Storico Fresco Alimentari e Ristorante
We had a dream to bring traditional and nearly lost Italian dishes to Atlanta. The result: Storico Fresco Alimentari, quite simply an Italian grocery store and restaurant in one. We’ve gone beyond and created a true Italian experience for you to enjoy. We use locally sourced ingredients to craft our authentic dishes.
Delicious food and outstanding service. Overall good experience although it was very noisy.
Storico Fresco is one of my favorite spots for authentic Italian food in Atlanta! Evenings are more crowded and energetic, while it makes a great lunch spot for more casual meetings or for groups.
When we arrived the restaurant was full. The person at the front put us on a list and said that there will be a waiting time of 40 minutes. We then made a reservation on our phone through opentable and miraculously there were tables available in 5 minutes. I saw people waiting that got tired and left. The place is too noisy and the tables are too close one to the other. The pastas are very good but the portions are very small for the prices they charge. The selection of Italian products for sale on display were very limited. The only reason that this place is full is because there are many hotels around.
If you love Italian food Storico Fresco is one of the best Italian spots in Atlanta. The Bolognese is amazing!
As always, had a great meal and excellent service as well as a 1/2 price bottle of wine!! Whoop!! I had not tried the Salmon until Monday night and it was PERFECTION. Always love my
Time at Storico!
Food is amazing! A lovely little place it’s just loud, but very worth it!
Service was slow and the portions were small
Our daughter was home from college, the family was spending the day together in the city. We all love Italian and wanted to try someplace we had not been. The service was very slow. The portion sizes were below par—especially for Italian food. We had to shout to be heard and thus, so did everyone around us. We left very disappointed.
Excellent service and excellent food. Being from out of town and not familiar with downtown Atlanta it was hard to find.
Off the chain LOUD. We were seated inside right at end of bar area. The crowd came in encroached on us. Not a good experience.
The food was some of the best Italian in Atlanta; pasta al dente, fish fresh and perfectly cooked. Our server seemed like she was having an off night, but she did bring dessert on the house to make up for it. The dining area is a bit cramped and super loud, but otherwise, nice experience and will go back for more pasta.
We had a lovely meal. It was a little loud and clear our ticket got lost but our server made it for it. Pasta was fresh and it had a good feel. I would recommend
Birthday for family member
We really enjoyed the atmosphere, though it was a bit loud. The food was great- full of flavor and good portion size. Will definitely return. (Parking is a pain)
Service was very slow. Waiter not too friendly. Good game in waves and it brought together so some people are and othersxwsited.
Food and wine was great, the service wasn't so great. I think our server came over a total of 3 times during the whole night.
I used to live in Italy and I love Italian food. I thought Storico Fresco would be a good option for my birthday. I went there with my friends from work. We work in Buckhead so it was a great option after work. The food was good but apparently, this restaurant does not allow for people to pay for their own meal. Are we living in the 21st century? How is that possible? Seven people in the same table and the restaurant cannot handle seven different amounts of $. We wrote on paper how much to charge in each credit card but they did totally wrong, some people paid $12 for their meal and some had to pay $82. The manager was terribly rude and unhelpful. I will NEVER go back to this place. And neither any of the other guests. I guess they don't care about customer service!
Been dying to try this place after rave review from our friends. It did not disappoint! The Bolognese sauce and pasta was DREAMY. The clams with linguine was good, but without the small kick from the red pepper flakes it would have been pretty bland. The variety of items available to purchase and prepare at home is also incredible. We will be back!!!
Bread – six thin slices served with some of the best olive oil I have ever tasted. The oil added a great peppery ending to each dip. I liked the bread. My issue is that the restaurant decided to use the European approach and only offer one plate, with additional plates available for a fee.
I ordered the Polpette for my appetizer, Berkshire pork meatballs with mozzarella and Pomodoro sauce ($14) – Three dense meatballs covered in sauce with a slice of melted mozzarella on top. Served in a bowl. The presentation is a little cumbersome to eat. The meatballs were dense, a little too dense for my taste, and I was not a big fan of their texture. The sauce was outstanding, just a great Marinara sauce. And they give you a lot of sauce. The slice of cheese on top was a good addition but having it as a melted slice versus shredded was difficult to maneuver. I give the meatballs a 5, the presentation a 3 and the sauce a 9.
Cavatelli al Ragu di Cinghiale – handmade cavatelli, wild boar ragu, grana Padano ($26). The size of the dish is neither an appetizer nor entrée sized portion, somewhere in between. It was fine for me since I did not want an enormous plate. The cavatelli was perfectly prepared to al dente and covered in a good amount of the ragu. The flavors were rich and dense and the sprinkling of the cheese on top gave just a hint of saltiness. Overall it was a great dish, albeit a little expensive for the size. I give this dish an 9.
Service – spot on for the entire evening.
I will literally recommend this place to ANYONE!!!! The food was amazing. Service, OUTSTANDING!!!!! We had to wait a bit for our food and appetizers but our waitress, Rian, made it all worth while and she comped our drinks! I’m Italian but I feel like I’m TRULY an Italian now. The pasta is freshly made in house and it shows. I will absolutely be going back soon and by soon I mean probably tomorrow.
Tables too close together, could hear neighboring conversations. Food was great.
