We enjoyed a very delicious brunch. The menu contained a very nice variety of items , something for everyone, and the food was excellent in taste and plating. We will definitely visit again!
The bartenders were amazing! Food and drinks were wonderful as always!
Food is outstanding. Loved all of our appetizers (truffle fries, potstickers and coco shrimp). Could have a few more special drink options (although the Holiday mojito and martini were delicious) we always enjoy our dinners at your restaurant.
Very good food and ambience.
The restaurant is very beautiful when you walk in. The prices are ridiculously high... I ordered soup to have at the same time as my wife's salad, it did not come at the same time, it was almost 15 minutes after and im willing to bet the soup is in a pot keeping warm and just needs scooped. In the soup there was a small chicken bone that i am glad I felt before swallowing. Form my meal i had the crab au gratin, it had a piece of something hard that i hope was crab shell. My wife had beef tips, she offered me a bite and the piece i had, had a large amount of grizzel / fat in it. Also i understand that the restaurant's are hurting and short staffed i am compassionate about that but 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to a mediocre main course is just crazy. i will not suggest this restaurant to anyone ever.
. It wasn’t too busy.
Our server was very friendly. Everyone was very welcoming. Food was worth the value. We got the truffle fries which were amazing. I got the short rib which was delicious and a huge portion. I also got the seasonal cocktail- cosmo. It was sweet and yummy. My significant other got the trout which didn’t come with any sides which was disappointing but he added the green beans which were cooked to perfection. It was our anniversary and we loved our night out. We skipped dessert because I am gluten free but they did offer one gluten free option which was a chocolate tort.
Most of the food was delicious- very fresh and carefully selected ingredients put together well. Carrot cake was out of this world delicious! Only negative was the trout was astringent. But the staff handled my complaint super well and took care of it. I will definitely be back.
Needed a gluten free meal. The meal that was ordered would come without the sauce in order to be gluten free. We were not told that before the waiter put the order in. My meal was not gluten free but didn’t come with a sauce either. Didn’t realize it until the end of the meal. I ordered the pan seared trout and it didn’t come with any sides or additional items. $27 for two pieces of trout seems a little steep. Service was a little slow. This is one of our favorite spots and it was disappointing. Going to give it one more try before deciding not to return.
Food was excellent. We had a combination of Vegan/Vegetarian and a few meat eating folks. Everyone in the party had delicious food and portions were ample. Our server Mike was top notch and very knowledgeable about the menu.
Food good but disappointing in that there was no bread or salad with meal. Also meat a little undercooked
Wife and I went for New Year’s Eve dinner. Sat at a booth in the bar. We split a salad; she had ravioli, I had the pork chop. Salads are eminently shareable; she loved her ravioli, I was OK w/the pork chop. Too much sauce and an average piece of meat. Prices are fair and the service good. We go there quite often, which speaks for itself. Always a quality experience.
We have been to The Barn many times in the past and had great experiences. Unfortunately, our visit on New Year's Eve was less than pleasant. We had reservations at 5:30pm, arrived at 5:25pm and were seated immediately by the hostess. The restaurant was barely half full and we saw others being seated after us and getting service within a few minutes. We never even had a server come to our table though many went right by us and no one ever enquired if we needed a server or water. After waiting for 15 minutes we left at 5:45pm. We did let the hostess know that we had never been greeted or waited on. It was a very disappointing experience for our New Year's Eve dinner that we made reservations for ahead of time.
The rustic interior of The Barn is warm and inviting. The food is five star! Our server, Nathan, was the best. We will request him the next time we make dinner reservations.
Our food was delicious - everyone at our table loved everything we ate. Drinks were wonderful and our server Brianna was attentive and sweet.
Unfortunately we were seated in a worn out booth seat which was very uncomfortable. We were told that they couldn’t move us to a more comfortable table with chairs. We probably won’t be back.
Our party of 4 had a delightful dinner. Our server was great as was the food and drinks.
Food was awesome, employees kind and on top of it!
We have been frequent guests of Allenberry. We love coming here for the quiet evenings, the beautiful setting, great food and great service. Last night was a special night as it was her birthday. I noticed that the menu no longer was offering a steak option. Something I had also noticed back in September when we last visited. We spoke with our server (Billy I believe) who mentioned that he had only been there a few weeks. Billy mentioned that he has had that same concern raised previously as well and would pass on our thoughts.
We placed our order. She ordering the pork chops. I ordered the Barn Burger with truffle fries. A few minutes later Billy returned to tell us that they had just sold out of the pork chops and she would need to chose something else. She went with the crispy chicken sandwich and truffle fries. After a period of time our dinners were delivered. She was given the homemade chips instead of the truffle fries, and I was given the normal fries instead of truffle fries. Billy immediately noticed the mistake and went to the kitchen to correct it. After a few more minutes, Billy brought us a basket of fries for the table "on him."
We love Allenberry and will absolutely be returning. Last night was an anomaly. I do hope that a steak option makes it's way back on to the menu.
