Great food, happy staff and lovely place. Good for occasions or a casual lunch / dinner
We are so lucky to have this as our local sushi restaurant! It’s great and so delicious! And always a great experience as the staff look after us every time! Thank you Murasaki!
One the best sushi places in the city! Friendly staff, amazing food!
Lovely local, great welcome, service & food. Will return soon.
Very high quality sushi and excellent service.
Very good fish quality! Attention is also very good, and the environment is nice. Will definitely repeat.
Love Murasaki and the food is excellent and consistent
Went there for Valentine’s Day and it was the perfect restaurant for the occasion. The food was delicious, the ambiance refined and not noisy while the staff was always ready to help with a wide smile. I highly recommend the restaurant.
We love japanese food and this was our 3rd time here. The food is exceptional. The sushi is of the highest quality compared with other japanese restaurants. Yes, it’s slightly more expensive than some restaurants but it’s worth paying the difference for their premium product. Also, all waitresses are very professional and you feel very well served.
We go to Sushi Murasaki for special ocasions and always have a great experience! And we found it searching online and checking comments and feedbacks from other people. So, we hope to inspire others!
Great food as always and lovely staff. Definitely going back.
Amazing food, great service, lovely ambience - our favourite Japanese restaurant!
For me it just doesn’t get any better than this place. Sushi heaven. Every time. Thank you for yet another superb meal.
Amazing service with a smile
As ever, everything was delicious and very fresh. Love this restaurant!
Sunday lunch at Sushi Murasaki — which we had only recently discovered through OpenTable — was a spur of the moment decision, so there wasn't a table available until 2pm. And even though it was a cold, grey day, when we got there, a few hardy souls were eating in the pavement section which was protected by canvas and surprisingly well heated.
The restaurant was packed, with the clientele including several Japanese families — which is always a good sign.
The Sunday menu is more extensive and included specialties such as sea urchin sushi (£7 a piece) and prawn tempura.
We opted for two generous rounds of mackrel, tuna, yellow tail and squid nigiri and cut rolls, which were all delicious. The seafood was all faultlessly fresh and cut into generous slices. The stand-out was the squid which was soft and succulent and had a lovely citrus zing. A side of grilled asparagus with a flavoursome sesame sauce was the perfect accompaniment.
It was impossible to resist the prawn tempura (it was described as shrimp, but consisted of five, I think, large prawns), and we managed to share a chicken teriyaki and rice to round off the meal.
With the addition of a crisp Gavi, bottle of sparkling water and service, the bill was £150 for two — it's not cheap, but you really do get what you pay for. We will certainly be back.
Food was great - especially black cod - as was the service. It was quite noisy in the restaurant, but it was a pleasant evening.
The minute we stepped into the restaurant the omens were good. There was a table of young, Japanese mums at the window to our right, and to our left an elderly Japanese couple engrossed in their Udon and sushi. All the staff also appeared to be Japanese.
We started with a selection of nigiri — mackerel, tuna and seabass, a yellowtail cut roll and some endamame on the side. The fish was all fabulously fresh, and quantities waere generous. The rice also seemed lighter, and lightly less glutinous than it can be. The restaurant website says the rice is specially imported 'so that you'll taste a noticeable difference' — which sounds a little over the top, but seriously, you do. We eat a lot of sushi, in both budget and high end restaurants, and this was stand-out stuff.
Not surprisingly, we couldn't resist ordering more – this time yellowtail, scallop and nigiri and tuna cut roll. Once again, all were divine.
Given the amount of sushi we had scoffed, we shared a chicken teriyaki and side of rice to finish. The chicken was succulent and full of flavour, with a beautifully balanced sticky sauce and a garnish of grilled vegetables. Perfection on a plate.
With sparkling water and a bottle of good white, followed by a couple of extra glasses, plus service, the bill was around £140 — not a budget lunch, but worth every penny. There were also much less expensive lunch options which meant you could easily spend less.
A couple of days earlier, we had spent a similar amount on a meal in central London (both were special occasions) and had left feeling underwhelmed. We left Murasaki thinking we would definitely return when the weather is better and try the pavement terrace at the front of the restaurant.
An excellent OpenTable find
Great food and great local place to have a good sushi experience.
Friendly place with top quality fish. Loved the yellow tail carpoacio and chefs sashimi platter
A classy low-key place. Great food, great service - what’s not to like?
Very good food in a pleasant ambience.
This restaurant is a little gem in Maida Vale. Food is super fresh and delicious. Great staff and atmosphere. We'll be back for sure.
This is one of the best experiences my guest had. 2 of our guests were new to sushi and i asked the host to serve us with their best ideas to introduce this couple to Sushi.
They have done such an amazing job!
We had a great experience and every single person mentioned they are gonna not only come back but also being friends and family. I think that says it all!
A lovely neighbourhood Japanese restaurant with fabulous fresh sushi and nigiri. They have a good variety of classic Japanese food as well as more modern dishes- the asparagus with sesame dressing and the seaweed salad were particularly fresh and tasty. The yakitori chicken was sweet and with a small kick of chilli and the salmon teriyaki was full of flavour. Service was warm and attentive and they were particularly kind to my three year old boy.
Everything was great ! highly recommended Japanese restaurant in London.
Great food and welcoming staff.
Perfect Sushi Restaurant in Maida Vale. Top quality and service. Worth the drive !
We have had an amazing dinner at Murasaki. Food, Service and also Ambience was great. We are coming back!
A great local sushi place.
Very good food and great service a bit busy for a date night.
Really tasty and cozy
Operated mostly by Japanese, that means food, service and everything is provided with Japanese quality but price level is not something we can afford for weekly visit.
Food is perfect, service superb. It’s not a cheap meal, but worth it.
Amazing sushi! One of the best in London. Stylish interior, very attentive service. Not cheap but well worth it
Authentic SUSHI by professional Japanese team. Wanna go back again. Highly recommended
I treat myself to a Sushi Murasaki experience each time I'm in London. The food is excellent, and the chefs and service staff are the friendliest (a rarity for London!). It feels like an experience because there are only a number of few seats (and even fewer outside seating), which makes it all the more special! I might even go back tomorrow - teehee!
Best authentic Japanese in London
Cosy restaurant with friendly staff, fresh food is absolutely perfect for dinner with family or small group of friends.
Excellent local sushi. Very authentic, nigiri was better than the rolls, rolls where slightly in the large size, so difficult to eat.
Tuna was fantastic, as where all the salads and sauces
