This place is amazing!

Too cold to dine outside - quality was disappointing. Staff was lovely

They had the place set up beautifully and seemed very COVID responsive...we arrived early for our reservation and they still accommodated us...service was energetic and friendly though you could tell they were a bit under staffed probably another COVID fallout...branzino was excellent as were the caesar salads, pasta Faggioli, and linguini with clam sauce. Gorgonzola gnocchi and chicken dish were both good but not quite as amazing as the other items...wine was reasonably priced and portions were generous. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and would definitely go back when in the area.

From the moment we arrived we knew our choice was a good one. We sat outside in a shed that was open on one side. It had heaters to keep us comfortable during dinner. The food was freshly prepared and delicious. The wine choices were very good and reasonably priced. The owners were friendly and willing to please. The bathroom was clean and cozy just like the restaurant inside. I’ve already recommended this place to others. We will be back again soon.

Great food and excellent service

San Gennaro is always the perfect place to dine. The service, food and atmosphere are always perfect and the Chef Gennaro is always friendly and makes sure his customers are happy. We have been going to this outstanding Italian restaurant for years and never disappointed. Highly recommend!

My absolute favorite restaurant in the Bronx.
as you enter the door it seems to be in Italy. the place is very clean and perfect for any type of occasion, I felt at home. Francesco the waiter is Italian, very nice, professional and attentive, as well as all the staff even the owner Gennaro is Italian. I’m The food it’s “oh my god” delicious and fresh!
I'm literally addicted to the Nudi pasta but everything it’s amazing.

The food in all of the restaurants on Arthur Avenue is terrific. However, at San Gennaro, everything was excellent! The people are fun, too. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants an authentic Arthur Avenue experience.

Such a cute Italian restaurant! Loved the food and the wine. An excellent experience all around!

The food was absolutely delicious. The waiters were very friendly and nice. What I loved was that the food was brought out to our table in a timely matter so that was a plus. :-) I had an amazing experience there and I definitely will be back to dine there again. This was the first time we’ve eaten at San Gennaro. We’re from Staten Island and we go to Arthur Ave a couple of times a year, usually after a visit to the Bronx Zoo Or Botanical Gardens. We went on New Year’s Day with a group of 14, including 2 children and 2 vegans! We decided on San Gennaro because they take reservations and were enthusiastic about our large group.

The service and food were outstanding. In addition to the regular menu, they offered a good selection of tempting specials. I ordered the branzino special, an entire fish surrounded by shrimp, clams and shrimp in a slightly spicy tomato based sauce. Absolutely delicious. 2 of the guys ordered the ribeye special, which I tasted, and it was excellent.

Prices were very reasonable. Entrees under $30, many under $20. Shareable appetizers around $15. The imported buffalo mozzarella with prosciutto and arugula on flatbread had 4 good-sized pieces. And it was exceptionally delicious.

Very impressed how quickly the food arrived for so many people!

We will definitely return next time we’re in the area.

San Gennaro was a delightful place to have Christmas dinner. The service was attentive and the waiter was outgoing and really engaged with us. I had the lasagna special -- phenomenal! Everyone else at the table loved the food, although some of the portions were a bit small for the price. Definitely one of the better places in Little Italy.

Small restaurant with great food with lots of authentic Italian character.

We went here for Christmas Day. There were nine of us. It was a wonderful experience. The owner/chef/ and staff were very welcoming. Restaurant is small but cozy. The bathroom is so pretty. You feel like you are in someone’s home. My favorite dish was the Nudi pasta....it was exceptional. I also enjoyed the zucchini appetizer special. Great wine selection too. We will be back San Gennaro!

Was my first visit in this restaurant I get really impressed about the menu and the special they have the bufalo mozzarella melt in your mouth omg!!! the branzino and gnocchi special ( sausage e cannellini beans) out of this world .... after we had homemade dessert and they have a big selection of homemade limoncello all different flavor I get the basil and my girl get the limoncello cream outstanding..... definitely we'll be going back. Now this is my favorite restaurant

We went for lunch and it was quiet, so we had great service. My husband thought the fried calamari was a 10/10, and he is a foodie. I would have liked it hotter. Our 4 person party loved the veal chop, the sole special, and my fish was delicious but the sauce was a little heavy for Bronzino which is a mild fish. We had a great time!

We sat at one of the 3 tables near the front entrance and door. The room appeared to be an addition or extension to the original restaurant. It was cold and drafty at times. The service was OK. My husband ordered a second glass of wine that came after the meal, but we weren't charged. My husband ordered the special veal osso buco which was on the dry side. While one pasta was just OK, another was very good. However, the pasta portions are small so make sure you order plenty of appetizers or you'll be hungry. In fact, the best part of the meal was the special flat bread otherwise, the meal wasn't memorable nor would we dine again.

We were a large party of 8, they were wonderful and did there best to accommodate us. The food was unbelievably delicious. I would definitely recommend to friends and relatives.

This is a very cute restaurant with good food reasonably priced.

Luckily they accepted our reservation that we had made within the previous hour, though were looked a little panicked when we showed up. Some of the food was good but the lasagna special was terrible: dense pasta densely packed, little ricotta cheese filling and not enough sauce. I kept thinking the lasagna felt like it had been reconstituted, as if previously frozen... just not a fresh “special.” The kids enjoyed their pastas and the Caesar salad was tasty. But not worth the price.
