Far cry from the tokyo original.
The food and service was amazing! I have not had an experience like that before. I now have a whole new perspective on the art of sushi.
The service is fantastic
It was a wonderful experience. The food was phenomenal! Service was also extremely wonderful. Will go back if the chance come up.
Can’t complain and the service and the ambiance of the restaurant.
fish are extremely fresh, however the rice are way to lose, the snow crab fall apart when I picked it. The “fresh wasabi” aren’t so fresh, it was pre-grind.
I don’t understand how sushi Onodera got its 2 Michelin stars, it’s just rookie mistakes.
excellent. I enjoyed the sushi and it was treat to watch his preparation . My neighbor in the set to my right was a fun woman of Japanese decent who takes train from Wall Street - often. Fish is very fresh. Rice could have warmer.
Amazing! Must go to spot for sushi fans
$100 was pretty good value. Tip is included in price.
The best. Love it here every visit.
Absolutely loved this place. Quite expensive, but worth it. Spectacular food, really great service, charming atmosphere, highly recommend.
Food is decent but pricy. Would recommend to a friend but with one suggestion -- eat a burger before you go so you don't feel hungry during the waiting time and then you can enjoy the sushi rather than eating it like a 10$ sushi.
Best Omakase experience, fresh and always changing ingredients perfectly prepared. A real foodie place. I’ll be back as often as I can.
Not special for the price. Average to slightly above sushi
The best of the best!!!!
food tasted great and service was amazing
would definitely go back when I visit nyc!
Absolutely the best sushi I have eaten.
Rice was terrible, fell apart even when eaten quickly.
Hostess was extremely rude when I asked them to accommodate a third guest. Acted as if I were being unreasonable. It’s unlikely I’ll ever eat here again.
The overall experience was fantastic. The lunch menu features delicious food with remarkable service. Was greatly impressed by the service and how our chef delivered our food.
Best japanise food and most friendly chefs in NYC!
Amazing omakase experience - excellent appetizer, fresh seafood, and good variety of sashimi pieces. Service was superb and ambiance was authentic.
The best Japanese restaurant in NYC hands down. Better than Sushi Yasuda and Masa. The only downsides are that you will spend over $1k for dinner for two with Sake and half that for lunch, and if you go back, there is not much variety - it will be the same as you had before. I didn’t mind since I loved it but I can see it get a bit boring after a few visits.
I have eaten at 5-7 Michelin* sushi restaurants this year in NYC, Singapore, London, and Kuala Lumpur. Each has its best attributes and some that are middle of the road.
Sushi Ginza Onodera is at or near the top of the list in terms of fish portions (large, super fresh slices on nigiri), fish freshness, and overall flavor. The uni was perfect, the toro was silky, the barracuda and hamachi were memorable. The chef was engaging and friendly, ultimately offering some items not included in the omakase itself.
I’ll definitely go again, and lunch omakase is a better deal.
We enjoyed our extraordinary dinner experience totally. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone you enjoys fine dining.
Overpriced, terrible wine list. Food great - but you can pay much less for same quality. Kinda bad service. Won’t go back
The most incredible food experience of my life! Sushi at Ginza on 5th Avenue is superb and I hope I get to experience it again one day. Thank you to the wonderful chefs and waiting on staff.
The experience was great!! Sushi was good! Ambiance and theme was appropriate for lunch.
I usually don’t write reviews, but felt compelled to write about this one. This is a complete waste of money. I have been to most Omakase counters on NYC and several in Toyko. This was one of the most expensive ones and one of the worst. The initial appetizers were consistently too sweet and the fish was definitely not of the highest quality. Also an overpriced sake menu. I do not see this established lasting in NYC.
Enjoyed great Omakase Sushi course for lunch. Worth trying.
Amazing fish quality and very kind Service. We had a great lunch menu there. Really awesome place at 5th avenue in NYC..............................Amazing fish quality and very kind Service. We had a great lunch menu there. Really awesome place at 5th avenue in NYC..............................
Perfect Japenese Fine Dinning in 5th ave NY city.
You can feel like in Japen but with NY Library view.
It is a interesting experience.
Thank the perfect sushi for the Sushi Master Kazunori Hattori and all the staff of Onodera.
It is a great birthday lunch with friend! Great service with excellent food! Definitely come back!
Amazing, best food ever. Perfect for anniversary.
Best sushi I've ever had in my life. Hefty price tag, but it felt worth it. We had a wonderful evening and would return back next time we're in NYC.
The best and only real edomae omakase course in the city. The closest to being in Tokyo without getting on a plane. Hirohito-san is number one!
Cole, our designated sushi chef was absolutely fantastic!!!!!!!! Not only was he attentive and clearly well trained. But he was a good human - he literally walked with us out the door and kept waving us goodbye until we turned the corner. You just don’t see that everyday.
Everything was perfect here! All of the food are fresh and delicious. Will definitely come again and again.
I'll just say it was quite an amazing foodie experience. Fun seeing everything made at the counter, and the chefs were friendly and fun. The food was nothing short of sensational.
Soooo good. Amazing service. Fresh fish and tasty pairings of flavors. Impeccable and zen décor.
Didn’t mind spending a lot for lunch time. So far it is the best omakase sushi place for me. Chef Hiro entertained me well and taught me a lot about the sushi he was serving. No wonder why it has 2 stars. They deserve it. Service was also excellent!
