At Sotto, Executive Chef Steve Samson and Chef de Cuisine Craig Towe deliver an honest, market-driven menu of regionally-inspired Southern Italian dishes, including fresh housemade pastas and Neapolitan pizza cooked in an artisan wood burning oven. This wood burning oven was built onsite by Neapolitan craftsmen with traditional techniques that have been passed on from generation to generation and is the first of its kind in the Los Angeles area.



Our food is complemented by a fresh, seasonally relevant cocktail program with a strong background in the classics and the utilization of lesser known Italian liqueurs. We also offer an eclectic list of boutique wines from Southern Italy.

After several years and lots of hype, Beverly Hills' Sotto, one of LA’s great Italian restaurants is still warranting the praise.

These restaurants are ones that you want to bring a friend to, just so they can also experience the duck carnitas, or burger, or whatever dish the place is known for.

I love the food here, but my only negative comment about this restaurant is the extreme noise level. "Energetic" is the option that's given above (which is a nice way to say "deafening"), but there are no sound-absorbing features in the seating area and so when it's full of people, the noise is unbelievably loud (which only increases because people have to shout to be heard). Love the food, love the feel -- and I would recommend it (and indeed, have recommended it), but I wish it weren't so excruciatingly loud. My ears were ringing when I left. (And tis wasn't because they were blasting music either -- it simply is what happens when you have an enclosed space with a lot of people talking simultaneously. )

This place is my absolute favorite for Italian on any occasion. I have been for birthdays, date nights, casual dinner and more! This is the place I take friends and family that come to town. I love the ambience, the food is OUT OF THIS WORLD.. in particular the Fiorata pizza. The staff is so knowledgeable and make you feel like the most important guest in the dining room. Did I mention it's my favorite place ever?

Did not inform that water will be $7 and opened a new one for us because we finished it. Service was not the best and did not help us find our lost necklace at the restaurant. Overall, the experience was whatever....

The food at Sotto is always delicious, consistent, and presented well. I can't say enough about the service, everyone is friendly and makes you feel welcomed. It's a neighborhood gem! Continues to be a favorite.

Consistently good. Took my daughter for a quiet dinner and we weren’t disappointed. Brussel sprouts are excellent. Tried a new pasta as well as s pizza. Everything was delicious. We will definitely return again soon.

Consistently great food and one of the best happy hours in the neighbourhood. The Pizzas are a must - especially the mushroom - and the lamb ragu is a stand-out pasta dish. Great wine list and the service is always friendly and efficient. It's a classy place.

What a great place! The atmosphere is cozy and reminds me of a classic New York-style Italian place. The food is great, the servers and the som were both friendly, fun and knowledgable. We had a great time and will definitely be back.

Last visit was flawless and amazing, campanelle nero was a game changer, beautifully executed. Best pizza I’ve had outside of NYC, and excellent service. Dolcetto @ 15$ a glass! Yay!

Becoming very popular so u need reservations.

Only drawback is noise level!!

We asked for small roof off main room for quiet, but it was booked.

Pizza crust was soggy; noise level awful. People at the table one down from us were shouting at each other. My friend and I had to repeat everything because we couldn't hear each other.

Sotto has become my stand-by whenever I visit LA, which is frequent. Great menu, fabulous wines, and a great "Mercato" section that features whatever is freshest/ best at local Farmer's Markets. Don't miss it!

Squid Ink Pasta!

This place has so many sexy dishes. We were seated a mere thirty minutes later than our reservation, but with a full house filled with people who want to stay, great drinks at the bar, and offered a bread/olive plate on the house, we didn't mind the wait. The squid ink pasta is my absolute fav, and the octopus appetizer is delicious too. You can't go wrong with the pizzas, and they are big enough to share or eat one alone.

Very noisy. We switched tables to get away from noise and had to sit by the kitchen. The wine list is fun. Food good and service was okay. Worth a try as this may not always be the case.

No inviting welcome and the person who we did approach wasn’t even the host so that was confusing. We stood for 10 mins after we finally checked in before someone came to inform us that our table was not available and offered us a backup.

Server was great, great atmosphere but the food was just ok. Might just not be our thing.

Lots of health code violations....Chef wiped the sweat from his face with his bare hands but never washed his hands and lots drinking beer in the kitchen. Guess that’s the new thing!

Enjoyed Sotto with a group of friends on Friday night. Place was crowded, service was excellent. Loved the food as always. The pizza, pasta and appetizers are always amazing. Try the meatballs and the squid ink pasta. Great and reasonably priced wine selection. Always love Sotto.

We had an 8pm reservation. We waited 30 minutes to be served. It took another 10 for our server to greet us. We spent the rest of the evening waiting for EVERYTHING. When the salads finally showed up all but one showed up,10 minutes later it arrived. When the entrees finally came (which was at least 40 minutes after the appetizers) all but one came and that last one arrived 20 minutes later. The rest of us were done eating. The waiter opened our wine, we did all the pouring. He was a virtual ghost. They were cleaning the kitchen and the tables when they delivered our free dessert. The shame of it is, the food is really good. Just not good enough to come back. Sadly this will be a restaurant of one timers, no matter how good the food is, the service is not worth a return visit.
