Californian
Situated in San Francisco's historic Jackson Square, Lindsay and Chef Michael Tusk's Quince features a nightly tasting menu that highlights the seasonal bounty of Northern California. Chef Tusk was named “Best Chef: Pacific” by the James Beard Foundation in 2011. In 2012 the San Francisco Chronicle bestowed a fourth star to Quince. In 2016 Quince was awarded its third Michelin star, which it holds to this day. The cost of the tasting menu is $295. Quince requests all cancellations be made at least 48 hours prior to avoid a $295 per person (plus tax) late cancellation fee; this policy also applies to same day reservations. Due to the complexity of the menu, it may not be possible to accommodate all dietary restrictions. Please note, our menu relies quite heavily on shellfish and dairy-based ingredients.

Went here with a few friends while visiting SF. Hands down one of the best experiences of my life. The food was phenomenal. Our waitress Laila and waiter Juan made the evening so personal. There was a bartender named Michael that is a true savant and created drinks that were just as interesting and tasty as the meal. Unlike other high end places, we were full at the end of the meal. There wasn’t a single moment that wasn’t exceptional. I’d give it a 4th star if I could. Thank you Quince!!!

This is my 5th visit to quince. Must say was very disappointing.

The menu was very monotone, and at the end not interesting.

The portions: microscopic, don’t recall ever leaving quince hungry, well we did! And my wife eats little and she left hungry. Guys took it too far.

We missed the bigger portions and more traditional pasta dishes. The lamb I was served was, one byte... the pasta was super small... but plenty of bread! Thanks God we had all that bread.

Yesterday serving was clearly giving an homage to greens , peas, etc however lacked contrast, something to break it up.

The desert tray, serving microscopic deserts, felt like when you get the business class United desert tray. Not trying to be funny, felt very similar.

And because the wine pairing was generous on top you get a big drunk too quickly. Not a great balance to have that much drinks and so little food.

The bread was great.

Service was 5 stars, and all of that was great.

Not worth going.

This is the best restaurant in the US I have eaten at from every perspective. Quince is more than worthy of three stars from Michelin. Thank you Quince for making our 40th anniversary a memorable one.

I was disappointed in two things for a 3 star restaurant:
—my reservation was for 5:30 and since I was hosting I got there at 5:25 pm to be able to greet my guests. They told me that they were not open yet and to wait outside. I can understand that but a more graceful solution would be for them to ask me to wait inside their air conditioned room instead of in the 94 degree heat outside. Or, to ask people NOT to arrive before 5:30.
—the server asked my guest to my left if he wanted the Wine List. I said I would like it instead since I was hosting. Instead of her walking behind my guest and give it to me, she handed it to me across from him, sort of shoveling it by his nose. A major faux pas!

Quince is a once in a lifetime experience. The ambiance was majestically set, the food, exquisitely prepared and service was excellent. We were thrilled to find out there was so much more in the "flower pot" where the appetizer was presented and there were at least 4 items that was presented to our delight. When I found my drink too bitter, I commented on this to Dominic, and he immediately changed it as a courtesy. Our menu was personalized to say "Happy Birthday Richard" and that was a nice touch. The experience was so unique we could not believe it actually took a total of over 3 hours for all 10 courses to get served and enjoyed. All dishes were served and explained by different staff; however, when we had a question about a certain dish, we asked just any server and to our surprise, they knew the contents of each dish. That was very impressive. The dessert rolling tray was fun, but I thought they would leave it for a little longer in case we decided which ones we wanted seconds for.

Perhaps it would be better if there were at least two main meat courses to choose from rather than having to pay an additional cost, or at least lower the price to do so. On the evening we went, lamb was the only option so I chose to upgrade. I did the same with the caviar. I don't feel it was necessary to charge so much either. Overall, it was quite a memorable dinner. The menus were saved for us at the exit as well as hot strawberry chamomile for the drive back. Thank you!

Excellent food and service as always. We were a party of three with two young adults that were fairly new to the fine dining scene. Everything about Quince blew their minds and it will be a birthday celebration to be remembered for many years to come. Thank you to the entire staff for making such a memorable evening for us all.

Overall a very nice dinner. At times servers were difficult to understand when describing the dishes and wine pairing. Barolo wine served was referred to as being a 2010 when it was a 2011 and was advised it was from Barolo rather then La Morra. Would expect a perfect understanding of wines being served from a 3 star restaurant.

