The restaurant was quieter than expected; likely because it was the 4th and the restaurant is not immediately downtown where the fireworks and honky tonk crowds were congregating. The service was slow, especially disappointed considering the restaurant was 3/4 full. We’ve eaten at the Sunda in Chicago multiple times and it was excellent, a 5-star experience all around. The food was great at this location. All of it, but the service definitely held back this review. It’s one thing to have empty drinks and dirty plates sitting around you long enough n a crowded scene, but there were other staff besides our waitress that could have done a better job keeping our table clean and drinks filled. In a restaurant that serves group dishes, table management is important and too much was put on our waitress that disappeared for long stretches. It just appeared that she had too much to manage. She was professional, we didn’t think it was her fault, more management and staff allocation/responsibilities. They probably could have sold us another $100 of drinks if managed better. The sushi was excellent, as well as all the starters. Cauliflower was one of the best I’ve had and the Brussels sprouts were the best we ate in Nashville and we had ordered it at two other 5-star restaurants in the two previous evenings. Steamed buns are awesome, so is the coconut cheesesteak. Generally, food was excellent and the place probably has a better vibe on a more crowded night with more staff. To the management team: busboys and other staff walked by our table all night without clearing and offering to refill waters, etc. there wasn’t even eye contact and we had to go out of our way to alert people. We also sat 10 minutes before we asked someone to assign staff to our table. I didn’t see a manager once all night. I think our less than 5-star experience at a place with 5-star food is on you.

We had an absolutely awful experience here for dinner. The food is wildly overpriced and frankly, not that good. Once we finally had our order taken, all of our food came out within 2 minutes and well before our drinks. We never saw the server again until we had to ask someone to find them to bring us our check. We will not be back and will not recommend anyone come here.

Our waitress was very nice but the bartender/waiter who served us our drinks dampened our experience. When he approached to serve our drinks, he announced the names of our drinks, and after we confirmed it was for our table, he paused and stared at us, so I thought he was waiting for us to take our drinks from his tray. I reached to take my drink and he looked at me sternly and very flatly said, “Don’t do that.” It was truly a misunderstanding so I apologize profusely. I recognize that taking my drink would have potentially toppled his tray, but I would have appreciated if he corrected me more nicely with just a hint of good customer service. I was there hosting my parents as they were visiting from out of state, so they witnessed the entire situation and the rest of our brunch was awkwardly quiet. Before the encounter, we were in such high spirits. Everything else was great but I hate that an uncalled-for experience with the bartender and/or waiter redirected our focus from the food and our main waitresses’ hospitality.

The food was just too too salty. But maybe that’s their style. We order garlic noodles as one of the dishes and were barely able to eat it as was too salty. Everything else including the ambience and the service was top notch.

The A/C was broken so a little warm inside. Server wasn't really clear about the portion sizes and put in an order for the corn when we were just asking about it but that could have been our partially our fault or a communication glitched.

Our waitress was very nice, but they forgot one of our food orders, and by the time my plate arrived, my husband’s food was cold. Also, one of the appetizers (the corn) was basically mush - tasted like soup because it was full of water from cooking. For as much as our meal cost, I hoped for a table that doesn’t wobble and better quality food.

Second time at Sunda and it re-affirmed how much I liked it the first time. Their apps are just as delicious as the entrees. Crispy Brussel Sprouts are my absolute favorite.

This was by far one of the best dining experiences I have had in years. My server Kevin was knowledgable and kind. The head chef Mike came out and said hi. The food was OUTSTANDING!!!!! Best restaurant in Nashville hands down.

Our experience would have been so much better had the air conditioner worked. It was so hot inside the restaurant that it took away from the enjoyment of our meal. Our server was very accommodating and did a good job despite the discomfort.

We had great service and fantastic food at Sunda. They were able to easily accommodate a food allergy, and the server made great suggestions for us for our first time there. The Hamachi Tartare was amazing and so were the sushi rolls we ordered. Would definitely go back again.

Food and service were awesome. We raved on each item we ordered. We order small plates and therefore get to sample many items offered. That is truly the way to go here.. Rachel our server was wonderful on explaining what each selection had. It was our second time here and we will go back.

We were making a long cross country drive from Louisiana to New York and planned to make special stop in Nashville to have dinner at Sunda. We were provided exceptional service by Cynthia and the food was amazing! The Nashville location is reminiscent of the original Chicago Sunda, but has a more open brighter atmosphere and love the trendy Gulch location. We enjoyed each dish ordered and the Sunda Sundae was perfect dessert to end our meal before getting back on the road.

We did go early right after they opened. Our waiter was very attentive the food was amazing. He recommended some cocktails and dishes. We enjoyed everything we had. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone! We will be back.

It was pretty good, the food was on time the drink came to the table really quick but the server was not that fast and it wasn’t that busy we wait like 10 minutes until we got the check cuz the server was around but not passing for our table, it was good just the service can be better, I work as a server so I feel free to say that can be better. But good experience!
