Mexican
In 1984, Rosa Mexicano set a new standard for Mexican cuisine when it first opened on the upper east side of New York City. Playing a leading role in defining what was then a "new" cuisine to American diners, Rosa Mexicano delivers authentic Mexican cooking in an accessible, stylishly festive atmosphere. Rosa Mexicano's menu features a range of award-winning signature dishes, including our Guacamole en Molcajete, in a traditional lava rock mortar. Described by Time Out New York as "green ecstasy in a stone bowl," it is prepared table side and served with house made chips, warm corn tortillas and condiment salsas. Rosa Mexicano is also known for the Frozen Pomegranate Margarita, as well as the stylish and festive ambiance that includes an illuminated water wall.

Atmosphere was very nice. Service was good. Food was ok. Servings were small and two of us had shrimp meals and were disappointed with the quality/size of the shrimp. Overall, ok experience.

We wanted to have dinner prior to going to a show. Ended up with the quesadillas which were mediocre at best. Hardly any filling and not hot. Our server was good. He was friendly and not pushy at all. We will not be back to eat here. The prices are too high for the quality of the food. Another tourist trap restaurant.

Was an adult birthday dinner but the restaurant put us in a back room with zero atmosphere and had to be reminded at both arrival and then when dessert orders were being taken that it was a birthday celebration. Would not recommend for a special occasion.

Rosa Mexicano is always a solid choice! The table side guacamole is some of the best out there. The drinks are delicious and served in a great setting. This location (National Harbor) is in a great location on the water and provides some great views. It also has great outdoor seating when the weather is cooperating.

Consistently good food, pretty good service. Busy location, would recommend a reservation. Seems like they changed their recipes a bit, spicier, which we didn't mind. Kids menu portion is tiny. If over 5 years old I would recommend a regular size meal rather than kids. No straws, which I am happy about.

Thank goodness we made reservations on a Saturday night, the wait was over an hour. We ordered sangria and our dinners. The chips and salsa were great! Our pitcher of sangria and meals came out in 10 minutes together. We felt very rushed. The carnitas were delicious and so were the tres enchiladas. Our server was not attentive and the sangria was tasteless. The sangria had too much apple slices and not enough liquor/wine. Not planning on going back, as there were many different restaurants at the harbor.

The guacamole and queso fundito was really good however everything else was just mediocre. Was hard to read the menu because it was so dark and the waitress was not very personable or attentive, we were there for 2 hours and saw her maybe 4 times. The drinks were WAY too strong, I know crazy...but so strong that we were unable to drink them...and we like a good cocktail. For example...the Mexican coffee tasted more like tequila...if I wanted a tequila shot I would have ordered a tequila shot...I wanted a Mexican coffee. For the amount of money it really wasn't worth it...

Empanadas, guacamole, quesadillas were good. Drinks were strong.
Service was awful. Food was taken by a server we never saw again. We had to keep asking random people to help us. This is the second time I’ve been here and had similar service before.
I don’t mind overpriced food but it needs to be backed by great service - which Rosa Mexicana National Harbor does not have.

The food here is good. Not something extraordinary. We liked the view and the interior design of the restaurant. However, we visited during a brunch/morning when there were not a lot of people in the restaurant, but yet the service was very slow. It took a long time to get the check, the drinks and coffee/dessert and the waiter would just disappear. It was a frustrating experience as we were ready to start our day, but were delayed by the restaurant's slowness.

This place had Mexican regional flavors that we were not used to or fond of. Table side guacamole was great and the best part of our meal. The tortilla soup wasn’t what we were used to. Presentation was unique and fun, but the soup was more like a sauce. They did take it off our bill, which was nice. Fish tacos were okay. Food was over priced. But service was very good. We have been here before, but our personal taste is more towards like a Uncle Julio’s type restaurant. So you might need to take that into consideration to help you decide whether to come here or not.

We decided to try out this restaurant for the first time and celebrate our daughter’s 14th birthday. I must say we are really disappointed. Although our waiter was polite and good, everything else was not. The only thing we really liked is the guacamole prepared by your table side, other than that, I was not impressed. The kids meal and options are not so good, the main entree weren’t either. I would say we would never go back to this restaurant just because of the food and how long it took to receive our dish. For the price- not worth it. I’m sorry to say but I would rather dine at Guapo’s or Don Julio’s. I feel like my daughters birthday dinner went to waste with our experience at Rosa Mexicano:(

We were disappointed this time after driving from Bristow to National Harbor for lunch. There was a chunk of food under the “clean” plate that was in one of the place settings, and something dried up on my son’s water glass. I explained to our waitress that I’m a vegetarian and didn’t eat anything with meat or meat ingredients. I asked or three, cheese enchiladas with onions inside. I told her I didn’t want any sauce that had a meat base. When our food came to our table, my enchilada had mole sauce. The waitress asked me what sauces I’d like on them when they were remade, she recommended the green sauce, I agreed. My husband and son had already finished with their lunches by the time my plate came out, with red sauce on all three enchiladas which did not contain any onions inside. I didn’t say I decided to save myself the grief and time and are them as is. When the bill came I told our waitress and she told me next time say something and they’ll make them again. I was surprised that after all of that, we still were given a full charge bill of $129. We were not happy with our visit this time at all.

Had dined at the D.C. Rosa Mexicano but this was our first visit to the National Harbor location, and we were not disappointed. We were seated promptly though the restaurant was very busy (should always make a reservation!) The menu is varied - the food was excellent! Our server was great! We'll definitely return anytime we're in the vicinity of one of the locations of this excellent restaurants!

The services is very rushed. Our server seem to have too much caffeine. He talked too fast, and seemed in a rush. It's too pricey for the quality of food served, and flavor of food not authentic Spanish food. Quite bland and the food came out way to fast after ordering. Makes you wonder if its pre prepared and microwaved.