Easily the most amazing dining experience I’ve ever had. Every detail of the restaurant is beautifully curated and well-executed and the staff is both knowledgeable and attentive. Each course and paired wine is perfectly balanced, thoughtfully presented and absolutely delicious. And I will talk about the bar’s vintage amari offering and, specifically, the “1970s Negroni” for the rest of my life.

our first time back since having been awarded its ***. and well deserved! Here from NYC so arrived 5:30 given the time difference and restaurant already buzzing. escorted graciously to a requested side by side corner table, the decor is subtle, soothing, and quite upscale. we began with rose champagne while perusing the prix fixe menu which was patiently explained in detail. began with several delicious and creative amuse bouches and enjoyed our caviar first course with our champagne. Bottle of red Morey St. Denis was chosen with the help of sommelier Aaron Babcock, was within our price range, complex, with lovely bouquet and TOO easy to drink. Helas! our favorite dishes were green and white asparagus w morel mushrooms, peas in their pod (fresh, complex yet able to deconstruct on the palate) and Sonoma duck.
We were celebrating our anniversary, and we were asked if we wanted to tour the kitchen.
We were escorted in and to our surprise a small table was set up, our wine was brought along, and we were able to enjoy our pasta course while seated in the bustling cuisine, working with total precision. where we were introduced to the chef, whom we congratulated, comparing our experience to my birthday celebration 6 months earlier in Paris with the world acclaimed Guy Savoy. Later, when we returned to the dining room, the charming owner, Michael Tusk, came to our table and spent a good 5-10 mins discussing SF and other restaurants we might enjoy.
the service was world class and the entire team deserves a mention.
in summary, the definition of a three star is "worth the trip". We will keep an eye on airfares and hope to
return to re-experience this magnificent dining extravaganza

We celebrated my husbands birthday here. It was a special birthday as my husband had open heart surgery 6 months ago and has recovered. We previously had a reservation last November to celebrate my birthday at Quince, but needed to cancel because of my husbands surgery. So, this celebration was truly meaningful as a dual celebration.

Food and service was excellent. I loved all the dishes and the service was impeccable. Highly recommend everyone try this restaurant - it was truly a special, special meal. Presentation and food were excellent. In my opinion, worth the splurge.

Overall generally satisfied with the dinner, but there were a few disappointing aspects I felt compelled to write about given the level of status of this restaurant. The tasting menu was highly vegetable (if not vegetarian) focused, which is fine. However, I would have liked to see a specific seafood dish. While the first course did include caviar and another included one oyster, it would have been nice to see the execution of a fish plating. Two, while the service staff was attentive and nice, when asked about cooking technique and ingredients their responses fell flat. When eating at a restaurant of this status you want to hear the story behind the dish. Why and how was it created? Give a bit of meaning behind it and be an extension of the chef and the kitchen staff. They were a little off in that circumstance. Finally, the sommelier was absolutely awful and the corresponding wine pairing was outrageously expensive. At $275 for the wine pairing, you are completely undermining the value and work behind the $285 tasting menu. Most guests do not care you are pouring a 1994 Burgundy or 1996 chardonnay or 2009 Cristal. Any sommelier can open an expensive bottle and serve it. The sommelier was unbelievably impersonal. Did not introduce himself, did not explain WHY he chose these pairings and what we should be tasting, just came over poured the first pairing and gave a very canned and generalized description of the wine to every table assuming we knew exactly what he was talking about. Very disappointing experience and absolutely not worth the cost! Highlights were the exceptional bartender who was the exact opposite of the sommelier. Explained why, what, how, with flawless execution of the drinks. My girlfriend also did not want the squab dish and they kindly replaced it with an magical ravioli (although once again a vegetarian dish). Overall a good experience but not three star Michelin. With so many other fine dining options in SF, you expect the best. It fell flat

Dining at Quince is truly an unforgettable experience. Every course is utterly delectable and expertly crafted by a truly talented kitchen team. We were lucky enough to be invited into the kitchen, where we were served an additional course: suckling pig ravioli 😋 needless to say, it was fantastic. We will definitely be back. The service was pretty good and the food was ok, but we expected more... We did the tasting menu and 3 out of 10 courses were pasta, from a 3 Michelin Star restaurant we were expecting more variety, fish, meat, etc. We know that they change the menu depending on the season, but from our opinion and experience there was any dish that we said WOW.

As we walked in into the restaurant were greeted and felt like home. Service was impeccable, food was outstanding, and ambiance was great, but the one thing that Quince really made it for me and my wife was the menu they gave said “happy anniversary” to me and my wife on top. And the small touch and small details I love about a restaurant. Can’t wait to go back!
