we sat outside and there were guest who were other diners smoking weed right next to us, the waiter kept coming to the table, i understand hospitality but my friend and i felt like rushed
Delicious food nice ambiance. A little bit expensive but well worth it
Always amazing food and service. We go every time we hit the city
Due to COVID restrictions we had to order everything at once versus appetizers and then order our mains. Ingredients weren’t listed and one of our guests came into contact with peanuts which ended their evening. Make sure you ask about allergies prior to ordering. Ate at downtown TAO last time we visited and it seemed better. The food was ok and the ambience is exceptional.
We had a great time and enjoyed our meals. The drinks were absolutely amazing!!
Tao never disappoints for food but the service had a lot more to be desired - had booked a a very special bday celebration and despite calling and reconfirming our 8.30 pm slot and arriving early at 8.15- we only got seated at 9.05. The waiter forgot to put any flatware or napkins on our table and we had to ask for everything - they even managed to remove our whisky glass which was full and then brought a fresh one when we pointed it out.
However on special request they did a fabulous hob of making an extra special dessert for the bday girl in the shape of a large fortune cookie which ended the evening on a lovely note.
Just wish your service could be better ...
Came here for anniversary dinner with my girlfriend. Really a great experience. Food was amazing, atmosphere is so cool, had an awesome time.
It was amazing
Fantastic experience, our waiter was so lovely! Food service was fast and efficient and drinks were so good!
A great place to celebrate life ! Great service.yummy food and amazing atmosphere
Tao was definitely better than I remember. They changed some menu items & everything I had was amazing. The Sweet & Spicy Shrimp, Orange Chicken & Dessert Platter were highlights of the night. Service was awesome as well.
The manager Leigh was phenomenal. We had a little issue that she went above and beyond to help clear up for my wife and I.
TAO Uptown New York had some of the freshest, most tasting food we have had a very long time. Nice size servings, the martini's were excellent, service was superb and professional and the setting was fabulous.
Mother’s Day Was The Occasion, Took My Mom Here And It Will Be The Last Time We Dine At Tao Uptown. The Waiter Wasn’t Very Friendly When My Mom Asked Simply And Politely What Was In The Egg Roll, His Response Was, I REALLY DONT KNOW CABBAGE AND SOME OTHER VEGETABLES DO YOU WANT THEM OR NOT ? He Brought Me Out A Warm Sapporo Beer, As I Grabbed It I Said It’s A Bit Warm Do You Have A Colder One, His Response Was: EVERY BEER WE HAVE COMES FROM THE SAME REFRIGERATOR DO YOU WANT TO ORDER A DRINK.
So I Forcefully Ordered A Drink Because I Didn’t Want To Argue The Point Of Maybe The Bar Back Or Bar Tender Recently Put The Sapporo In And It Hasn’t Chilled Yet.
I Had Ordered 2 Appetizers, 2 sushi Rolls, Which Some Kind Of String Was In My Spicy Tuna Roll, I Didn’t Complain I just Left It Alone, Pork Fried Rice And Orange Chicken, The Dinner Orders Were Never Submitted To The Kitchen, He Told Us They’ll Make it Now After We’ve Been Seated Close To 1 1/2 Hours, I Said No Thanks Well Take A Fortune Cookie Dessert And The Check.
Not The Best Experience, I Recall Having Great Times At Tao Uptown On Weekend Evenings Pre-Pandemic,
With Larger Crowds The Service Was A Lot Better I Don’t Know What Happen To This Place, But Tao Downtown Will Be The Go To From Now On.
Maverick was our waiter on Mother’s Day and I must say it was an incredible experience. Tao used to be one of my favorite restaurants before the pandemic and it’s been a long time since I’ve been back, it was actually my first time being back and I thought it was going to be crazy busy being that it was a holiday, on the contrary it was moderate and the service was literally immaculate he explains everything, gave us suggestions, had a charismatic personality, we were very thankful and pleased with the service and food!!!! Can’t wait to be back
Service from waitress was good but the kitchen sent the wrong order to the table three times. The decor was worn and old which is probably why they keep it so dark.
Amazing staff ...great food and drinks!!
