Hattori-san was amazing. We really enjoyed our omakase!
Great ! Super good service
Great experience for lunch omakase. I'd recommend and might also come back!
Omakase was great experience. Fish was top shelf. Service was impeccable.
Loved it! Yes
Best sushi in NYC! Tips are included and price for lunch is reasonable.
Pricey but amazing food and service. took some colleagues who could not believe how good everything was. Definitely an experience if you like sushi
Staff all wonderful. Lunch omakase $150 pp. Sake carafe $100. Beautiful room. We didn’t love all the sushi. Totally subjective view.
For this price point you would imagine they would serve tea?! But no I was charged $25 for the 5 teas that we had. It’s pretty ridiculous. Don’t think I’ll come back.
Had a great experience with Hiro! The food was delicious and he was super friendly and funny! I ate fish I didn't even know existed, and everything was cooked so well! Incredibly attentive staff!
Excellent. Great attention to detail, wonderful service, exceptional food. Looking forward to going again.
Food was good but nothing amazed us. The fish was great quality. Service was perfect. Low rating on the ambience becuase the night we ate there it was freezing in the restaurant. I had to sit on my hands to keep them warm. They had a small space heater there but it barley helped. This was the biggest deal for me. For a $1000 meal...it just didn’t do it for me and we left very disappointed.
Sushi was amazing!
Beyond amazing. Can't recommend enough. Food, service, wine pairing. All were outstanding.
They served cheap and not fresh material.
Good for new rich tourists.
Amazing Food! Definitely affordable for lunch tasting menu. Looking forward to dry the dinner menu. Thank you to our sushi chef , he was very nice, entertaining and very happy.
Good value for lunch. The service was outstanding even it is non-tipping restaurant. All the staff were friendly and they showed us the photos of the fish we ate.
This was my girlfriend and I’s first experience with Omakase, and let me say, we both agreed it was great. What really stood out to us was the service. They took our coats, they made sure our cups were always full, they showed us pictures and information about the fish we were eating, the chef was very nice and approachable, and they even helped put our coats back on before we left.
The dishes were also amazing. It was, no doubt, the best fish and rice I’ve ever had. The flavors were complex and succulent. Everything was of anazing quality.
This was my first time experiencing this, so I may not be the best reference, but I have to say they made a great first impression.
Good for a complete a sushi lunch, dinner is too expensive. Pure traditional Ginza Sushi, do not expect any creativity or surprise. Quite boring for me.
Best dining experience I have ever had in America
It was a fantastic experience.
Especially, Japanese white shrimp sushi tasted incredible.
The price looks expensive, but it's worth it enough.
They were kind.
If I visit New York again, I want to try the dinner course.
The best sushi in New York
Amazing omakase experience from start to finish. Brilliant food, great service and memorable experience being served directly by the chef at the counter table. A highlight of our New York trip -- remarkable and unforgettable.
Brought a friend just back from visiting Tokyo and he said the food was even better here. Sumptuous, delightful, an experience worth having time and time again.
I understand that this restaurant has 2 Michelin stars yet I feel like $800.00 plus price for a dinner for 2 is a little steep. I'm a fan of "authentic" Japanese food and thought that this is what I was going to get. Instead the food feels a little too "precious" and I'm not one to need gold leaf on my food. The service is good. The decor is nice. The entrance off 5th Avenue feels odd. I was hoping for something more intimate.
Unbelievable food & beautiful atmosphere
Sushi Ginza Onodera is worthy of its Michelin rating. Took my wife here for a birthday lunch and had an enjoyable experience. The Michelin rating says enough about the quality and taste of the sushi here so I don't think further explanation is needed. Diners should be happy to know Sushi Ginza Onodera provides an elegant ambiance, friendly and respectful service, and staff knowledgeable in the types of fish (they will even show you the type of fish via tablet). Diners should know this is a non-tipping restaurant and the menu is omakase only. Staff were happy to accommodate reasonable requests if there were any fish we did not desire (it was mackerel for us) and substitute it with another type. It appears that reservations are on a time block system (I know for lunch at least). ie., lunch reservation slots were 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm with nothing in between. So make sure to make reservations in advance in order to ensure you get the slot you want. The wife and I will definitely be back. Thank you Sushi Ginza Onodera for the pleasant experience.
Make sure you don’t attempt to use open table dining points! Despite the fact that open table and the restaurant claims to accept open tables dining points reward, the restaurant does not in fact accept them and does not bother to inform the diner of this prior to being seated (why turn away business right?). That being said, despite this misunderstanding l, the restaurant is completely fine food was excellent but for $140 for lunch it better be! While it is definitely good food, the restaurant had no vibe for lunch and had the feel of a classic midtown restaurant designed for tourists (not exactly a brief trip to Japan as some reviews would suggest). While I love sushi and especially enjoy omakase I would highly recommend passing on Ginza Onadera and would recommend trying Ichimura, Nakazawa and Masa which are all in a league above Onadera and having been to japan this didn’t compare.
The food is exceptional. The chef always tells jokes & the overall experience is very delightful.
We have been here before and while expensive the quality and presentation are extraordinary. With high expectations we were not disappointed. Friendly sushi chef, and amazing food. If you can afford it, I highly recommend. Went to the home location in Tokyo in Sept which was great, but last night's dinner in NYC was better!
Way way overpriced! Seems like a tourist trap. Rice was great though, fish was below average. Chefs were all very nice and engaging.
Sushi done to a "T". A beautiful presentation, and a wonderful meal.
Best omakase in NYC!! Great service by chef. Everyone is nice and friendly. Fresh ingredients from Japan.
Delicious, complex and varied flavors that were incredibly dense and complex. Hospitality was warm and energetic. Great night out.
way over priced and food wasnt the best, our bill came out to $663.14 paid them $663.00 since i didnt have change and they say they dont accept tip, they came back to my table asking me for .14 cent, ridiculous, we speend over $600 for them to come and ask for .14 cent
Overall sushi quality was very good but not exceptional. The sushi counter was wide and made it hard to hear the chef. We sat next to two businessmen who rushed through their lunch in 45 minutes. The same chef was also preparing our sushi. The entire meal’s rhythm and pace were rushed for us too. It was overall an underwhelming experience. The restaurant seemed more like a casual business lunch place than an intimate omakase place, at least for lunch.
from the moment I checked in to walking out I have to say it was a great experience the service was amazing by far. presentation on the plates were very nice. great for any date and to try great fresh food. quality of the fish was top notch. my favorite was the tuna meatball by far. there was probably only one thing that I didn't not really care for much but other than that I can not complain. for sure a place to hit up for great omasake style. it is pretty pricy but I have to say it was worth every penny. one of the things I also enjoyed was for every plate they served you they had an I pad to describe what kind of fish was included and where it was from. the chefs also were great I like the set up you and maybe another group have your own chef who prepares each plate infront of you.
very good experience. The environment and food are excellent!
Each course of this exceptional Omakase was outstanding in flavor, texture and presentation. Don't expect any distracting bells and whistles, this is a traditional Edomae experience, with every piece of sushi perfected to bring out the utmost in fish and rice.
