    Nobu rooftop great experience, everything was 5 star except the hostess. Young short blonde girl had a lot of attitude, you can definitely tell she did not want to be there. It was raining and she sat as at a table outside where it was raining and when i asked to be moved to a table under the roof caught a lot of attitude lol... not something i want to deal with when I'm dropping that kind of money on sushi and drinks

    Nobu is one of those places where the food keeps me coming back every time. The food was amazing as always. I absolutely love, love, love the shiitake mushrooms—they’re easily one of my favorite things on the menu. The service had a bit of a rough start. It was just the two of us, and we initially sat at the bar thinking we’d grab a quick bite, only to find out you can’t order food there. Since I only wanted to try one thing, we ended up needing a table. We joined the waitlist, which felt like forever while there were several empty tables visible. Then I noticed reservations were available on OpenTable, made one, and was seated immediately—which was a little confusing since I had just been told there would still be a wait. Once seated, our waiter took the orders of two tables that sat down after us before coming to ours. However, despite the slow start, everything turned around once things got rolling. The service became smooth, the food came out, and the experience felt like the Nobu I know and love. The only miss for me was the Smoking Mirrors cocktail. It just wasn’t my favorite—it had a flavor that reminded me a little too much of a rubber tire. Overall, the food continues to be the star of the show, and those shiitake mushrooms alone are enough to keep me coming back.

    The service was amazing. However, the sizes of the “tacos” was my only disappointment. They’re about 2 inches in size. The spicy prawn tempura, which is a dish that resembles popcorn shrimp, was delicious. Overall, I’d come back for the lycée martini and spicy prawn tempura. We were told the plates are “family style” and I’d say the sizes of the dishes are more appetizer like.

    We have been coming to Nobu Chicago for years. Last night’s meal was the first time we haven’t enjoyed ourselves. The service was incredibly slow, the portions have gotten smaller (i.e., the wagyu tacos and black miso cod lettuce wraps), and the drinks were subpar (e.g., the spicy margarita tasted like juice and we were served an entirely flat glass of prosecco). We’re fans of Nobu and have been to multiple Nobu locations around the world. Last night’s service was not what we expect of the Nobu brand—it was disappointing to see and made us not want to come back to one of our staple Chicago summer rooftop restaurants.

    When we asked the hostess to sit us at a table with a heater (since it was about 60 degrees) she immediately got upset and said “I will see what I can do but I can’t promise anything”. I asked her “why are you so upset with us we just got here”, she looked at me, turned and walked away. Our waiter Shawn, was great! My interactions with the other service staff was great. But the hostess at the front desk was not it.