TAO Uptown had us waiting for 1 hour and 30 minutes to sit. Other parties around the same size were getting seated before us as well. A positive is that they gave us a free round of drinks and free desert.
Great Mother’s Day Dinner with friends & family. Any time I’m visiting NYC this is my favorite place to be
Were seated at a long table for a date night we were far away so i moved to the side closer to my date the waitress said i couldn't bc of covid 6 feet EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO ONE AT THE OTHER TABLE. The whole place was basically empty. Waitress them proceeded to tell us within the first 8 minutes of getting seated we have a 90 minute limit for how long we can stay and was rushing us to order food. She then said if we didn't order food she'd move us and put us at the bar even though that food with drinks rule ended in NY. What kind of service is this? Made absolutely no sense. She was either taught horribly how to deal with customers and common sense and/or this restaurant is a joke.
We left after a drink. Don't go to this overpriced dump.
I LOVED IT 🙏🏽💜🧿
The sea bass is the best here!!! Is so soft and tasty it melts in your mouth!
Food and ambiance were great! Service was uneven...not as much attention paid to our table as expected, especially for a fine dining restaurant!
Food was good, but it's not THAT good. I had better food for way less money. You basically pay for the vibe, which is cool, but you can probably find way better food for that kind of money.
Food a bit overpriced but good quality and service
I was satisfied with my experience. I was not wowed by anything specifically based on the prices I was paying but I got what I paid for based on city prices. I will be back.
Hi Brian, I located the check from your dinner and the deposit was applied to your bill correctly. I have emailed you a copy of the check for your records. Thank you!
It was supposed to be a celebration for my son. Unfortunately, we were late bc of traffic. I called to notify the restaurant and was told no matter when I show up, my table is only reserved for 90 mins. Our dinner was rushed and were constantly reminded we need to vacate the table once 90 mins expires. There were plenty of tables available. I think it is very poor customer service, especially considering that I have explained many times we were driving from CT to celebrate my son's end of the year.
We used to come to Tao a lot, my son loves it. But now we both decided it is not worth it- I don't want to look at my watch when I go out to celebrate and be reminded to leave once 90 mins expires.
Sea bass! You have to try the sea bass. Everything we ate was beyond fresh (octopus, salmon, tempura). The bottles were pricey but that was expected.
Amazing service, food, drinks, & waitor ! 10/10 recommend and will be coming back for another dinner! New favorite dining spot
We were greeted, temps taken and asked for information for covid tracing then we were escorted to an upstairs table with a great view of the Buddha. Our server Jonathan S. Knew the menu and made fabulous suggestions. The food was tasty and presented nicely. The drinks were made perfectly. I really enjoyed my tao-tini! The Chilean sea bass was cooked perfectly. We had sushi and tuna tartare as well. Delish to say the least. I have to say the fortune cookie dessert was a big hit and not only Instagram worthy but tasted yummy! We will be back!!!
It was so nice, food was great and ambiance was very inviting.
It was really good the food was great .
We went for our anniversary and it was an amazing dining experience. The restaurant itself is gorgeous... and the food was superb. Staff were friendly and quick. Very special evening Definately coming back often
It was a very nice place for my friends and I. The waiter wasn’t that attentive and my food had to go back because it wasn’t fully cooked. However the drinks are good and it’s a very nice restaurant to have a nice intimate dining experience.
Lil sister bday i love the drinks food and ambiance
Fantastic food and customer service!
We had absolutely great evening .
I like current atmosphere better than the pre-Covid TAO.
It feels more upscale and the service is much better now.
If you wish to avoid the crowds, an early dinner at the second-floor mezzanine would be the best choice.
The food here was always delicious and it's no different now.
TAO provides an exquisite experience of Asian cuisine, the decor, ambiance, music, and a lot of small details make this restaurant very unique.
I was handed a dirty napkin and a dirty glass of wine, an unpleasant surprise given the fact the restaurant promotes hygiene, health, and safety measures.
I went there for my birthday and having heard so much hype about Tao over the years, I thought it would be a great idea to go there and especially for the food. The food was bland and very disappointing and the service was eh as well. I will not be returning ever again even just for a casual dine-in because it was just THAT disappointing.
