My husband and I took our adult daughters to dinner at this neighborhood gem! All four of us did the chef’s tasting which was fabulous. Menu was awesome, food was perfectly prepared. Can’t say enough about this meal.
Not sure why it took us so long to eat here! Must try the salt potatoes. Beautiful presentation, intimate room, the service is laid back but attentive. Lovely complex flavor to every dish we ordered.
I don’t think there’s anywhere else in the city at this price range that elevates food to an art like this.
So good, excellently prepared!
Pumpkin is a real gem and not to be missed. The menu, although concise, is varied and the food is creatively prepared and presented. It is always a treat to visit to enjoy Pumpkin's delicious food.
Great food and wonderful service! Sunday prix fixe is a great value.
Always a treat! Wonderful flavor textures. Chef Ian & staff never disappoint.
The new menu was great!! It was creative but provided choices for all! The fixed price a wonderful option!
Great food and service. My son and I went for dinner before the Philly O for father's day. IA got the cod--light and tasty. My son had the ribeye and it was outstanding in flavor and presentation. We will be back!
Good food, but a bit pricey. The restaurant was also really loud.
FixedPrice was great, good portions. Stripped Bass was delicious, the delicate flavor of the fish was not overpowered by the artichoke lemony sauce. Loved grilled carrots and beet soup too. Kudus to the chef. I am a great family cook, ethnic mostly. When go out I expect to eat delicious food but also creative meals that I do not have time to put together. Pumpkin never disappoints. Thank you.
My companion and I opted for the tasting menu, which did not disappoint. My favorite dish was the opener, the Tuna Crudo: an ethereal blending of citrus dressing, shaved green beans, avocado, and tuna. The oysters: small, briny, delicious. The robust simplicity of the roasted chicken was very satisfying.
Service was attentive without being intrusive. The heavens opened up as we left, and our host kindly loaned us his umbrella.
Very delicious. The chef has a light touch with sauces and balances the flavors subtly. We ordered the tasting menu. A nice culinary experience and a good value.
The food was good to excellent; the portions in some cases were microscopic while the costs were not.
Fantastic chicken and cold pea soup. Great service. Byob
Fabulous as always. We never miss a visit to Pumpkin when we are in Philly.
The food, service, and ambiance were all spectacular! I would recommend this restaurant to any of my friends.
Always impressed! Food beyond delicious and as described. Diana the server is the best.
Food was good but very over priced. We won’t return. Sorry.
Pumpkin BYOB was the best BYOB I have visited in Philly. The chef is so creative and blends eclectic tastes in each dish. All the staff were friendly and caring.
Food is excellent but menu is very limited- this is a very small place and there were only three entrees listed. We had a shared appetizer, an appetizer each and a “second” course. We shared a dessert for the 4 of us- we were full, not stuffed. The bill was $111.00 per couple. It’s not cheap but it is a BYO. Interestingly, you have to pay for bread and butter. If you are a picky eater, this place is not for you.
Delicious seasonal cooking, charming room and attentive service. The salt potato & crab dish was so good we ordered a second one. Highly recommend
It’s been ages since we have been to Pumpkin and I have no idea why. The food was outstanding. The salt potatoes with crab and Old Bay were wonderful as was the soft shell crab and asparagus with ricotta. Honestly, everything we had except for the regular coffee ( little on the weak side) was lovely. The subtle flavors and combination made us wonder why it took so long to get back to Pumpkin. The next time will be much, much sooner.
Pumpkin is always excellent in all ways. Have been a regular all throughout their existance. So many memorable meals!
The Sunday night Prix Fixe never fails to please. I really appreciate the creative and delicious use of vegetables (e.g., charred broccoli, beets and feta, etc.). The chilled carrot soup was amazing and the chicken entree was homey yet sophisticated. Overall, another great meal.
Pumpkin hits the mark every. single. time. We tried the Sunday tasting menu for the first time, and our only complaint would be that there was more than we could eat. There's a genius mixing of flavors with every dish, but never so much that the essential taste of the ingredients is overwhelmed. Particularly loved the chilled carrot soup, the charred broccoli, the monkfish, and the panna cotta. In other words, all of it.
As, always, everything at Pumpkin was excellent on this visit. They were offering a prix fixe vegan dinner the night we were there and three of us had that. It was delicious (ESPECIALLY the chilled carrot soup - the chef here always seems to come up with soups that make you wish the bowl would never end). Service was perfect and the experience was delightful.
Really great spot. Does not get enough attention or credit. Everything here ive ever had is unbelievable. Their crudos are to die for. Book early.
I love this little BYO always amazing dishes and the cook is more than happy to provide special requests
Eat out often.
$65 tasting menu.
Best meal we have had in Philadelphia.
Small marble table top, no table cloth.
Food beautifully presented.
Fresh lively tastes.
Excellent food. Charming and intimate. Love BYOB places!
Introductory visit to Pumpkin. Lovely meal and experience. Three of us shared several small plates and two mains, savoring taste treats in each dish--razor clams, potato crusted cod, roasted chicken, monk fish and more. Warm, friendly, professional service. Will definitely return.
This Is a spectacular, small restaurant. Menu is interesting, food is superb, service excellent.
My girlfriend and I went to Pumpkin for the Sunday pre-fix menu. After reading all the great reviews I had high expectations and Pumpkin exceeded them all. Each course was delicious. Many of the items I would never have ordered on my own had there been other choices. I never knew carrots could be so decadent and savory. The ambiance was perfect for a date night. Overall, I’d highly recommend Pumkpin and will definitely be going back!
Best In the city!!
It was wonderful
To be recommended - and we will come back!
Our first time in Philly... so glad we picked this place for dinner. It lived up to its reputation for quality seasonal produce. We ordered the lump crab salad, roast chicken and key west shrimp- all prepared to perfection and beautiful presentation. Loved my vanilla panacotta - regretted my offer to share it with my son! The pumpkin seeds giveaway at the end was a sweet touch.
Service was disappointing. The food was outstanding, the portions were remarkably small for the price. We ordered 6 items to share for 3 people, 2 from each portion of their menu and found that the portion sizes were surprisingly small. The ambiance was lovely and the food was wonderful. The service was lacking. I felt that the server was more interested in turning over the table rather than creating an enjoyable experience for us. We clearly had not put cash on our check and she came up twice to ask if we needed change or were ready to pay. We felt uncomfortable with this interaction, it was clear they were trying to get us to leave for folks that were waiting for a table. It would have been nice to be able to finish our glasses of wine and enjoy the company without feeling unwanted in the restaurant. If you're in a hurry and want excellent food this is the place for you. If you're looking for a relaxed, warm, filling evening this is not the place for you.
This is a great BYO restaurant that has great Vegan Options. Timing of one of the courses could have been better but otherwise, everything was great. I think we will not wait another 5 years before we go back.
