We were referred to the restaurant by an (Italian) friend who is a chef at a great Italian restaurant in Beverly Hills he was right..... Rossoblu is great.
It was the best Italian food I’ve ever had. Also our waitress was so friendly and helpful. Also ended up getting a cute guys number that was cleaning up so that’s always a plus
Great food and ambiance. Don’t miss the pasta bolognese.
Just when I thought I couldn't love this spot any more...I went for brunch. PHENOMENAL. It really is the best bolognese in the city, and that's just the beginning. Worth the trip downtown for sure.
I loved RossoBlu. The food was delicious, the staff was professional, the space is incredible. Everything about it works. But that said I can't ever see myself returning. I get that it's an homage to Emilia-Romagna but the food is so insanely rich that I regretted eating it an hour later. And I wouldn't pay 29 bucks for a salumi plate that had an ingredient that I didn't enjoy (beef tallow). Steve Samson's restaurant is great - it gets it all right for what it is. But if I wanted to go out for regional Italian I'd choose his old stomping ground - Sotto. I'd choose Sotto's grilled chewy bread over RossoBlu's focaccia basket. I'd choose Sotto's intense flavors without the butter/fat content of RossoBlu. It's weird review I know - but simply put - a fantastic restaurant that just wasn't for me no matter how much I wanted to like it.
Amazing food and service. Outside seats are quieter. Bolognese is a must order.
Rossoblu’s ambiance was the highlight of the dining experience. The food was decent - the pappardelle was good, but the tortelloni was quite bland. The bolognese was flavorful but the pasta was over cooked. The service was great, however my only disappointment was that I had specified in my reservation that we were there to celebrate a birthday - the hostess even asked who’s birthday. However, the dinner ended with no acknowledgment from the restaurant despite that the table next to us received a birthday celebration (sparkling candle on a slice of cake, but wouldn’t know if the cake was on the house).
It was good experience and nice food.
But the pricing is little bit higher than quality.
And they charged 20% service fee from the beginning.
I don’t think it was worth to pay 20% service fee to waiters.
Our new favorite restaurant in LA. The food is great and great for sharing. Never had a dish I didn't love and have had almost everything on the menu. The space is lovely, comfortable and casual. The staff is terrific.
Food was good
Food was excellent & great atmosphere. Perfection.
A double birthday dinner for old friends. The swiss chard tartlet was flavorful, the pastry was light and quite perfect. The mushroom pasta dish was delicious, a nice combination of mushrooms but the key was the perfect texture of the pasta. The staff was attentive and friendly. We over ordered but everything was so good, there were in fact very few left overs (which I took home, for sure!)
Really great service and a delicious menu/ A little pricey, but a cool new place to dine. The balsamic potatoes were off the charts!
Order the pancakes. The absolute best lemon ricotta pancakes ever. Fluffy pancakes with bits of ricotta, topped with fresh berries. The side of pork belly with the crisp skin is a contrast to the texture of the pancakes. Most excellent service.
Great quiet brunch
Dinner was delicious and the wait staff was very helpful and kind, i would absolutely come back here.
Another excellent Rossoblu meal . Restaurant has a cool vibe. Great for a date, but not a romantic evening, a little too noisy.
From the service to the amazing food, our group of four enjoyed both vegetarian and meat dishes (half of us were veg, the other half not). Everyone was covered by the tasty menu. We will definitely be going back!
Our visit to Rossoblu was a great experience. From the pork meatballs and the eggplant appetizer to the mushroom ravioli, the food was excellent. The service was attentive, maybe a little too attentive, but friendly and knowledgeable. Overall a wonderful meal.
Great food and service. given the quality of the food and the experience, Rossoblu is reasonably priced compared to other "high-end" restaurants
Its so yummy! Eggplant, mushroom pasta, margarita, hazelnut gelato.
Send me back tomorrow and the next day. Thanks.
Fantastic dinner, Chef Steve has a great talent, the GM Hans was very hospitable and our server Lani was phenomenal. The tortellini in brodo were outstanding same as everything else! I really recommend this restaurant! I’ll definitely be back!
Food was freaking amazing! Great find!
The wait for the pasta was a bit long but it was worth it once the food arrived. So delicious!! Will definitely be back
I had high hopes as I am a fan of Sotto, Steve Samson's other restaurant. While others have complained about the service, I found the staff to be friendly and attentive. It was the food that was not impressive--I started with the winter vegetable salad that was essentially a huge bowl of greens with a few slivers of apples and delicata squash. I expected it to be a lot more interesting than it was. I skipped the pasta course and opted to go straight to the milk braised pork shoulder. While this dish is probably intended to be shared, I felt that it was just a big old bowl of meat--it was not appealing visually, there was some semblance of a sauce that appeared to be the milk and it was an odd color pink and looked curdled--I just scraped it off. There was nothing remarkable about the meat. Side vegetable of broccoletti was like eating tiny little stems. I liked the glass of wine they recommended.
