Sake Restaurant & Bar Double Bay
Son’s birthday, great food and service. Staff picked up on the occasion and delivered a complimentary cupcake!
Nice Fathers Day lunch. Some items never arrived but we did enjoy what we ate.
food was outstanding! expensive but definitely worth the money. great environment super clean and comfy
Fantastic service. Never disappoint every single time.
Delicious Japanese food with excellent presentation
Friendly staff, great food and excellent sake
Great service and food.
We eat here fairly regularly and whilst the sushi and sashimi platters are always good, on this occasion they were exceptional. Staff also very helpful and efficient.
Very disapppinted! The service was slow and the staff weren’t friendly. The food was below average and expensive. The only thing we really enjoyed was the miso soup and the sorbet at the end. Would not recommend and will not be back!!!
Sake had great food in a beautiful setting. The service was great too. I recommend Sake highly. The menu included a selection of cold and cooked options from sushi to steak. The Dragon Egg was a fun, surprising, and delicious dessert. We’ll definitely eat there again.
Great food and service
As always Sake was sensational by far the best Japanese restaurant. The Toothfish is the best fish I’ve ever eaten. Food is consistently excellent.
Our server was absolutely lovely and super helpful. I love coming to this place
We've been going here for a few years now and have never had a bad meal. If you like classic, as well as, innovative Japanese cuisine, give this place a try!
Overrated and overpriced Tables too squashed Service good, considering ...
Classy restaurant, great decor, wonderful atmosphere, professional and very friendly highly competent waiters, delicious absolutely spectacular food! Enjoyment ++++.
We sat at the sushi bar which made it feel a bit less special than hoped for. Food was really good, all the dishes were tasty and fresh with clean flavours and quality. We had a cocktail and the some champagne, all good. Service was great, all of the team were very good.
Lovely restaurant, very tasty meals! Authentic Japanese food, especially recommending Dragon egg for dessert.
The food was nice - the pork was a bit dry. The cabbage was a winner.
Service was "OK". waitress spilt wine on the table, then another waitress saw me pour water in my glass and moved the glass... water everywhere: not even an apology or a clean up. Pretty bad.
Being from the industry myself I do look for details. Unfortunately this venue do not really pay attention to them.
All in all a nice restaurant, however I think service could be much better. Should learn from other venues.
Sake has been my favourite restaurant for a couple of years. I took my partner there for his birthday last night as it is his favourite restaurant as well. The service was great as always and the food was still great but we really missed some of our favourite dishes - miso cod, kingfish jalapeño, robata. We also really miss the white chocolate and rhubarb dessert which hasn't been on the menu for a while now - BRING IT BACK PLEASE!! We probably won't be going as often as we used to.
Great attentive staff, yummy food great variety, too much choice and that a good thing. and come out very satisfied
The service we received was great, food was also very good, couldn't fault any dishes. Menu prices were too expensive for what the food was. $10 for one roasted corn cob with a bit of white pepper and bonito???
was good, but preferred the previous menu.
Special place, enjoy it every time.
the new menu is lacklustre to say the least. why you would change the classics is beyond me. my partner and I we're regular guests and used to love the shumi, dragon ash, chilled crab salad, green leaf salad, and jalapeno kingfish. what you have attempted to replace these with is disappointing to say the least and we'll be looking for a new Japanese restaurant as a result.
all the best with the new menu and ownership
Great food but a bit pricey
First time in Sake Double Bay - Have previously only eaten at Sake in the rocks (which I love)
We were welcomed by a lovely hostess, and made comfortable. From there the experience for our group went downhill.
The waiters were arrogant, and in our face constantly making it difficult to have a conversation during our meal.
The new Neil Perry menu (which we were excited about) was well sold by the waiters but absolutely failed to meet the standard we have come to expect of Sake.
Neil Perry has arrived at Sake and changed everything about it that used to make this restaurant a favorite of mine. No longer a frequent visitor.
I am a regular at Sakè double bay, and was disappointed to find that the menu has changed.
I used to always brag about the dining at sakè to friends and family, and am sad to say that I won't be anymore.
There was nothing wrong with the popcorn shrimp previously, and I was very sad to see that the sauce now comes separate on the side. It does not have the same taste. The portion sizes have also changed dramatically.
Great service and food. Long time fan of the Rocks location so I was pleasantly surprised on the quality of this restaurant. Special note to the head waiter who went the extra mile to make us feel special and our waitress who was personable and hilarious. We'll be booking my father in laws birthday dinner there soon!
Good ambience , excel food , excellent service expensive but worthwhile
The staff need to be trained!!!
Sake at Rocks much better
The service here was hit and miss and unco-ordinated. 3 staff walked past us upon arrival - not even eye contact. Water and drinks orders forgotten
Food came out out of order. Disappointed
Seats at food bar become uncomfortable. Would have preferred a higher back and table.
FAWLTY TOWERS !
Waited so long for food had to cancel and leave, but they still managed to charge us way over the price and we had to return for a refund of the overpayment !
Why does someone have to wait 45 minsfor a simple chicken dish !
The place is simply a JOKE. This will be highlighted to 96000 readers on TripAdvisor
Fussy food, very small portions, very expensive, lots of competition in the fine dining category....
Food service was of good quality and prompt, however, service was quite cold (lady manager and section waiter both had a sad look on their face, must be having a bad day). Definitely lacking the warm and friendly service received at Sake The Rocks.
Good food. Terrible service. Won't be back.
Food was nice but overpriced for what it was but service was shocking. Basically had to beg someone to take our order