The low down -- the food was good, the ambiance okay, and the service was poor.
I had pesto linguine with shrimp. It was nutty and unique. The salad was quite delicious with the inclusion of Roman pearl onions (marinated and carmelized) -- it's something I would enjoy eating again. The cheese board was underwhelming -- skimpy. My wife enjoyed her mixed green salad and beet pasta dish. She really liked her dessert.
The bar service wss commendable and speedy. My Classic Rye Manhattan was drier than any other, but I enjoyed it. My wife approved of the Pinot Grigio. The table service however, was poor. The main server wasn't too friendly and we had to remind her and others that they had not brought items that we were told were right on the way. In short, the slow, uninspired, and somewhat oblivous service came up rather short of what one would expect in a restaurant of this reputation and cost.
The space is advertised as being "minimal" and some such environments I have been in tune with. However, I didn't find this space to be at all endearing or comfortable. It was quite crowded mostly with 30-somethings who appeared to be quite engaged in conversation and in what might be consider a hip place. I had no trouble with this, but it is so terribly noisy (likely due to its architectural materials) that it is hard to have a conversation without having to strain and shout.
In sum Storico Fresco is overrated and disappointing. Given the huge number of great restaurants in Atlanta, there was nothing particularly pleasant, outstanding, or memorable about the experience there to wish for a return. The sum of $175 spent could have bought a superior dining experience elsewhere or have paid for five visits to a favorite Mexican restaurant or three or four visit to a number of very good Indian restaurants. Some might say this is comparing apples to oranges but in this case the oranges really are much better!
Some of the best Italian food in the city along with a great wine list! The jam packed ambiance makes it even better. Noise level is louder but adds to the experience. Love this place!
The food at Storico Fresco is amazing, but we had terrible service. Our waiter checked on us maybe two times the entire meal, was extremely rude, rushed us to order and after multiple requests for water and bread from multiple employees we still did not receive any. The service was slow as well. If you want to try their food, you can buy it and take it home, which I would recommend. Too expensive to pay for the terrible service.
Very bad service during Friday lunch. Not enough wait staff including bad attention. Won’t go back for lunch
Storico fresco is simply fantastic! From the authentic Italian food to the staff working like a Swiss watch it is one of the best dining experiences in town.
Was there for Valentine’s Day and it was a little too crowded. Had tables stacked on each there and waiters had no idea which table was which. Food was great though! Would go again.
Great restaurant, great food. Yes it's not the most quiet restaurant, but it's a nice homey ambience. Like a family eating together and talking amongst each other. Not loud to the point you are hurting your vocal cords. Now, the food: woah! The entree Fritto Misto di Mare was to die for. I admit the Arancini (risotto balls) where a let down, but still very nice. The best part I think was the pasta and the vegetables, pleaseee get a plate of vegetables (brussel sprouts and cauliflower where perfect!). <-- I am a mushroom person and the mushrooms where ok, not wow. Just ok. I originally wanted to eat Linguine al Pesto e Gamberi, but the waitress seemed very excited about every plate but that one so I changed my mind.. very disappointed that she didn't hint it was good that's what made me doubt if that plate was good enough. We instead had Tagliatelle a la Bolognese which blew mi mind!, also Cavatelli a la Ragu di Cinghiale which has an amazing strong taste so good!, finally we ordered Salmone.. so fresh and tasty, except for the lentils they just didn't fit with the amazing Salmon. This may sounds like a not so good review, but the food has me dreaming about it in spite little details here and there. To finish the night we had dessert: Affogato.. if I could I would eat this every day, it's a must! To complete this review we had the PERFECT wine, a very smooth and delicate red wine: Nero d'Avola. <-I also heard great reviews of the Cacio e Pepe plate and the Bucatini alle Vongole from friends. The service was impecable, very attentive! It's a must go.
Good food, good atmosphere even though it was extremely loud. I understand being busy on Valentine's Day, but it seems the table next to us was getting the bread we ordered every time, and I believe they got the food for the people that were two tables over. We had to ask for water several times, bread several times (we finally got it when we finished our main courses), and it was extremely hard to talk to anyone, let alone each other. We will try again on a night that isn't so busy, the Tagliatelle Bolognese was the best we've ever had, the Bucatini was ok, could've used a little cheese, maybe slightly more lemon, but was good.
Amazing food, great embiance, and attentive service!
The cheese board is underwhelming but everything else was delicious!
Great apps and wine selection. Our waitress was very helpful as well
I think this place has peaked and is no longer of interest to us. The menu never changes, service is slow, but the worst thing is the noise level. We had to shout at each other and we were right next to each other! It is by far the loudest restaurant in Atlanta.
Excellent, everything! We will come back
Excellent Italian food served in an Italian grocery in Buckhead. Our favorite was the pesto linguine with shrimp. And be sure to have an afogato for dessert. The room is fairly crowded and noisy. For extra space request one of the tables in the kitchen areas or, for a quieter space, request a table on the heated patio.
Delicious pasta and desserts. Really fun vibes. Definitely need a reservation.
Honestly, I came here because Heather McMahan raves about it all the time and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. I did something different and planned a date for my husband and I vs. the other way around and my husband absolutely loved it. 10/10 recommend.
Wonderful location for our daughter's birthday celebration. Would highly recommend!
