First courses were inventive and delicious. Rigatoni second course was basic. Ravioli good but not as creative as first course. Mains were just ok. Nothing special and again not very creative. Dessert—sticky cake with toffee—was very good and creative flavors. Only issue about service was we were asked for full order and despite menu open tables were moved along too fast. For the $ it should have had a better pace.

Lovely dining experience for Father's Day. We've always enjoyed the adventure of eating at Voltaggio brother restaurants - and trying new menu items from local and regional suppliers.

Every aspect of our meal at Thacher and Rye was wonderful. The restaurant, the service, the food - all neat as a pin. Our cocktails were delightfully summery. Our meal was excellent - each dish was seasoned to perfection and brought amazing flavors. Notable flavors - the green tomato sugo on the goat cheese ravioli, the chamomile beurre blanc on the striped bass, pickled french breakfast radishes served with the duck rillette were lovely, the chocolate dessert with orange was so well balanced. You won’t be disappointed with a meal at Thacher & Rye. Staff is kind & attentive but otherwise relaxed, which makes for the ideal experience.

service was just acceptable, not exceptional, which is what it should be. Only one dish was exceptionable, the others, all ordinary. Overall, not like the Volt you remembered.

The oysters were great and the chocolate mousse with blood orange was fantastic! The entrees were rather bland, although beautifully presented. The staff and service were outstanding.

To celebrate my wife completing the year as a teacher, during COVID, she deserved some place special, Thacher & Rye is it. We enjoyed the Love Local Dinner series with parings from the MISCellaneous Distillery. The Main Man prepared our first course, which my wife watched to her delight. The Tuna Tartare was fresh and excellent paired well with the gin matching drink. Second course was Kale Spaccatelli with its rich warm flavors matched extremely well with the Rye Penicillin, I could have stopped there. But then I would have missed the flank steak with beet mole. Of course cooked to a medium rare perfection, with the earthy and spicy beet mole sauce. The earthy tones of the mole was matched with a dark rum drink, again excellent. The only sadness came when I realized the dinner was over and I could only have one desert. The choice was Sticky Toffee Cake which wowed, but I also had desert envy as I spied Ice Cream Sandwich at a neighboring table. All in all, my wife was extremely happy and the celebration of her accomplishment, she felt well rewarded by the meal we had at Thacher & Rye.

Prix fixe local menu with drink pairings was great! Got to meet Chef Bryan, seated in the Chef’s Table rooms and watched all the food be cooked and prepared to be served. Wonderful evening!!

Food was delicious. Disappointed that patio was closed felt isolated in bar area since we were the only guest there but did appreciate them finding a table inside since there were impending thunderstorms. Look forward to going back.

We had family in town and have to say this was an incredible dining experience. The food was amazing, the service was on point and we enjoyed every minute we spent at Thatcher and Rye. The Tuna Tartare with the french onion dip, the Spent grain rye bread with the smoked salmon, the Virginia cured ham with cornbread and of course the cocktails, everything was perfect!

A special occasion place for sure, but with a burger on the menu and their Wednesday special events, the former Volt has edged into a treat for ordinary date nights as well.

Chef Voltaggio continues his excellence. The food is outstanding - worthy of a Top Chef! And the weekly dinner pairings with wine or cocktails from local wineries and distilleries are both fun and exciting! Fine dining at its best - and highly recommended!

Food was nothing special. Most of it was pretty good, but for the prices, all of it should be outstanding. And it wasn’t; some of the misses: Spiced shrimp was overly salty and overcooked; the brioche bun for the burger was stale (hmm, closed Mon-Tue, we ate there on a Wednesday, did they try to stretch it too far?!). After hearing so much about it, disappointing overall.

Only issue with the noise level was from motorcycle noise from the street - just something that goes hand in hand with outdoor dining, no fault of the restaurant.

I would suggest they consider tweaking the menu to add additional breakfast type items on the brunch menu and also some lighter options/salads for the summer.

The skillet coffee cake was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The foods are great, especially the pork loin was very soft and tasty. The best part was that I did not smell any pork smell, which I thought was amazing! However, I was not much satisfied with the atmosphere as the dining area was too bright and a bit more noisy than expected.

Overall, they are good and I am fairly satisfied.

Wonderful. Delicious food in a beautiful historic building., creative cocktails. Very good service. They have a lovely outdoor dining and bar area. Bar area has premixed drinks available or could order a drink from inside bar and bring it out.

Went for Sunday brunch for the first time since the name change. Although I like ordering courses, I was hoping to see the traditional brunch menu and just order a meal. Had four courses and the food was great, but not traditional brunch food.

We enjoyed an incredible evening at Thatcher and Rye! Enjoyed a variety of seasonal dishes that were elevated, fresh and absolutely delicious! Flavorful asparagus with soft egg, oysters and tuna appetizers, an amazing earthy risotto entree prepared with a medley of mushrooms, including morels and ramp butter, and a moist, flavorful, perfectly cooked chicken dish, followed up by a wow- chocolate orange dessert! Loved our server and all of the supporting service from the bar, kitchen and front of the house was great! All of this with a twinkling outdoor ambience, with a private, lively vibe! Perfect Friday evening! Thank you!

Very good, a special dinner and I would definitely go back. I heard about the restaurant after watching Top Chef. I live in Bethesda and have not seeing it reviewed by WaPost. It is located in a beautiful building, great bar area but I probably got the worst table at the restaurant but still a great dinner and great service. I will make sure I get a different table next time!

Food came out at different times, long wait for entrees, some dishes were served warm, while others were hot right out of the kitchen. Risotto way too salty and way overpriced for the small portion that was served at room temperature. Chicken and biscuits best deal, but can get that at other restaurant they own, Show Room.
