After moving to the US, Riccardo opened Sonny Bono, IL Giardino Ristorante and Madeo Ristorante in Beverly Hills. In 1987 he helped his cousin Roberto Ruggeri open the first Bice restaurant in New York City. Since then, he has worked in the opening of many of the restaurants in the group. In 2002 Riccardo moved to Chicago with his wife Veronica to be the executive chef of Bice on Ontario.
Finally Riccardo and Veronica, also a chef, decided to open their own place and in 2006 called Riccardo Trattoria. Considered by many to be the top Italian restaurant in town, receiving the Bib Gourmand from Michelin in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Now, Riccardo and Veronica have opened a classic Italian wine bar, called Riccardo Enoteca, right across the street from Riccardo Trattoria on Clark.
Wonderful food and welcoming staff as always!
Anniversary dinner. The food was excellent and the atmosphere made the evening special.
Great food and service. I recommend the Lasagna and Risotto.
been there many many times for first time orichetti (sp?) was too salty
Great lasagna and veal parmigiana.
Great food, neighborhood gem
Delicious food, excellent service. Very enjoyable evening.
Had heard from multiple people, each independently, that it is the best restaurant in Chicago. I know it is a high bar, but I think RE delivers (and a dinner there won't break the bank either!). Highly recommend!
Absolutely amazing food! Delish! We will definitely be back soon.
Great food and service. This neighborhood gem never fails to please.
Food and service ar3 always great here. It’s one of our go to places in Lincoln Park.
Excellent choice, made based on Open Table reviews, and I completely concur with the well deserved high rating. Our waiter was very patient with us, and allowed us to take our time and enjoy the company and food without rushing us out of the restaurant even though there were several people waiting to be seated. The appetizers, entrees, wine and desert were all outstanding. I had the veal parmigiana (one of my go-to choices when trying out a new place) and it was one of the better ones I have had, very tender, tasty, and not at all overseasoned. We arrived a bit earlier and were seated and were able to talk to our guests very well. When the restaurant filled up, it was a bit more noisy, but we were still able to hear each other and have a great time. The ambience was great. I highly recommend Riccardo Enoteca for a great Italian meal and night out with friends.
We eat here as often as we can. It’s important to patronize local businesses, especially one which we are lucky to have in our neighborhood. The food is consistently outstanding, the service warm and friendly.
A favorite neighborhood spot. Always great food and service.
Excellent service, food and value. We have been coming here for special events for the last 6 years and they NEVER disappoint.
Authentic Italian food and perfect service. One of the best Italian restaurants in Chicago.
A great low key place for a delicious meal and conversation.
The service was great and food was delicious! Authentic Italian at its finest.
Always good. Excellent menu and you can talk. I would refer it to anyone.
An all time favorite. Always consistent and excellent food, service and overall experience. We eat here often and it is just a wonderful neighborhood spot.
Riccardo Enoteca is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. It is authentic Italian food and wine, always perfectly prepared!
I think Ricardo’s is my new favorite Italian! It is everything I want - great service , authentic menu, perfect portions and a salad dressing on the arugula artichoke salad to die for! It was like a love whisper, soft and enhancing the relationship of the two. Yes, it was love! The two other diners had the pear, walnut pizza - and the leftovers were “fought” over. Daughter won! The ambiance is perfect - no background music that is just excess noise! It is a place to have a conversation and enjoy the time together. Service is just perfect - well synced between waiter, I think manager, bussers. My only comment is to maybe bring in female waiters as I have eaten there previously and never noticed female staff.
Exceptional food and service!
This restaurant never disappoints! It’s consistently delicious , creative and good value for your dollar.
This has become one of our favorite restaurants, with terrific food and service. We celebrated my wife’s birthday here because of its consistency in all respects.
Love the place!! Always lives up. I go every time I go to Chicago.
Lovely place to gather with friends. Friendly staff. Great food.
Perfect easy dinner any night of the week!
We are most fortunate to have this spot in our neighborhood. We eat there as often as possible, and especially enjoy introducing friends to the restaurant. The food is consistently outstanding, the wine list has lots of reasonably priced excellent selections and the service warm and welcoming. We look forward to many more meals there.
All I can say is perfection . Staff was great , food is the best Italian in the city , ambiance is fantastic.
Food was good. However, the restaurant did NOT have our reservation in their system.
Always the best! A real neighborhood gem. Cozy, friendly, and the best staff in the city.
Wonderful, comfortable boutique atmosphere....service good food is very good
This is my favorite Italian in chicago. A true experience and the guys who work and run the place are legends in their own way. Fantastic!
Food was perfect!!!!!!! Best grilled calamari ever!!!!!!!!!
Incredible food and service!
This was a first visit for all 3 of us. We all found our food to be delicious & our waiter was excellent!!
This has become my favorite restaurant. Food is great. Service is equally wonderful. Love the jazz they play in the background...and love that they know when to turn it off so the restaurant doesn’t get too loud.
Food is always excellent. Generous portions but not overwhelming. Variety is exceptional considering the capacity of the restaurant.
Food and service was great. Loved the old nostalgic atmosphere. Would come back the next time in Chicago.
