This is the perfect place for a romantic dinner when celebrating a special occasion. The staff provides outstanding unobtrusive service. The food is perfectly prepared and the presentation is excellent. The wine quality is excellent though the selection is somewhat limited. There is a full service bar serving a wide range of well prepared cocktails. It is located in the theater district so it’s perfect for a pre show meal.
Every time I’m in town I go here.
The staff was knowledgeable, polite, and very timely. The food was excellent, including what I believe to be the best veal I've ever eaten. I would certainly return for another meal. Great spot for a date, as well.
Food was excellent as was the service. The scallops in particular were extraordinary. Would definitely go back for another pre-theatre dinner.
We have been there over a dozen times in the last 2 years...I can't say enough! Let's start with Ian, dining manager superb and end with Becca, bar server extrodinaire! In between, exquisite entrees and apps...need I say more!
Very disappointed here. Wife and I both had over seasoned meals. We did not enjoy how loud it was, how overpriced it was nor any of the food. We would never recommend or go back. Veal was so salty I could barely eat.
Excellent Sunday brunch. Classic mimosa and eggs Benedict- delicious! Waffles and fried chicken amazing!! Especially loved our attentive waitress Lily! Will definitely return!
This was an awesome restaurant to go to pre-theater. Service was friendly and attentive from the moment we were greeted at the door.
Love this restaurant for pre BOH dining. Service and food excellent. Best mushroom soup I have ever had, and I very much appreciate the smaller plate options, as I am not a fan of large entree servings.
Food was fantastic. Dessert menu could have been better. Great place to eat before a show
Fantastic food. Highly recommend. The Arancini was amazing! It’s a must try.
Great service and excellent food. Gnocchi was as light as I’ve ever had and with summery, fresh flavors. Haven’t been in years but will definitely be going back soon. Very convenient before a show.
Food was excellent, service was beyond outstanding. Perfect spot to go before a show!
We ate at Teatro before seeing Miss Saigon at the Opera House. The menu wasn't extensive, but the pasta and meat dishes we chose were outstanding! The beet salad was microscopic, I'd suggest a different one. The wine and dessert were outstanding as well. Great dining!
This was my first time to Teatro and I don't know what took me so long! I think I mistakenly overlooked it because it's been around for a while, but the food is as exquisite as if it just arrived on the restaurant scene yesterday, there's nothing "dated" or tired about it at ALL, and it's much more than just a great place to eat before the opera or theater (although it's that too because of it's excellent proximity to the Opera House. We had the mussels which were to die for in a creamy, savory sauce, then the bolognese, which was perfect. My date had the ossu bucco which was so flavorful and divine, and I had the scallops, which were pillowy perfection. We will DEFINITELY be back!
More than worth the price. It was amazing food, service & quality. We had the lobster pasta dish & the Bolognese along with the Antipasto board. All of the choices were great & services was timely and attentive. Overall great experience, we will be back.
Booked pre-theater - far from alone, yup - pre- and post- might be the lifeblood of this place, but it's a tremendously easy place to enjoy at any time. Like all good italian spots; generous portions, excellent pasta (and they cook it just right), great ingredients, and solid wines and grappa. It's a narrow space, and gets boisterous when crowded, with mirrors on all walls. Will gladly get there again whenever the opportunity beckons.
We had an very nice meal at Teatro. Both the food and the service were good.
delicious food, cool inside and the service was possibly best in boston. smiles all around, there right when you need them but not too much, food & drinks were really great. definitely will be back, not the cheapest but you get what you pay for.
My wife and I have been going there for many years.
The food and service never disappoints.
Restaurant held our table as we ran into major traffic problem ( Gay Pride parade ). Could not have been more accommodating . Food was terrific ( chicken parm, scallops, pasta, salads) Service little slow ( crowded) but not a problem. Host was terrific. Very good experience. We will return
It was a terrific evening with good food and friends. The five of us all loved our salads, bread and delicious chickpea hummus and especially our entrees. The scallops were wonderful.
Teatro never disappoints!
Perfect place to have a lovely dinner before or after a show--our #1 choice!
We had a celebratory dinner here for our daughter's graduation. We are well traveled foodies and discerning customers. The dinner exceeded our expectations. The seasonal menu was innovative and inspiring. The seating was very comfortable, lighting perfect, interior- Euro chic. Too bad we don't have much of an excuse to get back to Boston anymore, this restaurant would have been one to return to with each visit.
Excellent experience. Highly recommend!
We love Teatro, have been semi-regulars for years and it's been great for a loooooong time... good food, good ambiance (better in off-season, when not full of noisy theater-goers) and excellent service. And I understand about rising costs, etc. but our last two times, I've been disappointed by notably higher prices and shrinking portions (ex. TINY asparagus "salad" of 6 pencil-thin spears with a tasty vinaigrette for $15... hmmm). Hope this doesn't become a trend as I want to continue enjoying Teatro for decades to come!
Looking for a new restaurant to try in Boston, we came across Teatro, which had been reviewed favorably and was in easy walking distance from our hotel. Teatro’s dining area is an elegant, old-world space. Our waiter was both professional and friendly. The pasta is homemade, and wonderful!. My dish, the eggplant, was exquisite. Good wine selection, too. I would recommend this restaurant highly.
We arrived early, were welcomed by the host and offered a spot near the bar where the bartenders took care of us promptly.
When we were seated the staff took great care in making sure we had a good understanding of the best dishes on the menu and keeping our glasses/drinks full.
The food was beat our expectations and we wrapped up with plenty of time to get to the theater.
Convenient location for theater shows and they are speedy with the service to get you in and out if you need that. It’s a small place and your fellow diners are close by. And it’s loud. But it’s good food and friendly staff.
Teatro seems to operate in a steady, low key way. Not on the hot list radar, but very appealing as a great neighborhood and pre-theatre spot. Our meal was terrific, with very generous portions, flavorful entrees, nice bread, and a well chosen wine list. Attentive, polite service, and very good value by today's standards. We were happily impressed by the overall experience.
Always consistent; great place for pre-theatre. They understand and can accommodate time constraints. Inventive flavorings and pairings with the food. Always our "go to" place in that area.
Great food, service was excellent.
Dodd was delicious as usual. There vegetarian options are superb. Always a fabulous meal
Went for a pre theater dinner on a rainy Tuesday evening. The food and service were great. We had the beet salad which was amazing. I would recommend this restaurant for sure.
Every time I go to Teatro I am impressed. The food was excellent and the wait staff is efficient and friendly.
A friend highly recommended this place to me but other than the calamari (tender and delicious) and the pastas (ethereal) I’m mystified by the hype. Solid but skimpy beet salad with the merest smear of goat cheese and bland lamb dish that seemed to be missing the gremolata, desperately needed salt and was served atop watery tasteless “polenta.” The service was attentive and the restaurant itself attractive but for the price there are much better Italian restaurants in Boston. Very disappointed.
Very nice atmosphere, area, decor. Food was good, prices were expected. My only complaint would be that I ordered chicken parm but it didn't come with pasta. Just the chicken. I've never had that before. For the price of pasta, I think they could have included as part of the dish.
We love to eat here before the ballet or theater. There are always so many items on the menu that we can choose from and we have never been disappointed!
I had one of the greatest dirty martinis of my life here! And the fungi pizza blew me away as well. Will definitely return. Everything was top quality and well presented. We were a table of four who had some drinks from the bar and split a bunch of courses and were blown away at how reasonable the bill was at the end of evening
