A neighborhood favorite for the last 25+ years, Rose's never disappoints! The food is excellent, the staff is wonderful, and the location ideal. I'm so grateful to have this neighborhood gem!

One of San Francisco's very best restaurants! The quality of anything on the menu is very high. The Roman-style pizza is fabulous. Salads, pastas, baked goods, cocktails - they all rock too! Open from breakfast to dinner time! Friendly and attentive staff, many of whom have been with Rose's for quite some time now. Indoor seating, or in the patio or under the canopy in the front (with heaters), or in the two parklets. And in a neighborhood that lets you combine a meal at Rose's with other activities.

We live in the neighborhood and didn't go much because we thought it was mostly pizza but during restaurant week they really stepped up. I love the ambiance, the service was nice but the food was really good. Short ribs were divine. Love the wine pairing. We will be back more frequently

I love this restaurant! First went here before the pandemic with a friend who lives nearby, and this is my first time back since then. Did not disappoint! Service was fantastic, we got a huge basked of foccacia "for the table" -- at no cost -- and it was fabulous focaccia at that. All the dishes were diving as well. Can't wait to come back!

I used to go here every Saturday night for years, but have not been in at least 3 years. I think they are eliminating items from certain dishes and adding them as sides, but my memory is not great so I could be wrong. They do not seem to serve bread with meals any more, another cost-cutting measure. The Brussel sprouts are always spot on, as is the 1/2 chicken which is always perfectly cooked. All staff seems new.

Rose's Cafe is a nice little spot on Union St. We went there to check out their Fall Menu for SF Restaurant Week. My husband chose from the regular menu and I had the prefix menu. He order the Grilled Local Calamari with Lentils, Braised Green and Paprika Aioli. We didn’t expect this type of calamari but it certainly WOWed us in a good way. We highly suggest this for anyone who wants to have fresh calamari that’s not fried. My first course was the Roasted Beet Salad. It was a good portion that was simply delicious. My second course was the House Made Fettuccine with cauliflower, leeks, chilies, tomato sauce and Pecorino. It was light and tasty but my taste buds would have been happier if the sauce was a bit more memorable. My husband was in the mood for burger and that’s what he got. Nothing special just something to fill him up. For dessert we shared the Dulce de Leche Lava Cake. It was sweet with a chewy outer crust. Not really to my liking as I was imagining something with a bit more chocolate in it but I’m sure others would disagree. Try it you might say I was all wrong. Oh, I did have the wine paring with each course. I highly recommend the Vinho Verde, Duinta Da Lisa, Portugal, 2020 to start. The Chianti, “Cetamuna”, Badia a Coltibuono, Tuscan, Italy 2019 was light but I prefer a bolder blend. Plus, I wouldn’t recommend anyone having a dessert with the Tawny Port, Dow’s Portugal 2015. It’s just too sweet so either get dessert or the port but not both. Cheers!

What a wonderful find! Attractive space, good menu options and excellent service. It was Restaurant Week and they had a prix-fixe menu but we chose to order off the regular menu, as we didn't want too much food. The roasted chicken was huge, juicy and delicious. The fish was done perfectly. Highly recommend for 2-4 people.

Two of had the roasted chicken. It was dry, tough and obviously overcooked. I would have sent it back but there were others at our table and I didn't want to delay their dinners.

Delicious steelhead and corn. Clam linguini was excellent flavor but super sand clam and a couple with a bit of sand kinda ruined it. The strawberry shortcake was perfect except it was more of a scone rather than a light pound cake or angel type cake. Perfectly baked scone tho. Flavors also good.

Always love Rose’s! Wanted to enjoy the nice weather with a drink outside somewhere- got lucky and snagged a last minute dinner res. The Bellini was refreshing, and exactly what I wanted in the heat. The spaghetti was creamy and delicious, and overall a very non-typical pasta. The skirt steak was perfectly cooked, and the green beans that came with it were well seasoned. The service was warm and efficient. I have been going to Rose’s almost my entire life, and every time I return it’s so nice to find it has retained the old school European feel- full of friendly people making quality and delicious food.
