town celebrating a Berkeley graduate and a birthday. We booked a table for 6 for the occasion. The food and drinks were fabulous! Servers were Knowledgeable and very kind. The only issue was they were terribly understaffed and for the amazing quality of food the servers really needed support staff - a hostess or busser. They also allow walk-ins for gelato and coffee so they would get tied up helping these guests. The music selection was odd for the venue also. A more thoughtful curation of music would elevate the experience. The sun was setting and the dining room could have benefited from a window shade of some kind. The sunlight bouncing off of the building across the street was so bright it was almost uncomfortable. I would definitely recommend, but expect slow service. Imagine you’re dining in Europe and you only get help from your server when you ask for it!

Reminds me of osterias in the suburbs of Milan, where I once loved. The food was perfect. The service was warm and friendly but brisk and elegant—professional in a way that few American restaurateurs seem to strike. We had mussels & clams, insalata primavera, and gnocchi con pepe. The strawberry gelato is not to be missed. And I covet their brilliant red chairs.

Amazing food! The owner came out and spoke to us. The pasta is all handmade and you can see them cooking the pizzas right in front of you. It was high quality ingredients. Definitely a must see!

The Guazzetto di Cozze Vongole was so salty I could barely drink the broth. The whole pizza bottom crust was completely soggy. A large group came in after us and our waiter wanted to get our order in before them. I think our soup was made hastily. I would have sent back but. would have taken to long for replacement. I think pizza was left to sit out hence bottom crust awful. I had the soup a week ago and I loved it. But this time awful and so salty I couldn't taste the spices in the broth

Poorly trained staff. Half hour wait for just the salad (lunchtime midweek with only 2 other patrons dining). Finally, small pizza arrived which was very mediocre. 1 1/2 hours for those 2 items. Don't try it if you are on your lunch break. The menu said pizza was $14. The waiter charged us $18. The only explanation is the menu hasn't been updated! No apologies. Just insisted we pay it which we did. We went for lunch to try it out before we committed to restaurant week dinner in Berkeley. So glad we did. Very industrial-cafeteria feel to the place which is fine, but not for a special dinner.

My girlfriend and I went there for the Valentine's Day special menu. Super impressed! The food was amazing, excellent quality, prepared expertly, and plated beautifully as well. Not crazy expensive either. We'll definitely be back!

Wanted to love this little out-of-the-way place. The restaurant is nice, contemporary with high ceilings. The server was lovely. Service excellent only one problem is the food. it was very mediocre. my friends had pizza, nothing interesting or special. crust soggy, tons of cheese, and flavorless. no herbs or spices. I had linguine and clams. the pasta was not warm, clams around the edge with a few tomatoes. I had to doctor it up with cheese, lemon, ( who puts cheese on clam pasta). Passione get your cooking together. you have the potential for a fabulous restaurant!

Oh dear lord what a jewel in west Berkeley My daughter and I had the house salad and pizza. The portions were generous. I had pizza with lox. It was grand! We decided to have dessert and the cannoli and gelato was delicious (there were two cannoli) Yum yummy Our waiter was very nice and the food came out quickly. I recommend it.

This is fine Italian dining for the 21st century: healthy, generous, delicious offerings in a very clean, light venue. We enjoyed a colorful and fun autumn salad, duck breast and tagliatelle mains, good wines, and exceptionally tasty gelato & creme brulee desserts.

A small gem which provides delicious food, friendly service and a good value. Tables are indoors but spaced well, with appropriate COVID precautions. Well worth a try, especially the grilled octopus and lasagna.

A great new addition to Berkeley's restaurant scene! The food is authentic Italian, the pasta is home-made and all of the ingredients are fresh and of great quality. The menu is well put together, not too big and features Italian classics you would find on a menu in an Osteria in Italy. We had the calamari, the chicken marsala and the lasagna and they were all excellent. Everything is very reasonably priced and you get a lot of food for your money. The service was very fast, attentive and professional.
