Salt + Marrow Kitchen
My wife and I visited Salt+Marrow during a quick weekend escape. Environment was noisy as it was a very open space just off the hotel lobby and bar. My wife had shrimp and grits which was really good. I had the salmon which I would have rated really good had I not tasted the shrimp and grits which was far better. I was really interested in their low country boil special but it was all you can eat and the price was ridiculous. I would have been happy to just have one serving at a reasonable price. I had read some reviews about lack of service but my experience was at the other end of the spectrum. Just wanted them to leave me alone. Seemed there was someone different asking me a question with every bite. The location is not convenient and parking here is atrocious. Streets are narrow and are made even more narrow with on street parking. On street parking was free when we visited but it is clear they are getting ready to start charging as they had meters installed which were not turned on yet. It's right between a minor league baseball stadium and a large apartment complex with on street parking only. There is a parking garage across the street. There is nice walking path along the river that my wife and I walked down after dinner. Far better places to eat in North Augusta/Augusta that are easier to access without having to find or pay for parking.

As the city of North Augusta grows, there will be a few challenges with space. The city is making the proper adjustments to include another parking deck in the area, so that retail and hotel guests are not affected. I cannot express how impressed and how much I love our visit for our anniversary. It was our first time there and will most definitely go back. Price was on point and worth it and our waiter Adrian wowwwwww was outstanding. We got a glass of champagne on the house for our anniversary the experience was awesome!!!! Please go

It was okay. The drinks were watered down. The food was just ok (kale & apple salad, pork meatball small plate). I’ve had far better food and drinks at Craft and Vine or Finch and Fifth. Paid about the same. The only plus was the rooftop bar. Drinks were worse up there.

First time visiting and was very enjoyable, will return. My meal was good and two co-workers also enjoyed theirs so we’ll return.

Unique menu with plenty of options. The food was very good. Service was good as well.
We had the worst service for my husbands birthday dinner. The server only came to our table three times and was given a automatic gratuity due to the party size. Which I believe was the reason she ignored us. The food was not great. They over cooked 5 out of 5 steaks. Drinks were not refilled. We waited over an hour asking to pay our bill. We spoke with the manager about the service. No apology and no response.

Simply Outstanding!! When I walked in and smelled the wood grill I knew it would be special. When I tasted the food that was cooked over the wood burning grill I knew I had found my new favorite restaurant. Will be back often

Pleasantly surprised - after all, it's hotel restaurant. Good food. The menu was limited but all in our party had no problem finding something that was a good choice for them. Service was slow and not all that professional but very pleasant. I suspect that's just because of the newness and they will get their act together.

Oysters came out cold but they quickly brought out hot ones once I let them know. Staff was polite and accommodating but a little on the slow side. Food was tasty.Would definitely eat here again!

Ambiance was great. Our waiter Andre was very helpful and attentive. I had the short ribs, which were delicious. My husband had the shrimp & grits, which was more like shrimp & soup because the grits were watery, but the flavor was there. Overall, we enjoyed our experience here.

Alright. I really wanted to trust the OT ratings over the Yelp ratings but.. I think Yelpers got this right.
Apps - shoshito peppers and clams & sausage. Clams & sausage was the best dish of the night, we really enjoyed. Shoshito peppers were pretty meh, and the sauce added exactly nothing.
Mains - Hubs wanted the tomahawk pork, they were out (at 6 pm on a Monday? So they just didn't prepare it for the day, apparently). Pushed him to order the special (20 oz ribeye for $60... It was just okay, underseasoned, definitely overpriced). The short rib was very good, enjoyed the veg & potatoes it came with as well.
Drinks - we tried 4 different cocktails, 2 were good (Tennessee Mule and Spicy Cucumber Marg), one was okay (Boulevardier), and one was basically undrinkable ("Sazerac" - it was nottt a Sazerac.)
Service note - it was slow (again, Monday in Augusta, given), our waiter didn't have many other tables to take care of. We saw the apps come out on the service counter a solid 5 minutes before he noticed and brought them over. Mains were a little more timely. Dessert was not offered, nor were any drinks after the first round (we had to ask for them...)
TL;DR - if we return, it says more about the lack of choices in the CSRA than it does about the quality of the food.

Let me first start by saying, I love Crown Plaza, I love the modern funky atmosphere, the rooftop bar is awesome, the hotel itself is gorgeous. However, I took my mother for Mother’s Day for lunch, the restaurant was not busy at all. Although I like the modern look of the restaurant, it seemed a little more cafeteria like. There was probably 5 groups of 4 in the restaurant while we were there, the service was extremely slow, the food took a very long time and when we did finally receive it, the “fried chicken” that we all ordered were more like chicken nuggets, the side dishes were cold and the food was just mediocre, it was not uneatable but it was lacking in flavor. The waitress was really sweet, she checked on us several times and apologized profusely for our wait, she brought us 3 mimosas from the bar to make up for the long wait on the food. I noticed the cooks in the back coming out, laughing and cutting up, fairly loud along with the waitresses. In my opinion, this is not acceptable for an upscale classy restaurant that I feel the Salt and Marrow is trying to portray. I am not sure that I would actually go back there to eat, I would definitely try Jackson’s Bluff and see if that is any better- but I will say that I have patronized the downstairs bar several times and the bartenders have never been attentive, it takes a long time to get drinks and they simply seem uninterested if you get a drink or not. The rooftop on the other hand is incredible, it’s beautiful and the bartenders are very quick to serve. Hope that this is just a hurdle for a new and hopefully upcoming very needed and wanted restaurant in North Augusta.