I will say that Billy did a great job. Was knowledgeable and attentive.
Very lovely restaurant with friendly and professional staff.
Food was excellent!
Recommend that the website menu be updated to match food offerings.
Onion soup is a year round favorite...keep it on the menu.
Everyone from the hostess to our server were very friendly. Our table was ready when we arrived. The food was outstanding.
The food was fantastic and will definitely return for this. The only reason I deducted a star was because the coffee is quite poor. The table ordered espresso and cappuccino. Espresso had no crème and I’m sure the cappuccino was made with half and half. I asked the waiter about the poor quality and he said espresso is made using pods. Unfortunately you cannot justify a cappuccino for $4 using a pod, nor should you serve espresso pod coffee. Buy whole beans grind them and serve real espresso if you would like to call it that. Otherwise awesome place, with fantastic service and great ambiance.
Spending the weekend while hiking the AT. Great location and the sticky buns are a great start to a long section hike!
As always, we loved our dining experience at The Barn at Allenberry. We’re still talking about how delicious our food was and look forward to our next visit. The whole place is wonderful!
It was a great experience, Mike our server was outstanding.
The food was very good and perfect timing as we where going to the play Elf.
Would highly recommend!!!!
Beautiful location! Food was delicious, service good.
Really a terrific place. The Brussel Sprouts and the Trout are top notch, well-prepared, unique, and downright delicious.
I had reservations for 10 at 12:45 today, for Brunch, and opted for outdoor dining. Since I made reservations, you would think they would be prepared for our visit. They had to set tables and the heaters weren’t turned on. Also, they had to mess with the heater and change the propane on one of them, and that took about ten minutes. When the waitress arrived to take our order, we had to request for glasses of water and utensils. We waited for an hour to get our food, and when it came, my dish, which was the old Country Breakfast was cold. I had to ask for butter and syrup, because it didn’t come with it. What a disappointing time at The Barn. I wanted to give my guests a nice dining experience, because they were visiting for Chicago and Montana respectively, and the experience wasn’t quite up to par.
Wonderful setting. Went for brunch. Live music a plus. Service was fine, but the food was served cool.
Overall it was a good brunch experience but not the best meal I’ve had at Allenberry. Some of our brunch items were not hot when they arrived at the table, others were a good temperature. Another business plagued by kitchen staffing shortages. Loved the live music.
Food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent.
Beautiful ambiance, lovely service and delicious food. Highly recommended.
I was disappointed that there were no side salads or bread offered or any choices of sides with dishes. I was also sad to see that there was no steaks or crab cakes on the menu.
I have dined there in the past and enjoyed the steaks.
This place has so much potential. It is a beautiful setting and building. The Harrisburg/Carlisle has so few higher quality restaurant options to pick from. This one misses the marks across the board.
Like many restaurants they were extremely under staffed. One waitress for our entire room. Hopefully this will change post COVID. Beverages took over 30 minutes to get. They may want to covert some of their water waiters into servers to help with the flow.
For the food. None of their entrees on the on line menu were actually available. They had an entirely different menu with more comfort foods than for a nice sit down meal.
The wine list is extremely limited and does not have great options. While reasonably priced not great wines to pick.
This place is like a piece of coal wanting to be turned into a diamond. There is definitely a clientele in the area that would support the business under the right management and chef. For now, I will pass on going here again until that happens.
I was excited to try this restaurant as I heard good things. It wasn’t busy, however, the hostess asked us to be seated in the basement when the main dining area was empty. For some reason, the couple behind us were seated in the main dining area. We were dressed business casual so not sure why they targeted us down in the basement.
I felt awkward the whole time, mainly because the server stated that typically people are sent down in the basement as overflow or if they did not make a reservation, which we clearly made a reservation through open table and it was a slow night.
The server was friendly and made up for the hostesses. Maybe train your front staff especially when they’re the first impression of the restaurant.
It did take awhile to get anyone to serve us as they didn’t realize anyone was seated down in the basement.
Once we ordered, the appetizers were fantastic and my husband and sister enjoyed their entrees. I was disappointed in my entree which were the scallops. My first bite was cold and parts were luke warm. I could not finish it.
The dessert-sticky bun a-la-mode was amazing and made up for the entree.
Not sure if we will come back.
Limited menu with good food and good service. The setting of the restaurant is lovely and the cleanliness is on point.
First, I want to air my gripes. The dining room was essentially empty, yet we couldn't get a reservation later than 4:30. As the evening progressed, there were more patrons, but the restaurant was by no means full. Additionally, with the aforementioned empty room, we were seated next to the porch doors, which guests were using. It was 48 degrees outside. I'm puzzled. Now for the mostly good stuff. The drinks were good and the truffle fries were very good. The pumpkin ravioli missed the mark with an agrodulce sauce that just did not complement the character of the dish. The short ribs were very good and our server was pleasant.
We’ve enjoyed every dinner visit to Allenberry…fantastic food, service and atmosphere!
We anyways have great service, great food and great experience!!
