We believe that food that is inspired will translate into dishes that are the right blend of modern, yet approachable, familiar yet creative. This is the key to a memorable meal. Wine pairings ($95 and $165) and a bottle list will be offered, as well as some classic cocktails and non-alcoholic options. The atmosphere is intimate and modern. Business-casual or “cocktail” attire is suggested.
Incredible dining experience. Every dish was an amalgam of new and interesting flavors.
Fabulous. Usually we find one or two dishes that was stunning from any tasting menu. We had around five to six stunning dishes out of a ten course which was absolutely fabulous.
What a wonderful evening. The food and wine pairing were all delicious. We loved the variety of people who delivered our dishes and explained each course with us. I felt equally attended to and left alone for great conversation and savoring. The portions were perfect - I left satisfied but not overly stuffed. I enjoyed the ambiance. There was music in the background and although it was an intimate place, I did not feel like I was too close to our neighbors or unable to have a great conversation. Perfect evening out!
Overall, this place is amazing! The food was all impeccable, each and every round. Service varied, but most rounds were followed by a brief description from one of the chefs, which was appreciated. Expensive but an incredibly well-done experience!
Chef Don Young delivered up an explosion of ingredients, preparations and concepts in ten plates (11 with an amuse). The variety of products and imaginative preparations included in those dishes was truly remarkable. And yet.... and I hope this quibble we be seen as a modest constructive remark, of ten dishes few of those dishes (the whole of the composed dish) stick in my memory. Excepting a fantastic foie gras ice cream with bacon waffle and rhubarb and bits of other dishes, a magically prepared bit of white asparagus or a small taste of comte grilled cheese and others. Like many young artists Chef Young is overflowing with ideas, all of them good. Dole them out more slowly Chef. Make us come back. Temporis could be a bit of thoughtful editing away from two more stars.
I can't say enough good things about Temporis. The food is fabulous and imaginative, the service is impeccable...friendly and comfortable, but completely professional. We always leave looking forward to our next visit. Definitely highly recommend Temporis to foodies and those enjoying tasting menus.
When comparing against other Michelin star places in Chicago, think this ranks towards bottom of our list - but still a good place to try. With Oriole setting the standard, found the food over salted and in some cases (first course with doughnut) undercooked. Wine pairing was ok - nothing stood out. Service was fantastic however and chef was very engaging when he came to the table.
This restaurant is very bold in mixing various flavors yet keeping each of the flavors strong enough. Your taste bud just feels spoiled with so many rich flavors in such a short time. We like the experience for sure.
a lovely experience, quite different from what we're used to. the food was exciting and fun. many, MANY ingredients per dish. wonderful service and was honored to have the executive chef come out to chat!! good luck temporis wish you the best!
On the plus side, the space has the feel of a very special fine dining experience and
the chef often comes to the table to explain the composition of the dish. The plating and presentation of each dish is very artistic. The service by the front of the house was very good. On the negative side, the food was extremely salty and did not taste good. Each dish had too many competing elements and did not mesh well. For each of the ten courses I took one bite and left the rest on the plate. All other reviews of this restaurant online are spectacular and I was hoping this would be my new favorite restaurant.
I was very disappointed and cannot recommend this place to a friend.
My advice to the chef is to try to make each bite amazing and not focus so much on the visual appearance of the dish.
Excellent and creative food. The service was second to none.
We had a really great experience! The doughnut, grilled cheese, wagyu, and meatloaf were by far our favorite courses. It was great to get to see the basement so we could see the garden.
We can’t wait to be back! :-)
Food and wine exquisite. This was probably the best meal of my life.
Great food, great staff, great chef and exceptional plating.
One of the finest restaurants in Chicago. And congratulations to Chef Don Young on his 1 Star Michelin rating. And thanks to Laura for providing us with a wonderful fine dining experience. Great wine pairing too.
Great service and wonderful meal!
Very good service. Good food, although some dishes were clearly too salty and some other had flavors covering the main ingredient (scallop, salmon...). Not the best food we've had in a one Michelin star restaurant, and the price of a 2 Michelin stars (520$ for 2 persons, with a "light and cheaper version" of the wine pairing!). The wines in particular were underwhelming and overprice (96$ for the standard wine pairing : 5 glasses of pretty average wines...)
Overall a disappointing experience, considering how expensive it was...
One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. Beautiful food and wine pairings.
We went to Temporis for a late valentine’s day dinner. Did the tasting menu with reserve wine pairing. The wine selection was great with generous pours :) our servers was really friendly and attentive. The food was good overall but a bit salty/too heavy for us.
This was our second visit. We love the creativity of the menu. The combination of tastes is fantastic. Servic, wine and ambience all add to a perfect experience.
