What Insiders Are Saying
Fancy fine dining, San Francisco style. Bring your elders.
A perfect spot for a birthday celebration. We love Spruce!
Superb, as always!
The excellent food was only outmatched by the excellent service. I highly recommend Spruce.
This is such a wonderful place. The people who work there (literally everyone) is warm, gracious in their duties and fantastic. The food was perfection, as always.
Spruce is now our "go to" place in the city! With all of the great restaurants San Francisco has to offer, this one NEVER fails to impress!!! The food is creatively conceived, artistically presented, and served with knowledge, flair and enthusiasm. Every aspect of the dining experience demonstrates respect for the customer and profession, alike. Bravo, Team Spruce!!!
Excellent, the food was great.
The service was the best
the selection was good
Selected Spruce because of location and ambiance. Food was well prepared and waiter split plates we wanted to share. Sound level is great as one can actually have a conversation without yelling. Only complaint was the choice of background music didn’t fit the scene.
Our server was terrible. He took forever and did not get the orders correct. I've had good experiences in the past. They did not seem well prepared for Father's Day brunch.
My granddaughter and I celebrate our shared Bdays here every year. It never disappoints!
Wonderful experience celebrating 2 birthdays !
Everyone enjoyed the evening from start to finish! Our out of town friends took special notice and expressed they’d likely return on their next trip! Thank you!!!
I have always enjoyed Spruce. This time we arrived for a 115 reservation at 125 pm and had to wait since our table was not ready. After we were seated took the waitress about 15 min to get our order. This was a business lunch so we needed to move fast. I ordered the Modesto Chicken Salad - chicken breast was too tough. I can do this more tender rather than chewy and rubbery. Cook probably left it on the burner for too long. I have had their burger previously and it was awesome. So skip the chicken - they are not quite there yet on that one. Mostly quiet so great for conversations and serious discussions
Overpriced. Didn’t digest the chicken because of the heavy condiment (let alone the price). Very few wines under 80$ a bottle. The City has so much more to offer these days at that price. However tables and seats are spacious, which is rare in San Francisco
Outstanding experience with friends sharing a celebratory meal. The food was excellent and the service took it to the next level. A delightful dining experience! Recommended
Daughter’s first job.
Brunch on Sunday with family was awesome
very sedate place to have brunch with friends. Menu has something for everyone.
Best pancakes ever!
We loved this place for celebrating our wedding anniversary! Great service and great food!
Lots of misses and hits. The setting is beautiful, the food was delicious, the wine selection and service was outstanding and there is clearly a level of professionalism you’d expect in a restaurant of this caliber. However there were some glaring shortfalls. The service was spotty. An entree came out of the kitchen lukewarm. It was replaced and came out hot with a small soup given while we were waiting, but this should not happen it a Michelin starred establishment. While the deserts were excellent, the coffee was undrinkable. Bitter and cold. After 5 minutes of trying to find our server, a busboy kindly volunteered you help. I will say the wine service was great. The somm did a great job steering my through the vast list.
I’m not trying to be nit picky but an establishment of this caliber should not disappoint on so many little things. Perhaps it was an off night, but I won’t be back to find out.
Amazing!, Good ambient, good quantity of food in the dish, good price vs the quality and quantity of food.
An amazing experience in Pac Heights. A must if you live or visit San Francisco. Extraordinary food with impeccable service. Bfive stars in my book!
Quiet and serene, excellent food, beautiful presentation on a wonderful shopping street with lots of independent shops.
We had a 5pm reservation, and with thursday rush hour traffic we we’re almost 30mins late but still accommodated me & my super friend w/courtesy heads up to the resto of course. If not for the 7pm show that we need to get too we could have taken our sweet time savoring the dishes we ordered which was perfection and too pretty to eat! Service was impeccable, just the right amount of check ins w/o frequent interruptions to our enjoyable conversation. We’ll definitely be back for dessert w/c we got no time to try, but got some small sweet treats before we leave. Until next time spruce!
I love this place - it has such class and as someone who loves the great New York restaurants, this is what it feels like. Polish, quality, attention to detail but not stuffy - a great energetic atmosphere.
Spruce is a just a win all around!
It was our anniversary dinner and they went above and beyond to make it special!! From a handwritten card to complimentary appetizers and desserts, we were so impressed. The service and food were also impeccable.
Everything was perfect - from the comfort of the chairs all the way through the coffee service...
Spruce is one our favorite restaurants in San Francisco. The food , service and ambiance is always superb.
My husband and I had a delightful lunch. Spruce is a relaxing upscale restaurant with delightful service and simply delicious food. Hope to come back soon.
Great food, service. Good vibe.
I had the duck dish which was delicious and well-prepared. My wife had the halibut dish which she enjoyed immensely. We were celebrating our 18th anniversary so it was a very special meal and a very special evening.
We had our wedding reception at Spruce 10 years ago and this was our revisit to celebrate our anniversary. A hand-written card waiting on our table was such a warm touch. We started off with 2 mouth-watering dishes (stone fruit salad and kampachi), continuing with dry aged NY steak and dry aged duck breast. We consider ourselves (as most of you are here!) gourmets and every single dish was perfectly executed. We ate our way through 3-scoops of assorted sorbet/ice cream (try passion fruit!) and creamsicle tart. With extra dishes the kitchen had sent out, we were happily full. Chase was our server and we could not ask for a better person to take care of us on this special occasion together with our 3-year-old. Big thanks to the Spruce team. Thank you for being the same (and getting even better) after all these years.
Our server, who grew up in St Helena and joined Spruce 4-months ago, was an absolute delight and made the evening.
the food was superb, the service was on top of this world-it was perfect for a birthday dinner for my gal.
I was quickly seated when I arrived for an appointment. Staff was attentive. Everything made was delicious. Great atmosphere.
I love it but they need some noise abatement . There was a very loud group and it was so much better after they left.
At the recommendation of my daughter, who had been to Spruce prior, we decided to drop in last Monday evening. I was delightfully impressed with the entire evening. Our waiter, Nick, was not only very cordial and friendly, but extremely knowledgeable and well spoken. The dishes were all excellent and represented a very thoughtful and unique presentation. The duck was quite simply the best I’ve ever had. We will be back!
Everything was fantastic!
Had a wonderful time at Spruce. We were treated like VIPs. The food was excellent. I ordered a drink that I ended up not liking. They replaced the drink and took it off our tab. Service was amazing. Very impressive wine list!
Love this restaurant. Destination dining whenever I’m in the Bay Area!
