We enjoyed the food at the restaurant and the service was good. The decor was much nicer than I expected from the outside of the restaurant. I was a little confused on why 75% of the tables were given bread and butter but we didn't receive one. I wish a manager had spoken with us so I could have asked him. We will go back to the restaurant when we are back in Atlanta.
This is my favorite place to come to when I'm in town. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere, all of it!
Great food, great service! Noise level was way too loud!
I have eaten here several times before when I am in Atlanta for the Merchandise Mart. Originally it was because it was close to the Market building and my hotel, but subsequent trips have been all about the food. This is a well run establishment that offers fast service without sacrificing the quality of the food or the experience. I started with a crab cake and my companion had oysters Rockefeller. Both were perfect starters. For entrees, we had the halibut "special" which was a generous portion of perfectly cooked halibut on a bed of Yukon gold mashed potatoes and asparagus spears and then topped with crab. Absolutely delicious! I highly recommend Ray's to anyone, especially those staying in one of the downtown hotels (Westin, Hyatt, Marriott ect.) of Atlanta. No need to get your car our of valet...just walk a half block and there you are.
It was a little pricey, but the food was great so I don't mind. Our waitress was fantastic and very attentative. I am always a little leary of ordering steak at a restaurant that specializes in seafood, but my daughters steak was perfectly cooked and delicious. Was in town on business. Went the first day and went back at the end of the week.
Very nice place off Peachtree. Me and my wife went for date night on a Friday the crowd was moderate. Our food was amazing and our waiter was informative and very precise to making sure we had the best experience there. If you’re in Atlanta I recommend checking out this spot
Food and service are superb. Our waitress made a few suggestions and she was spot on. Couldn’t have asked for a better meal.
I normally love to go to Ray's but this time, everything was very rushed. All of our entrees were overcooked. One steak was returned and when the new one was brought out, it was delicious. The Blue cheese chips and wedge salad were delicious.
Great food and jazz music.
I had the lobster Cobb salad which was outstanding. I visit AmericasMart Once or twice a year. Eating at Ray’s is very convenient. I can work all day, walk out the front door and sit down to dinner immediately afterwards.
We always eat here twice a year, all three nights❤️
We attend Market in July every year and have eaten at Ray’s every year for 14 years! We always love the food and the service is first rate! Great atmosphere and fabulous fresh seafood. Try the crab cakes - you won’t be disappointed!
I am in Atlanta for business about 6 times a year and Ray’s In The City is always on my list as a dinner destination. The crab cakes are my favorite thing on the menu...THEY ARE EXCELLENT! I have always had excellent food and great service at Ray’s. I would like to compliment manager Drew McClain for his exemplary customer service and professionalism! I would suggest making reservations to avoid a long wait!
Rays never disappoints. I have been dining here since my first gift show trip years ago. Always on the go to list when in Atlanta
Actually seated earlier than reserved time-meal was delicious and unique. Very pleasantly surprised by interior and by the quality of food and service. The street view doesn’t begin to reveal the wonderful meal awaiting for you inside.
Waiter was arrogant food was overpriced
So loud, service so slow, an eye rolling waiter, an overflowing bathroom...but fantastic food.
Too many negatives to give it the rating the food deserves.
Excellent food and incredible service
Always my favorite restaurant when I’m in town
Love the Oysters
We love the food at Ray's! Have not had a bad meal here ever. The classic salad is delicious, the shrimp and grits amazing and you can't go wrong with the grilled swordfish. They do need to work on their timing of food. We had our salads before our drinks and our dinners came out while we were only halfway through our salads. Made us feel very rushed. Also we were not asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. Guess they needed to turn the table. I do have to give them credit for honoring our reservation this year. Last year we waited at least 30 minutes for a table even though we had made reservations thru Open Table. Overall great dining experience.
Never disappointed. Always go to ray's when we are in town staying in the area.
LOVE Ray's in the City for lunch! Amazing salads and solid wine selection.
The food is very good. Tables are cramped and it is extremely loud when full. Service is good.
Great service. Enjoyed the food
Have eaten here several times and for the most part it is very good. On this visit I had the flounder and it was beyond bland. Steak Frites had a good flavor but were tough!
Dinner for two without drinks over $100, not worth that!
Food was delicious! No wait with our reservations. Our server, Telusa, was fabulous!
The onion rings were fantastic! And the Lobster Cobb salad was terrific!
Unfortunately, I can't give a great review of Ray's. The food was very good, but extremely overpriced. I know it is in the heart of Atlanta, but even by New York City standards it was way more costly than it should have been, Also, the noise level is uncomfortable. There was a group of women at the next table and I their voices were so loud and their table was so close, they could have been having dinner with us. When a restaurant commands a certain price, they need to have certain amenities.
This restaurant was Fantastic! The manager, Mr. Alex Alvarado ensured we were well taken care of. We have definitely recommended Ray’s in the City to all our family and friends in the Atlanta area! We will definitely be visiting this particular restaurant in the very near future!,
Excellent food and service. Would highly recommend Ray's
I booked this visit as a birthday dinner for my Fiancee. I was disappointed that they chose to seat us in a noisy area next to the street and between two tables with families with young children. I am a parent and understand the complexities of taking children to dinner but just the one small step of seating us elsewhere would have made the difference between a fantastic and romantic experience and ordinary touristic one. If you plane to visit Ray's in the City, and plan to have a cozy dinner for two, make sure you say upfront that you wish to be seated away from the kids.
Having gotten that little pearl out of the way, I can say that the food was excellent and the service was very good as well. We may try Ray's again but, with all the choices out there, it may be a while.
The Parmesan Scallops were phenomenal and our server, Mercury gave amazing service. I found that the ambiance near the bar was quite better than the front dining room. It felt like the from dining area just crammed a bunch of people in the same room and there was a horrible echo from the kids who were running around there. Once we moved to the bar area our experience was much better!
Everything was outstanding from the food to the service.
Really lame service. Steak was overdone. I was expecting something more like Capital Grille and that’s not what I got. When you pay as much as you do for the food, it needs to come with better service and be cooked correctly. I’ll take my $ back to Capital Grille any day!
40th Bday dinner
Fish was very fresh, as server proclaimed.
The table where we were placed was near large, very loud groups of people so that we could not hear the jazz band. This was a disappointment since that was one of the reasons we selected Rays in the city.
I ordered the swordfish and my date ordered the salmon. Presentation was amazing, perfectly cooked, and delicious sauces. Highly recommend to anyone.
Service was absolutely horrible. Our waiter forgot 4 very simple requests and the food was just ok. I actually went there to celebrate and left angry and $150 in the hole. Don’t mind paying for a good meal and experience, but this was terrible.
It was absolutely nice and my group really enjoyed themselves. A little prices though, but overall excellent.
