Went for our anniversary. The food was excellent as was the service.
Everyone at Portalli’s treats us like family. We will be back. #ecstrong
We were visiting Md from NJ and decided to have dinner in Old Ellicott City. Didn't know anything about this restaurant and were VERY happy. I had a veal chop, my husband had Rock Fish they were both wonderful. The waitress was extremely good and very attentive.
I would certainly go back next time in Ellicott City!
We were there with a group of 13 for my daughter's graduation. They put us in a separate space so we were able to relax and enjoy. They were attentive and the food & drinks were fabulous!
My husband and I came here recently for a late afternoon drink and appetizer. We had our dog with us and were able to sit on the deck out back - that was fabulous as well!
Had the weather been nice, we would have asked to have our group of 13 on the deck out back!
Nice view..amazing food..great service..perfect place to celebrate our anniversary...sit downstairs for quieter more intimate experience..
Girlfriends Brunch! Wonderful time too eat great food, laugh and enjoy friends. Our server Carole was very attentive and willing to help a friend with food sensitivities. We will be back for sure!
Great service; excellent food. Very tasty traditional Italian as well as modern
Used to be a favorite spot of ours. Not sure what happened or if it was an off night, but service was slow and food was underwhelming.
Went to Portalli's for Sunday Brunch on Mother's Day. The buffet brunch was adequate, but nothing special stood out. Were it not for the good omelettes, the 40 dollar price tag (including bottomless mimosas) would have been quite over-priced. As it is, we can get better quality at more reasonable prices at other establishments in Howard County.
This is the second time we've been here since the re-opening, and I must say that we were a bit disappointed. We went for dinner the first time, and although the food and service were good, the dinner was over-priced for what it was. The mgmt. does not seem to have it's act together.
Good food! Convenient to home! Great service tonight from Miiranda!
Portelli's is back from the Ellicott City flood and the food is even better and the atmosphere is better also. The portions are a bit smaller but the prices are also lower. We had a great table by the window. We enjoyed everything we ate and the home made Tiramisu for dessert was wonderful.
Portallis has been a go to for us for many years. The food is consistently good, and so is service. This reservation was celebrating a birthday. We got a table upstairs in the room adjacent to the large room where a huge wedding party took up the entire large room. It would have been nice to be downstairs and away from the very loud event. It was so loud that it really finished the great experience we are used to. The restaurant could have at least advised us and given us a choice. We were 7 people buying appetizers, main dishes, 2 bottles of wine and dessert. I think the value of our meal, with the fact that we reserved well in advance, should have guaranteed that consideration for us. It's a shame because we really couldn't even have easy conversation. Hopefully this was a one off, because we do love Portallis.
They were extremely accommodating. I met a friend there and first asked to have outside seating and was pleasantly surprised to have live music. Normally we would love this but on this occasion we needed to have a conversation on a pressing matter. So we had a drink at the outside bar and then asked to be seated inside instead. We were very lucky to get a window seat for people watching. Everyone was so very patient and kind to us and the food was delicious. I would very much recommend Portallis and am so very happy to see that Main Street had a very robust croud on that first Friday night in May.
We had a nice waiter the Service was good and food good too. Restaurant somewhat loud. Manager visible. We were not rushed at all which is nice on Saturday night.
The food and service were very good but it took a very long time for the food to arrive. It took us two hours from door to door.
Food was just ok but the value was good and we had a nice night out with our friends. Good wine selection!
We know that the restaurant is trying to get back to their preflood level of business but the place still needs work. The service was good but the food was mediocre. The furniture appears old with torn seat covers on the chairs. We were there with friends and all of us were disappointed with the restaurant. We won’t be rushing back.
We had a great time especially with the live music going on. The food was delicious but portions very small. On the other hand some of the desserts are huge. There is no kid menu and that is disappointing. The atmosphere is pleasant but lighting is too bright and may feel like a cafeteria if there is no entertainment especially in the upstairs room. We do come back to the restaurant and the bar.
We were looking for a late night restaurant to celebrate a birthday. Portalli’s was the perfect spot in Ellicott City. The restaurant was empty at 9:00pm and we wondered if they were still open. The staff was very welcoming and said that Sunday nights in Ellicott City are very quiet. We decided to share appetizers salad and dessert. The crab soup is the best cream of crab I have ever had. It was rich and reminded me of a crab dip that you eat with a spoon. The clams in a garlic wine sauce phenomenal. The calamari were lightly breaded and very fresh. At 10:00 a DJ started with music for karaoke and the restaurant filled quickly. We stayed for anther 90 minutes and enjoyed the entertainment and happy hour pricing. Definitely return visits are in our future.