Great atmosphere, very friendly wait staff and delicious food made the evening spectacular!
Having grown up in LA it is great to see this area energized with the presence of venues like Rossoblu. The meal was what I have looked for at sister, Sotto, comfort-style with creativity and flair. It did not disappoint. From antipasti of eggplant cut into thin ribbon and marinated in oil overnight served with tomato sugo, to the winter salad with squash and farro, the amazingly light but tasty pork meatballs, we moved to the primi dishes of tortellini in brodo which was comfort to the soul. The bolognese ragu was just the right combination of hearty but not over bearing, leaving room for the secondi veal chop. We still had room for dessert. The wine list had sufficient price points of interesting selections offering good value. We had amazing service by a genuinely friendly and knowledgeable server. The atmosphere of the room was upbeat and the large mural was an attraction juxtaposed to exposed beams and ceiling trusses. It is definitely a large open dining area but not without atmosphere to create your own intimacy. Overall, I would gladly go again to try more divinely comforting dishes.
After a bit of a timing mishap, management made the situation much better and were very accommodating. Would certainly go back again.
This was the first time I had been to this restaurant. It is in the fashion district downtown in a very nicely rehabbed factory. The plaza in front is lovely but the neighborhood around this particular block is fairly iffy. The restaurant is well done with a huge mural on one wall. All the concrete makes for a noisy atmosphere--not the loudest in town but up there. The food is quite good with some classical Italian dishes and some creative takes on classical dishes. Everything we had was good enough to make me want to order again. The service is a bit pretentious--"I will be your guide through our menu tonight". Later in the evening when the restaurant was full, the servers tended to disappear and there were significant gaps between courses. But I would certainly be happy to go back!
Food was very good though it wasn’t really family style portions as suggested by staff
I made reservations in advance and let them know it was a special birthday for my brother-in-law and that I wanted it to be extra special. They delivered a wonderful evening that did not disappoint. From a surprise complementary sparkling wine starter to a delicious and beautifully presented charcuterie platter to kick off our evening to the dessert with a candle for his finale, the evening was magical. We tried a variety of dishes and shared everything, every dish was delicious. Thank you to the staff and servers who made it special for all of us!
Above average food at 5 star prices. Would skip. Nothing outstanding. Mostly above average. $130/person.
Pretty space, nice outdoor deck for dining, and cocktails were good. The maitre d’ was really rude and some of the dishes were salty, including a salad. How do you make a salad salty?
Not what we were hoping for. The food was unevenly cooked, the seafood pasta was simultaneously overdone and hard in parts with very little seafood. The vegetable side dish came at the end of the meal. The waiter was doing his best to provide good service but had so many tables to cover. Wouldn't go back because of the technical difficulties cooking the food but the actual flavors were quite good.
The food wasn’t that mind blowing. Thought the maltagali could have been better seasoned aka needed some salt . Loved the Salumi board, and the tortellini brodo. Would have liked more affordable options for bottled wine. Service wasn’t that special, not super attentive. We sat outside- it was chilly but the heaters kept us warm. It happened to be NBA Allstar weekend so there was little extra noise coming from a nearby Location. Loud but it didn’t last all night. Not sure There’s anything that would bring me back.
Rossoblu was excellent. The menu choices were very creative. The pastas outstanding! Great dining experience
Fantastic food. Eggplant appetizer and meatball appetizer are musts.
Read a good review in the LA Times so we decided to try it. Neither of us finished our meal. Sat outside because inside noise was overwhelming. Not a good experience. And, they added a 20% service charge AUTOMATICALLY. Not a good experience
We had a pretty bad experience here. The service was extremely slow. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation at 9pm. We were sat after 9:30 and Didn’t get out of there until after 11pm. The staff was arguing and raising their voices at each other in front of patrons. The food was par at best. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to friends and have already.
Good food but awful awful service. Was seated down in the basement, one whole hour after my reservation, had intermittent fluorescent light from a food prep station beaming down on us, and since we were seated so late they were out of a lot of things we wanted to eat. We were charged a mandatory 20% gratuity for the pleasure. They obviously overbooked and I got the short end of the stick. Management didn't offer to do anything to compensate for the subpar experience.
