The menu follows a Southern-fried meat-and-three concept, meaning diners order a meat, plus three sides. Those will include Ruthie’s mac and cheese, of course, but also white-soy-braised greens, stewed chickpeas and smoked cauliflower with a spicy soy glaze. “We’re going to be changing it a lot based on seasonality,” Hill says of the menu. “ Every vegetable has got to be fantastic because it has to stand on its own.” One thing that will help that: Hill is already growing all of the restaurant’s own herbs at his South Arlington community garden plot.

The Ruthie's brunch menu had something for everyone in our party - from the delicious scratch-made biscuits and house-made jam to the flavorful sausage that is made and smoked on the premises. Ruthie's All Day was the perfect Sunday brunch destination that gave us all a break from our Thanksgiving leftovers.

My husband’s first time, we had to wait almost 10 minutes to be acknowledged once seated.
Server was busy, probably had more tables than normal but even a quick greeting would have been nice. There were quite a few busboys but they didn’t offer water or coffee.
Omelette was good

Busy weekend brunch with indoor and outdoor seating. Great food choices for different food intolerances. Temperature was a little chilly near the windows but air-flow is good to keep us healthy these days :)

We sat at the bar during brunch. Our bartender was a young gentleman and made great recommendations on the menu. He was very quick to serve us and ask us if we needed anything. The food was outstanding as well as the service. 10/10 recommend

We drove down from NJ during Black Friday and totally misjudged how long it would take us to get to the restaurant. I made a reservation for 6:45pm and we got there around 5:35pm. In addition, my reservation was for the outdoor patio and no heat lamps were available because it was so windy and would cause the lamps to toppled over. The hostess was very accommodating and were able to seat us right away and indoors. We ordered 3 appetizers - the corn bread, the grilled octopus and the dry rubbed wings. Everything was delicious. My family thought the corn bread was a little dry but the butter more than make up for it. The entrees were also delicious. We had the salmon entree w/ mac and cheese and hand punched fries, salmon salad, brisket sandwich w/ hand punched fries and hangar steak w/ brussel sprouts and greens. There was lot of food. I have to say the brussel sprouts were best I ever had. If I knew ahead of time, I would have skip my salmon salad and ordered a few of the brussel sprouts sides. Both salmon were cooked to perfection. We were so full, we had no room for desserts.

The smoked duck and the salmon salad were delicious. Good portions of each dish. Someone in our party noted that a bowl of soup is not really a dish to share. Biscuits were disappointing for a southern-themed restaurant.

Not as good as last visits. The hanger steak was tough and the burgers not cooked as ordered. The cornbread excellent as usual. The ribs succulent.

Enjoyed the food, service was friendly if slow on a busy pre-holiday, but it is very hard to carry on a conversation. Everything tasted homemade! Can't wait to come back.

Although it claims to a diner, I've never been to a diner like Ruthie's all day. The food was very, very good with a some dishes worthy of fine dining. Great bar.

We were coming from Charlottesville, VA, for a concert in Alexandria, and wanted to have a special meal with special friends—one of whom we learned was actually his birthday the next day! So it was perfect, and their choice!

We loved the selection of food which was both broad and eclectic, while also familiar and intriguing! Love, love, love the corn bread (gorgeous heap of butter on it’s crown!), and the unexpected twist on a favorite of mine, the hushpuppies (was that shrimp in there?), SO good! The burger and fries were great, and others who got the Cobb Salad, duck, and bbq were all exclaiming and sharing amongst themselves! (A family, so did so safely!) We had one of every dessert—Butterscotch Pudding! Who knew!? What a fun basic but yummy comfort food! The Apple Crisp and Campfire Cookies and Ice Cream were equally as yummy and comforting as they were delicious!

And it all allowed us a sweet and yummy opportunity to catch up. The wait staff, while attentive and sensitive and showed up at all the perfect times with food or refills, were also perceptive and heard us exclaiming about the birthday at the table and included a candle for our birthday dad at the table! A perfect evening and meal together. Best part was not having to cook and just showing up! Prices were reasonable and service was great! The confidence and relief to have our spot reserved through Open Table allowed me to focus on other details related to our trip! It was great to know that was taken care of! And the app allowed me to easily share info with others in our party! It’s come a long way since I last used it when living in DC! (And pre-Covid!) All went smoothly! Thanks to the Ruthie’s All Day staff and Open Table for making our sweet reunion possible, enjoyable, and seamless! Bravo!

The food is good. My main thought is the relatively narrow food menu. Lots more beer and alcohol options which is fun for happy hour.

RAD is a very cool spot with great food. The staff is friendly and responsive. The food was great. My husband's branzino was smoky and delicious, my daughter's salmon was moist and perfectly cooked, and my chicken sandwich was delectable. We ate an early dinner to try to avoid crowds and it worked, and the staff was good about spacing out the tables.

As usual the food was outstanding. We come here about every two weeks. The one thing we have been noticing is for some reason that getting drinks and tea or coffee takes a long time and refills take even longer.

I tried the pork BBQ sandwich instead of the pork BBQ entree. The meat was dry unlike the meat I have eaten on the entree. Forget the sandwich, go for the platter.

I am taking teenage grandchildren for breakfast over the holidays. We are looking forward to trying breakfast.