This was for a mother’s day Brunch. The plates were inconsistent me and my aunt ordered the same thing. Grits were cold, menu said fish and grits included mushrooms none were on the plate. When we asked when our food Came out we were told the chef was cooking some. Before we left still never received them. This was for brunch on mother’s day. If the food is that inconsistent for brunch i won’t be trusting them for a $25 plus dinner.

Great service and good atmosphere. Went to dinner toward sunset and got an outdoor seating for an amazing view. Food was delicious and service was top notch.

The restaurant has potential but they need to improve the service and half the items on the menu. The beet salad was great but the oysters were subpar. The fish special was good but small portion. The cauliflower steak came with none of the vegetables that were described and the barbecue sauce overwhelmed the potential of the dish to be a healthier option.

Excellent new addition to North Augusta. After reading some mixed reviews, I was a bit skeptical. Management and staff took the critiques and adjusted accordingly. This makes it to the top of the list for dining out in the area. Highly recommend for any occasion.
Menu was intriguing. The food was good but pricey for what it was. Service was okay and could potentially be great if the staff has more training. Environment was amazing. I will definitely try again after they settle.

I would like to see more items added to the dinner menu(soups and fish). During our visit, the kitchen was out of the pork meatballs and also the clams. The menu had only a few choices so having two items unavailable was frustrating to our party of six.

Food was very good. A little pricey for the experience. Terrible service. Waiter gave us our food and we didn't see him again until we had to ask for our check. Multiple excuses about how busy they were, but I failed to see that honestly.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the vibe but service was painfully slow. The wait staff was extremely pleasant but the food and drinks took forever. Not sure if the kitchen was backed up or the wait staff was slow to pickup the orders. When the food did arrive it was not hot.

I am so excited to review this restaurant! Our event was a birthday dinner for a good friend of mine. We chose to dine on the outside patio and to our surprise turned out to be a great idea because there was a live band playing for the beer festival. The stage was setup in the parking lot which gave us the feeling of having front row seats to a concert. Our waitress (Ana) greeted of with a nice smile and a great wine selection. The raw oysters and clams with pork sausage kept my mouth watering for more. I ordered the beef short ribs. They were seasoned perfectly, so tender that I could've eaten them with a spoon. My friends decided on the steak and potatoes. They were very happy that the steak was cooked correctly. When our waitress cleared the table our plates were empty. We did not order dessert this time. I urge anyone that has not dined here to make a reservation as soon as possible you will not regret it.

This was my first visit to Salt and Marrow since it opened earlier this year. I hosted a party of four for dinner and had hoped to be seated at one of their outdoor tables. Unfortunately, there was a band set up for another adjacent restaurant that was too loud to allow for conversation without yelling. We were seated at a windowside table with a nice view. Our waiter was very attentive and personable. S&M has a small wine list that has great choices within all price ranges. The food was very good and diverse. Our table had orders ranging from ribeye and caullifower steaks to grilled chicken to beef short ribs. All were delivered in a timely manner and nicely plated. Salt and Marrow is one of the best restaurants in the CSRA and will be on my list of "go to" restaurants.

We ate here right before the Augusta at Night concert and I was concerned about service/speed after reading other reviews. However, the service was prompt, polite, and professional. The food was 4/5 with the mashed potatoes being bland but the chocolate cake dessert was amazing. Lovely atmosphere and not too loud given the high traffic.

In town for the Masters, made reservations so we'd have a good meal for my son's birthday. When we drove up, the area is really neat, with the minor league baseball team stadium and several restaurants and bars around. I must say when I saw the restaurant was in a hotel, I was a bit concerned I'd been duped. But once entering, I found a nice vibe and an open kitchen. Our server was very prompt and professional. The manager came by each table and presented a glass of champagne and a shrimp cocktail. My son had a bone-in ribeye and he loved it. I had the best NY Strip I've had. It was a good wine list and the bar made great drinks.

This place has a Texas style open fire spit. The flavor this generates is extraordinary. Had a dry aged bone-in ribeye, this piece of meat was cooked perfectly and the herbaceous taste of the dry aging really came through. The wine list, while not exhaustive, still had some great wines, and some of the best prices I have seen in a while. Also tried the quail appetizer, the rub they used on those small pieces was really good. If there is a spot to improve, it would be the dessert menu..

We were in town for the Masters and had a warm welcome with a glass of Champagne and a small serving of crab claws. Nice Touch! Service and food were both exceptional. My only observation was that the temperature was a bit warm due to a HVAC issue, but the server (Brooke) was apologetic and did everything she could to make us comfortable. Definitely on our repeat list!