It was the first 80 degree day of 2018 and my husband and I headed to Ellicott City. Our plan was to hike, eat, and shop - the trifecta. The hike was incredibly beautiful and quite challenging on the way up. I had made reservations at Portalli's because they had gluten free options on the menu and it looked good. It wasn't good - it was GREAT! I had scallops over risotto and my husband enjoyed the blackened chicken. When I saw the Panna Cotta come by, I knew dessert was in my future. Our waiter was knowledgeable and made good suggestions. It was still warm when we arrived and we were pretty exhausted after the hike, but we were seated by the windows where we enjoyed watching people as cool breezes refreshed us. It was a memorable meal. We will be back.
The full experience was great. However the sitting was extremely closed to other tables.
Portalli's was a great find--thank you Open Table. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and loved the Gracefully Roasted Coffee
Really wanted to like this place but service was really slow and food was meh (overcooked fish and cold veggies). Hope they'll work out all the kinks and make this place live up to its potential
Great service, great food. Took advice from our server and I greatly enjoyed the rockfish entree and meringue dessert.
We had a party of 8 (which they were able to accomodate easily) and shared many appetizers including mozzarella cheese curds, mini crab cakes, calamari, bruschetta, porcini balls, blistered peppers and a ricotta salad. All were delicious. My dinner of peppardelle was a little underseasoned but the seafood was cooked well. The tiramisu was very good but the vanilla bean pannacotta was fabulous! Our service was fantastic. I highly recommend.
Awesome neighborhood hotspot! Great menu and service!
Everything was wonderful last night you had a fantastic piano player he saying show tunes. Can’t wait to go back
One of our favorite spots. Great food and atmosphere.
The was our first visit and I had made a reservation. We were seated quickly at a table for 2 near the entrance. Each time the front door was opened a chilling wind accompanied the diner! I complained about being cold and was still wearing my winter coat! The manager raised the temperature on a wall heating unit. It did make it a bit warmer but every time the door was opened the cold returned. A couple paid their bill from a table in the window alcove. I asked the hostess Sarah if we could more there to be out of the wind. "No problem" and she quickly cleaned and moved us. Once I was WARM I enjoyed the experience of dining at this restaurant. I suggest the establishment try and find a remedy for this BIG problem. I was not the only diner to complain about the cold.
Great quality And value. Baked oyster appetizer was scrumptious. Shrimp saltimbocca was an interesting twist on a classic, and seafood carbonara was better than we had in Italy last year. Prices were. Eye reasonable for high quality and generous portions. Highly recommended.
Thought appetizers and desserts were good. Entre e was disappointing. Got the surf and turf over rigatoni. Tasted more like an Asian dish, not Italian.
We were celebrating our son-in-law's birthday. There were four of us. All of our meals were delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. My daughter and I had the most delicious cream of crab soup that we've ever had .She said that she's going to come back for some more! The Portalli's salad was also perfect.
We received an appetizer that was undercooked. It was good of the manager to have it replaced and removed from our bill, it would have been better to get it correct to first time. Our service seemed to be slow after the first bottle of wine. I would go back but I hope for a better experience
The Sunday brunch selection is tasty but limited, definitely not worth the price. Annapolis and Kent island waterfront restaurants have Portalli's beat in selection, quality, atmosphere, and price. We asked our server to break a 20 so we could leave a tip and she returned with four 5 dollar bills....seriously?
great food & service. Our server, Miranda was fantastic!
Everything was amazing. We arrived early had a cocktail at the bar and then were taken to our room. Lovely piano singer made the ambiance. Our server, Aryanna, was sweet, attentive and incredibly professional. Food was amazing. Wine list and cocktails awesome. The French press coffee so good we had two!!!
Dined here on a Friday night during lent. It was difficult to find Lenten compliant entrees (ie meatless seafood dishes) Opted for the crab chowder which was amazing and the cioppino over pappardelle which was also good. Portions were good. Service was good, nothing bragworthy. The restaurant is loud, the bar area was hopping.
Food was flavorful and the service was exceptional. Decor - could use a little color to warm up the grays.
Portalli's is back! It is as good as it was before the flood and the food was terrific. The only thing missing is the smoked salmon, which was my favorite, but the remaining food is delicious and plentiful, and the made to order omelets are perfect. With the bottomless mimosa or bloody mary, the price is more than right, and the service is very good. Highly recommend this to all in search of a good brunch in the EC area.
