After moving to the US, Riccardo opened Sonny Bono, IL Giardino Ristorante and Madeo Ristorante in Beverly Hills. In 1987 he helped his cousin Roberto Ruggeri open the first Bice restaurant in New York City. Since then, he has worked in the opening of many of the restaurants in the group. In 2002 Riccardo moved to Chicago with his wife Veronica to be the executive chef of Bice on Ontario.
Finally Riccardo and Veronica, also a chef, decided to open their own place and in 2006 called Riccardo Trattoria. Considered by many to be the top Italian restaurant in town, receiving the Bib Gourmand from Michelin in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Now, Riccardo and Veronica have opened a classic Italian wine bar, called Riccardo Enoteca, right across the street from Riccardo Trattoria on Clark.
Food is always excellent. Generous portions but not overwhelming. Variety is exceptional considering the capacity of the restaurant.
Food and service was great. Loved the old nostalgic atmosphere. Would come back the next time in Chicago.
Pulpo over the crushed potatoes was sublime!
Great vibes, as always, including the service.
Ideal neighborhood spot for cocktails, good wine offerings, and authentic Italian preparations.
Can't wait to return!
The Riccardo Enoteca chef prepared a meal that was reminiscent of our last trip to Italy. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly, and beautifully paired with Italian wine. We've already made a reservation to return again!
Very pleased overall.
We had a fabulous meal here!
It is a great little neighborhood Italian restaurant and the carbonara was excellent!
great food; warm, friendly place; lovely jazz playing over the sound system. Will become our go-to restaurant!
Gran restaurante. Muy buena comida. En mi mesa se pidió lasagna, bronzino y otras pastas. Excelente comida
Food was really good. Great value for the money. Would definitely go back. Lovely experience
Excellent food, excellent staff.
Ordered the Branzini, wasn’t Branzini. It was another flat white fish, but not what I ordered, It tasted fine. The service was slow and rude... off my dining out list
Cute little restaurant. Conveniently located near the show we saw at Park West. Attentive but not intrusive service. Amazing sea bass entree which I cannot wait to have again. And they were very accommodating with a specially prepared gluten free veal dish for my husband. Will be back!
Delicious food. Service is amazing. Always açcomidating.
Perfect, every time - this is my go to spot when I need to relax and enjoy dinner....and where I take friends who have not yet experienced Riccardo! 10 Stars!
The staff is always amazing here....just like the food! I highly recommend.
I am not a fan of Italian food and this was simply excellent. Everything prepared perfectly.
One of our favorite spots - has a neighborhood feeling, and reminds us of Italy. Always great food and an interesting, value-oriented wine list. Great for a couple or small group.
Great place. I recommend specially the fish and desserts.
This place had amazing food and service. I would recommend to anyone.
Truly excellent Italian food in a very casual setting and fair prices. The menu has many options and it would be easy for anyone to find something regardless of what sort of diet he or she might be on.
Everything is well prepared and nicely presented.
Wine list is also reasonably priced and there are nice by the glass options.
My wife and I have been there 5+ times and have never been disappointed
We are lucky to have this place in our neighborhood. The food is consistently excellent and somehow keeps getting better.
Riccardo trattoria is one of my favorite restaurants, and I have always liked the Enoteca as well, but last Saturday I took someone for a celebration, and I ordered cacio e pepe, and it had no pepper, and was tasteless, I could hardly eat 3 bites. I have always loved the Trattoria, but the Enoteca needs to pay more attention to its menu.
Went there for a birthday and the service was excellent. Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I both got sick from the dinner. I followed up with the restaurant to let them know our concern and I think we would’ve appreciated a bit more sympathy for the situation.
Wonderful local favorite. Does Riccardo restaurant proud.
The food was delicious with nicely sized portions. The service was outstanding; our waiter was attentive but not intrusive. Both the dining room and the kitchen, though busy, appeared to be running with a sense of ease and friendly hospitality. And even though it was New Year's Eve, the kitchen accommodated a special menu request. We look forward to our return visit.
New favorite place in Chicago for great Italian! Wow. Awesome! Really really good. Great prices and great service.
We came here for a special birthday dinner and celebrated a beautiful evening! The staff could not have been more engaging and attentive. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming and cozy. Our dinner was spectacular - we enjoyed mussels, homemade pasta (which was superb) and tiramisu. It was a memorable experience for a memorable event!
Enoteca is a great little place to go. Flexible enough to have quiet conversation or have a lively group activity.
Outstanding; my go to spot in a city sprawling with Italian restaurants. The staff is incredible; polite, friendly, and courteous. The food is delicious; a Tuscan/Roman cuisine that is moderately priced with perfect portion sizes. The ambiance is perfect; serviceable enough for a friend get-together but also quant enough for a Friday night date.
It has everything I like about a restaurant: a neighborhood feel; a menu full of old favorites and interesting daily specials (especially the fish and seafood choices); reasonable prices; and cordial, relaxing servers who make eye contact and seem interested in my enjoyment of the meal.
Just like Italy! Perfect veal. Such a great cozy place.
Cesar and his team are consistently gracious. The food was great as always. Our go to neighborhood restaurant
Exceptional service. Very warm, friendly atmosphere. Reminds me of Italy.
Amazing food and service
This is a go to neighborhood place that always has good food, good service and a warm vibe. Fava bean appetizer and homemade pasta always delicious.
An excellent little place with knowledgeable, helpful and friendly servers and high quality food and wine. Highly recommended.
The service was fabulous and the food was even better. Perfect, cozy date night spot in Lincoln Park.
Every time I come here the food is amazing. I recommend it to all my friends. Everything is clean and the waiter knows everything about the menu. I love Riccardo Enoteca
Best customer service. I took my best friend that was visiting out of town to celebrate her 30th birthday!
Food was amazing and the service was 100% great.
I will defiantly visit again!
