    Out of bacon and English muffins at brunch. We were the only ones in the restaurant- Bloody Mary had no lemon/limes/olives any garnishment.

    They were out of food. We asked for 2 items on the menu and were told they were out. no one else was there as well. it was like a ghost place.

    A very dissspointing meal. We checked the menu online before making the reservation and many of the items were not available … very disappointing We hate reading a menu on an iPad! I ordered a medium rare hamburger and it was awful and overcooked like a hockey puck

    We really enjoyed our dinner at Seven during Clayton Restaurant Week. The Brussel sprouts appetizer was delicious and the Steak Frites were tender and tasty. Sara took great care of us.

    We got a reservation for this restaurant multiple hours before NYE night. We got there, didn't get any service, waited almost an hour for just a drink and then they ran out of steak as well. If you cannot support a NYE night then you should not be open--- we basically got screwed out of our NYE dinner b/c the restaurant was not prepared whatsoever. Either shut down or don't take reservations.

    We arrived and no one knew about our reservation. Were sat and then no one approached us for 20 minutes. Ordered drinks and never got them. Ordered filets were given sirloins with no sides and the bill came after they “adjusted” it for us there was still a drink on there we never got and charged full price even though we received the wrong steaks. Awful.

    Hugely disappointing. Very difficult to find an online menu in advance so we went into the reservation semi blind, thinking the food and ambience would match the quality and elegance of the Seven Gables itself. When we arrived, the restaurant was completely empty with one person seemingly running the bar, the restaurant and the kitchen. Not a peep from the kitchen. The bartender handed us an “interactive” menu via iPad - where prices were hidden behind hyperlinks. Prices were outrageously high and the images of the meals looked even less appetizing than the already uninspired descriptions. We bolted. Whole place needs a reboot.

    They claim brunch…. But it’s a Continental breakfast for the hotel guests !? Very small room . Don’t go for “ brunch” …. Go to Starbucks and enjoy .

    We were hoping to dine on the back patio, because it was a beautiful night. However, there was a private event - and there was no way of knowing that on Open Table. We were seated outside in the front of the restaurant - which was nice - but not quite the same ambiance as the beautiful patio. Our waiter was in training, which was fine. The food was hot and delicious. We finished the evening inside at the bar - where we met some interesting people visiting from California and Utah. All in all, it was a nice evening and we will definitely return.

    The staff at both the restaurant and the hotel were excellent. I was a very busy weekend as the St. Louis Art Fair was happening right in front of the hotel. I know they were all working long hours however, that was not going to stop them from making a wonderful experience. The weather was perfect so we chose to sit outside in the atrium - we could have been anywhere in the world with the charm.

    We sat in outdoor patio, great ambiance! We had to look for a staff person to seat us when we walked in. After receiving our food we asked for salt and pepper and it was quite a while before she came back with the item. This was a Wednesday night and I wondered if they might have been understaffed. The food was very good and we would definitely go back.

    It was freezing cold. The food was not good - cheap ingredients - at least the cheese on my omelet was like melted cheese whiz. Very disappointed because I remember how good this restaurant was years back.

    The scallop cakes were very good. The gazpacho was weird, though pretty tasty. We ate in the picturesque courtyard, but it was pretty noisy-air conditioning units plus loud piped-in music. Service a bit slow, but very friendly. Probably won’t go back.

    We went to Sunday brunch. There were only three, 4-top tables, with seated guest, in the two eating areas, and it took over 50 minutes to get our food. It took 20 minutes just to get a glass of orange juice. Our server was very polite and seemed to be the only one working. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen. Two of us had chicken and waffles and the chicken was overcooked and black and the waffles were undercooked and cold. The butter wouldn’t even melt. The BLT only had a tomato on one half of the sandwich and no mayonnaise. The day before we ate the free breakfast for the hotel guests. We had a delicious, full breakfast featuring crispy bacon, scrambled eggs, roasted potatoes, waffles, pastries, fruit, assorted breads, and yogurt.

    Celebrating our Anniversary……The service has horrible. My Cesar salad was to come with Roman lettuce but can with white iceberg lettuce. It was old n nasty looking. The replacement salad I asked for dressing on side it came with some much dressings I can drink it. I just canceled my order and waited until my husband finished eating. This is the first time I seen them on CRW. I hope it’s there last time.

    We had made reservations for Sunday brunch & arrived a few minutes early. There was only 1 other party seated indoors, and people dining outdoors in the courtyard were having to come inside to the bar for “self-service” of their beverages. No one approached our party (nor the party who had walked in a minute before we did) and avoided making eye contact despite seeing us all standing there by the hostess stand for at least 20 minutes. A member of our party had to call out loudly to a passing server that we had reservations and would like to be seated please (which appeared to startle the server), at which point the server quickly ducked into a side door and was heard to exclaim loudly that people with reservations were here, what should she do? Eventually she resurfaced and told our party that it would be awhile longer. She then told the other party that had preceded us that since they didn’t have reservations they needed to go elsewhere. The food was okay when we finally got it (one order came out without the eggs, but the server eventually brought them out after we inquired about them) and the service was painfully slow overall. There was nothing so spectacular about the food or ambiance that would prompt us to return anytime soon, if ever. Overall, a big disappointment.

    Service was terrible. One hour to get drinks we ordered. Went to bar and asked status…she’d forgotten. Very apologetic, but c’mon! Salad I ordered was dressed differently than I asked. The dressing I asked for was on the side. Seriously? Then, I was told my entree was unavailable as the last order was sold to a table that arrived thirty minutes after we did. By the way, we were table of three and they were table of fourteen. Never experienced service like this. That said, food was good and setting was nice.

    I reserved space to host a retirement luncheon for a valued friend and colleague. The restaurant prepared a special dessert at her request, gave us a comfortable, semi-private space, and were cordial and accommodating. The food and drinks were excellent.

    Neat setting in courtyard. Could use some clean-up. The two servers bouncing between front, bar and us made for slow service, no bussing help and several errors. all were corrected and the two young people were not very polite but poorly trained. You have a gem of a location, but we keep getting disappointed and going next door or elsewhere.

    How disappointing was out night? Very. When this restaurant and space was overhauled, it was a hidden gem in Clayton. This week we went to dinner here. Service: Our waiter, Tasha, was pleasant at first and took our orders. Tasha didn't return to our table for 90 minutes, at which time we were told our food was almost ready. Another 15 minutes later and our apps and entrees all arrived together. The restaurant wasn't even that busy. Service needs training. Food: Yes it took 90 minutes to get our food from the time we ordered. The mushroom risotto was cold-lukewarm. The salmon entre was overcooked and completely dried out. The burger was served with no accompaniments and was overcooked and dried out too. We were very disappointed with this visit to Seven Gables, especially since we've had such great experiences and food previously. Too bad.

    Wow! You are short staffed. The ladies who took care of us were great but I felt bad for them since they were the entire wait staff. Food was great. Patio was lovely.

    The atmosphere is way above normal. Ambient lights hanging overhead, with more lighting wrapped around the trees, and gently flowing water was heard from nearby fountains. After a cheerful hostess seated us at our choice of table location we were greeted promptly by our server. The menu offered a wide price range to satisfy anyone's budget. After one visit we decided to make this restaurant a frequent home for the perfect combination of atmosphere, service, and delicious food!
