Our Wines
2017 Chardonnay, Russian River Valley$36.00
Produced principally from our own hillside parcel and and blended with one very small older vineyard in the in Green Valley neighborhood of the Russian River Valley. Both vineyards are planted with the very small berry clone "Old Wente", which is known for rich body and aromatic complexity. The cool growing season and lower yields of 2017 further enhance acidity and brightness. The percentage of new French oak barrels is strictly held to a maximum of 30% to keep vineyard character in the forefront.
2017 Chardonnay "George's Hill" Old Vine, Russian River Valley$46.00
This is the highest elevation vineyard on our Estate which can been seen from Westside Rd., if you look above the Fiona Hill as you cross Porter Creek. It was planted shortly after our family purchased the property in 1979. The combination of shallow top soil, very low yields and old vines produce a very mineral driven and textured Chardonnay. The average annual production is about 120 cases.
2017 Viognier – "Hayley Marie Vineyard", Russian River Valley$36.00
In the spirit of its northern Rhone counterparts in Condrieu, this wine possesses a weight and richness, yet restraint rarely found in New World Viognier. Subtle nuances of mango, pear and nectar. Balanced, round and capable of aging. While we have been making Viognier nearly 20 years this bottling is our first estate bottled, single vineyard Viognier, planted using cuttings from our historic source, Timbervine Ranch.
2018 Rosé "Old Vine", Mendocino County$28.00
This is a whole cluster pressed Rosé, which leads to lighter colored wine with a bright acid/mineral balance. Fermented dry and aged in neutral French oak barrels. Made from 80% old vine Carignane and 20% Russian River Zinfandel. Both vineyards are head pruned and dry farmed. Pairs incredibly well with a wide range of foods, yet hits the spot while sitting pool side. The 2018 Rose will be released/shipped in May. Any orders placed in the month of February will receive an extra discount of 10% for 6 bottles (instead of the usual 5%) and 15% off orders of 12 bottles (instead of the usual 10%).
2016 Pinot Noir, Estate Bottled, Russian River Valley$40.00
Sourced from steep estate hillside vineyards that were developed under the watchful care of two generations of the Davis family using organic and biodynamic principals. The winemaking is traditional old world, using hand punchdowns, natural yeast and minimal interventions. Shows elements of wild strawberry and fresh forest floor on the nose and a sensual textural balance on the palette. Unequivocally Russian River Pinot Noir in it's purest form.
2016 Pinot Noir "Fiona Hill Vineyard", Estate Bottled, Russian River Valley$52.00
This is our flag ship Pinot Noir which comes from the steep hillside vineyard situated along Westside Road at the entrance of Porter Creek, which has ideal southern face. Hard clay top soil with a fractured stone bedrock place continual stress on these vines, resulting in a very expressive, unique vineyard designate wine. The nose has aromas of wild berries and forest floor, a weighty mid-palate and long silky finish
2016 Pinot Noir – "Hillside Vineyard", Estate Bottled, Russian River Valley$72.00
Planted in 1973 and continuously producing with many of the original vines, this is among the oldest Pinot Noir vineyards in the Russian River Valley. Rather than replanting the aging parcel, we have revitalized it with clever interplanting, vine-by-vine replanting and soil improvement work. Aromatically it leans in the red fruit and rose petal spectrum, with just a little dark red fruit in the background giving some palette weight. The old vines give powerful yet amazingly silky tannins. Many of the past bottling are still drinking well with 20 years or so of age on them.
2016 Carignane "Old Vine", Mendocino County$28.00
Carignane is a red varietal that was widely planted in California during the late 1800's though the mid- 1900's, mostly by Italian immigrants, and some of the old vineyards are still producing. Ours comes from a vineyard planted in 1939, and yields a wine that is remarkably rich and generous, yet supple and silky. There is a unique fruit profile of black currants, plums and spice.
2014 Syrah "Timbervine Ranch", Russian River Valley$38.00
Shows rosemary, black and green olives, pepper and smoky bacon on the nose, followed by firm structure on the palate and a long finish. Co-fermented with about 4% Viognier, which rounds out the mouth feel and adds an extra dimension to aromatics. A dramatic wine coming from a very steep hillside vineyard growing in one of the cooler parts of Sonoma County.
2016 Zinfandel "Old Vine", Sonoma County$38.00
A classic example of Sonoma County Zinfandel. Aromatically, it has the explosive cherries and berries, and on the palate it is rich and textured on the finish. Produced from hillside grown vines and blended with 5% Carignane and for texture and overall harmony.
