We were sitting at our table for an hour and half and had only been served our drinks and two appetizers. The restaurant had a private event going on at the same time and clearly was unable to serve its regular guests and the event efficiently. I ordered the chicken which came lukewarm and undercooked. My bf ordered the steak shashlik which was dry and tough. The waitress did not give us a heads up that the kitchen was backed up and no one came to apologize to our party of 7. There are better restaurants in this area that deserve your service.
Pera is a Soho hotspot for the trendy. Well, that's great. Except, for the food and service leave much to be desired. Pretty much everything we ordered had a problem. The apricot margarita was made from a mixer and tasted bad - the waiter took it back when I asked him to. The basic fried calamari appetizer we ordered was soft and oily. The entrees literally came when we had begun eating our appetizers - within 10 mins of the appetizers being served. The waiter wanted to put these on our crowded table and leave it there - but we got him to take it inside and he said he would keep it warm. Well, my friend and my salmon didn't taste that great. My husband got the wrong order and had to wait for the right one to be made. Even the baklava for dessert left much to be desired - in a Mediterranean restaurant...?!
Well, as I said, the place is great for people-watching - so eat first and then go!
Love the garden setting. Food was great, the waiter easily amused.
They’d not give us a seating outdoors even though we reserved it, they said it was fully booked even though no one was there. Food quality is terrible for the price, but that’s gone down I’m most places post pandemic. Cocktails were flat.
Horrible experience, rat in the restaurant, bad service and waiters were rude and we’re basically kicking us out.
The food was cold and eggs were over cooked. They told us they ran out of bacon but we were there early in the morning for brunch. The service was very slow. I would not return.
The food was not that good and the service was disappointing. The salmon was over cooked and cold. The steaks were dry and the chicken was not that good. The appetizers; artichoke hearts, calamari and burratta with roasted peaches were very good. The servers were over worked that night as the restaurant was very busy. Might of been just a bad night but most likely will not go back
Waiter neglected us for over an hour and then was extremely bothered when paying the bill. Not returning
There was a horrible smell in the indoor dining area.
We waited 1 hour and 45 minutes for our main course.
Very pretty restaurant, but the food was bland and specifically our seafood dish wasn't fresh and had to be sent back. For the price point, I would not recommend.
Do not skip the calamari or the hummus! Excellent pitchers of apricot margaritas / sangria
I feel that covid has taken its toll. First time there in 2 years - the courtyard used to be so lovely. Now is jammed. Can understand due to covid but still less pleasant. Also, we both thought a dish was bad and had to send it back. Waiter said it wouldn't be on the bill but it was. Oddly, menu was much less Turkish - even had Scottish Salmon!?
Let's start with being told by the host, that I couldn't be seated at 10:26am for my 10:30 reservation because i was too early. Then...despite having a reservation and calling in advanced, I was being seated indoors. I requested the day prior to have courtyard seating. The was no annotation to my reservation to reflect that. I was there at opening at 10:30am with an empty courtyard and given this nonsense about how it was full and that I had to leave by noon if I were to sit outside.
When ordering the steak and eggs, I was not given a choice of temperature for the preparation for my meat. I was told that it was already marinated and that they all were cooked the same way. When I asked what the same way was, he couldn't tell me if it was medium rare, medium, or well done. How does the marinade explain why I can't select temperature?
And lastly, I asked for tea, never got it.
Service was horrific, just for that alone, I couldn't enjoy my meal, will not be going back here again.
Awful service and bland food. Only nice part was the ambience
One of my favorite outdoor spaces. Staff is A+. It was maybe my fourth visit. Great for dates. Plan on coming back.
Group of friends and I made the reservation for drinks at 8pm. After ordering a few small plates for the table, we were rudely asked to leave by management after 10-15 minutes for not ordering full entrees. We essentially were rushed out of the restaurant because we were not full dinner guests, but we intended to buy rounds of drinks and get appetizers/1-2 entrees during the course of our reservation. Very poor service.
The waiter was so focused on turning the table around, our whole meal felt extremely rushed.
Lovely outdoor seating for NYC venue. Good food, adequate service. Would go again.
Wish our server was kinder, our guests were from out of town and ordering took longer because of translating the menu but would’ve been nice if he didn’t show the annoyance. The food was a bit underwhelming, except the potatoes and fries. The location is super beautiful.