This restaurant just keeps getting better every time I come in. So glad they received a well-deserved Michelin Star 🌟 to help keep them busy. It's really a hidden gem on a stretch of Ashland without much else going on. The young chef is putting his own elevated fine dining touch on Midwest staples from his childhood like meatloaf, grilled cheese and PB&J
Went back to Temporis after 18 months . The restaurant has matured and finding its stride... loved it !
Took a group of six friends to see if the new Michelin starred restaurant was worth the hype... absolutely YES!! Creative and beautiful dishes, perfect wine pairings. Impeccable service. Pricey, but the high expectations were met - you get what you pay for :-)
We had a lovely meal on a very comfortable and attractive setting. The most enjoyable tasting menu I have enjoyed in quite some time!
Great service & ambiance. Our server was fantastic. Chef showed us why they earned their star. He presented many of the courses & was very kind in chatting with us at the end of dinner. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a non-stuffy fine dining experience.
Amazing food, very impressive given the space.
It was an inspired night of food! Phenomenal food and overall dining experience.
Excellent menu and wine-pairings. Unassuming but a real experience to be carried through the tasting. Friendly, helpful service from the staff. The reserve wine pairing was totally worth it.
Enjoyable evening. Each dish explained by the chef who prepared it. No dish was similar so for each dish you experienced a different taste, texture or food type so it was fun to guess what comes next without reviewing the tasting menu. Expect a 3 hour dining experience.
Temporis has fast become one of my very favorite restaurants. What's not to love about this place? Super friendly staff that is both polished, yet personable and truly enhances the dining experience. Amazing, food that uses top quality ingredients, is perfectly executed and manages to be both unique and delicious course-after-course. A relaxing, elegant (but not at all stuff) comfortable dining room. On top of this the venue is at such a great point in time, at two years old they have hit their stride and found their identity, yet are still thirsty and pushing to elevate even higher. And on top of this Temporis is probably the best bargain in fine dining in town!
My family and I enjoyed Temporis. The tasting menu had a unique twist on some home style foods and you have to wonder how they get all of those different flavors in the plates that only take 1 or a couple bites to finish. However, after devouring the "small" plates, we were stuffed! We also did the wine pairing, which was pretty good. My mother wanted a diet coke and from experience of going to similar restaurants like Alinea, they don't typically carry Coke or Pepsi refreshments, but with no judgement they went across the street and got her some and served it to her in a nice glass. Overall, it was a great experience with the family and great service. It was exciting to meet the chef, Don Young, you could tell he is passionate about his food. We recommend going here!
Wonderful experience. Foodie without the fancy. Polished without the stuffy. Precise without all the rules of engagement. Great food, great fun, and great service for the entire party, not one size fits all. Dinner with an edge, a message, and a sense of humor, and above all flat out great food. If you enjoy the tasting menu format, or if you are curious, do yourself a favor and grab the next available reservation...and don’t forget the wine pairing. Cheers!
Impeccable!! Would definitely go back, and will continue recommending it to everyone.
Wondeful service, inventive menu. We enjoyed all the delicious dishes and wine pairing, we did the standard pairing. We added the white truffle to our dessert and it did not disappoint. Our favorites, my husband loved the rabbit meatloaf and corn 4 ways. I loved the scallop, the omelette and the take on the PB J with the foie ice cream. Thank you for a great dining experience.
Food portions were not large, but the food was delicious and creative. We liked the option to have 2/3 wine pairings.
The food was amazing. This tops my list for tasting menus in Chicago right now. I might skip the wine pairing next time and just order drinks a la carte to try their cocktail options.
The food was nice, and the seasonal white truffles were a treat. Service was pleasant and collegial, but very slow (it was a 4+ hour meal - make sure to leave extra time). It took almost 20 minutes to be approached about drinks and our preference. Not in the same tier as Oriole or Alinea, but a very nice dining option.
The restaurant was fantastic and food and atmosphere incredible.
Very well crafted food that can also be fun. Chef was involved in the tables and active. Overall a very enjoyable experience.
Had a higher expectation for a Michelin star restaurant..? We had the tasting menu with wine pairing:
Presentation was artful and intriguing. However, the dishes were complex to the point of overwhelming the main ingredient rather than supporting/showcasing/enhancing it. The overall flavors and textures were good, but a bit confusing as to their focus on the palate. One dish came quite oversalted. Sent back and returned about the same, indicating that the pre-prepped elements remained unchanged. Another dish arrived well below serving temperature.
The wine pairing was enjoyable throughout the meal. Many were spot on. The highlight of the evening was the service. Very personable and attentive! Among the best that we have experienced...
All in all, an OK evening, but there are many other (non-starred) restaurants in Chicago that provide a higher and more enjoyable culinary experience. I would suggest that you try those first.