The ambience is great. They have a very nice outdoors area. The food is average, menu choices are limited and staff is not amenable to making substitutions of any kind. Service was not great. Our waiter wasn’t very attentive, seemed to make a face at everything we asked for, and was not very accommodating of our requests.
I have walked past Pera Soho at least 100 times in the last seven years I’ve been coming to TriBeCa , and never thought to try it since I lived for AQUAGRILLE. Sadly, now that Aqua is closed permanently, I’ve had to broaden my horizons in the ‘hood and elsewhere.
So actually I made the reservation not knowing exactly where the restaurant was and we were surprised to see it was right behind our place on the charming and cozy Sullivan street. Arrived for our 8:30 and were shown to a small table in back, totally fine by NYC standards.
We ordered calamari, an angus beef burger medium rare, and grilled salmon.
The salmon was served with chicory curls, fennel, and some other rustic sautéed greenery. It was good but hardly surprising, as were the calamari, but the burger and fries were superlative.
Homemade hand cut French fries! I could actually eat more than 2 of and I had about 10 before I had to stop since it was my sons dish. They were that good
Our waitperson was friendly and professional, she was fast (it was busy tiny inside with very little room between tables)
We will be back soon
We are native New Yorkers who have been around the world and can easily recommend Pera Soho for Brunch or anytime. Food was fantastic, service
just the right amount of check-ins and a totally pro staff. Relaxing outdoor vibes and even good taste in music playlist! Thanks for an amazing Birthday Brunch and highly recommend to all, cheers
The food was not very good but the ambiance was outstanding. They served our appetizers after the main dish it wasn't acceptable. They need to improve their service...
We had the Margarita, a bottle of house wine (Sauvignon Blanc), dips & mezzes (humus, eggplant mezze, kofte/ meatballs and calamari). All were delicious.
It was rainy so we sat indoors, there were separators between tables due to Covid but it did not feel tight. I also like their garden/ outdoor space in good weather. Service was good, our waitress was attending.
We celebrated a friend's birthday here in the beginning of an actual hurricane, and it was still one of the greatest dining experiences of my life. The food and drinks were all delicious, but the staff... oh my goodness, however much they're being paid, it's still not enough to compensate for their incredible service. They were setting up tents for guests in a torrential downpour, running food and drinks in the rain without getting anything wet, keeping the floors dry so guests didn't slip and fall, the list goes on and on. We are so grateful for their exceptional service, and I highly recommend this restaurant (rain or shine!)
Lovely place great prices
Had a wonderful time at Pera again. One of my favorite places in the city, living up to everything it is billed to be!
We came for restaurant week and the food was fantastic!
We went at brunch. It is funny there are main places with long waits in Soho, but this seemed relatively empty. I don't know why. The service was great, the drinks and food were excellent.
I was only sorry that the Shaksushka Eggs were out (it was noon!).For a Mediterranean that proudly speaks of it's menu,(and the reason I choose it) this was disappointing and surprising.
Great for brunch. We got there when it opened so still very mellow on a Sunday morning. Food and drinks were great.
Below average service- didn't get our drinks until dinner was 75% over. Barely saw our waiter. (plenty of water though). Sat outside on a hot evening. Lots of fans on high setting- made a ton of noise and was pretty much blowing right in our faces the whole time. Food was average and not terribly imaginative. I had pasta- nothing special. My wife had what was essentially a steak kabab- also nothing special. Serving sizes were fair. Prices were fair for SOHO..
Good vibe and nice outdoor seating. Food was good quality. Menu not that adventurous. A bit over priced but par for the course in SOHO
I’m a long-time fan of Pera. The food is always delicious.
The food quality was very low, compared to my past experiences. I've been to Pera Soho 3 times before, this time appetizer, the main dish were not so good, it was just OK, not bad.
Food was delicious. The outdoor seating was very comfortable. Service was excellent.
Lovely setting outside and great brunch menu. Service was great
To be clear the waiter was great but the manager was terrible. Didn’t alert us of the time limit and then told us we had to leave that we had taken too much time already and we should be appreciative of the time he have us. Meanwhile his staff was still taking drink orders and dessert orders. He offered to move us to the back room and buy a drink but the initial approach was super unprofessional.
Great place for lunch in the courtyard area. Really good food and nice for restaurant week offering.
