Really friendly staff , we had a fab evening
We were a party of six on a busy Saturday evening. The first thing to comment favourably on was the superb service given by he lady who served our table - along with several others. She was wonderful - welcoming, charming and incredibly efficient in taking and recording orders for food and drink. The second thing was the quality of the food - which was excellent, and the proportions were just the right size. Our party had a lovely evening and we will be back again!
It was very noisy when we arrived as a large party had booked in, it improved once that group had been seated. Menu was seasonal and interesting. Most food was well cooked but one dish of pheasant was tough and dry. Staff were friendly and service was good. They coped with criticism of the poor dish well. We would go back.
They’ve changed the menu and I don’t think the food “choices” are as good as before
However, it’s a lovely country pub and the service and friendliness of the staff is excellent
the music from the fiddlers next door was a great touch, staff and food was perfect, will be back!
Absolutely lovely Birthday Dinner. Food was superb, service perfect!
Delicious food, generous portions, great price, friendly staff, lovely views. Highly recommended!
Having eaten here before and being very pleased with the service, meal size and price I decided to take my friends there for a Monday evening meal. I decided to have the ‘Dumb Post Pie of the Day’ which was Chicken, Ham and Leek, with vegetables and mashed potato. The food, whilst palatable, did not come anyway near the description of what was expected. The ‘Pie’ to use that phrase loosely, lacked any pastry and was of such a small size I assumed the approximately 8cm mini pan it arrived in was just the potato. The Depth of the pie was no more than 4cm, being mostly mashed potato and a small amount of Chicken etc. If I had been informed that the pie was a ‘Cottage’ style then I would not have expected pastry but would still have expected a larger serving as this was more of a ‘starter meal’!
I was offered more potato, which when ready to be served I refused as myself and guests had completed our meals.
Whilst my complaint at the time resulted in my not being charged for the meal, my male guest was who had the same as me, I would not have the ‘Pie of the Day’ again. That said the two ladies with us both thoroughly enjoyed their meals. We did not stay for desert.
Overall I was very disappointed with the meal, embarrassed for my guests and would think twice before returning for a weekday meal.
Maybe this was just a ‘one off’?
The food was lovely however we had to wait a long time between getting our roasts and the veg being brought to the table
Beef was quite fatty unfortunately so did t eat much of it
Great service from front of house staff but very noisy group at the bar ( not sure I would be happy if we took our little one for dinner) and was hard to hear our own conversation
Food was ok , very long wait on each course but luckily the front of house staff were polite and friendly which made up for it
The food was absolutely divine-every single course! The staff were lovely and very attentive. The ambiance, the buzz and the cosiness of the pub is just what you need on an autumnal evening!Plus 2 of our favourite ales on draught! We have recently moved to the area and the Dumb Post has already become our favourite place!
Great venue, wonderful food and a good price. Will definitely be coming again.
After a genuinely warm welcome we enjoyed a couple of drinks at the bar before moving on to an outstandingly good dinner. My bacon wrapped partridge with mushroom and black truffle puree was beautifully presented and delicious. The rest of the menu is varied and offers something for most tastes as well as some traditional pub fare. This traditional 19th Century pub has loads of warm, friendly atmosphere and is a great place for entertaining friends or just a quiet meal as a couple. Like the rest of the friendly staff, table service is attentive and efficient without being intrusive. Overall we enjoyed a 5-star evening and definitely will be back as soon as possible.
Another lovely meal. I went for the roasted butternut squash risotto and it was amazing. Can’t wait to return.
We've been to the Dumb Post on numerous occasions and always had a good meal there. However, last Saturday's food was very average. The portions were on the small side especially the gnocchi, my burger was overcooked and the steak was not as good as it could have been. We will probably visit again and hope that this was just a one off.
Would recommend. Food very nice. Service friendly.
Very delicious food and perfect drinks!
Family friendly, space for the children to run around whilst parents enjoy a stunning view. Food was absolutely delicious!! We all enjoyed something different & top ratings from everyone.
We’ve been to the Dumbpost a lot so were really disappointed ☹️ the food was ok but we weren’t given any serving spoons for our veg, the service was slow and no soap in the toilet and when I asked for some I got given hand sanitizer 😢 I said I would like soap and had to chase half an hour later.
I never knew the pub existed after 20 years living in Devizes. A great find and can’t wait for another visit.
Lovely setting. Great menu and delivery. Good to see our local pub upgraded like this.
Normally dine during the week and the Dumb Post is one of our favourites. Dined first time on a Sunday and it was very busy, but everything seemed under control.
The staff were really lovey and my son feel special on his birthday and of course the food was delicious
Had a fantastic evening. The ambiance was brilliant, the food tasty and the service friendly. Would recommend.
As always both the food and service was excellent, as our lunch was on a Monday morning the Resturant was not too busy but still a great atmosphere.
The dumb Post Inn is a pub which is worth a visit your made very welcome from the first step through the door, good food & beers with excellent service the pub setting is also lovely we will come back again
A totally enjoyable meal within a lovely environment.
The Dumb Post is a very welcoming family pub, great selection of drinks with amazing food. As well as this the staff are very welcoming and always willing to help.
I would recommend a visit to this amazing country pub.
Nice and friendly, with nothing too much trouble for the staff. CV precautions first class with outdoor dining best for the wonderful views. Sunday lunch was very filling with no room for a dessert!
Great to see The Dumb Post so busy and buzzing - despite this, the lovely staff stayed friendly and efficient. They must be knackered at the end of a shift 🤗
As always, lovely food, lovely pub and lovely atmosphere xxx
Came for a meal after a long day of work and was suggested the crab special. We had never tried crab before but it sounded nice so we went for it snd it was amazing! The burger and the fish and chips were cooked perfectly snd the onion rings and Mac and truffle cheese were very good. Very well priced and a lovely garden area. I would highly recommend.
Fantastic vista as we dined outside. Food amazing and the staff welcoming and understood the balance of helping but not intruding
Great service and lovely food!
I like to visit the Dumb Post during the week as it gets very busy at week-ends. The view from the outside setting area is outstanding, and the seating area is very well laid out. The staff are very friendly and the service was good. With respect to food, they do a few dishes extremely well (e.g. fish and chips and burgers are great), though they could do with one or two low cholesterol options - the vegetables are covered in butter, and there a lot of dishes with cheese and bacon, which tastes wonderful, but given that I have to cut down on these things, is a bit limiting.
As always the food was fabulous, unfortunately on this occasion the service was a little slow, but it was busy. Wouldn’t stop us from going again though.
This was a random pick from me and my partner…. and I have to say we were not disappointed. The food was amazing, very delicious also very beautifully presented. The staff were friendly and checked to make sure everything was ok! We were so happy with the meal that we will be going back again in the future.
Also the view from the balcony is beautiful and blissful and with outdoor heating that was an added benefit!
We are looking forward to returning soon, Thank you to all staff and to the chef for cooking such beautiful food
Lovely meal out the only reason I gave 4 stars for food is the triple cooked chips were a little too crunchy and not much potato left inside but overall very nice
We went for dinner for the first time in ages, the staff were welcoming and efficient. Couldn't do enough to make sure we were OK.
It's a hidden gem of a pub, delicious food and a lovely atmosphere. Perfect for lunch, dinner or a quick drink whilst out walking along the many cycle paths and bridle ways which surround it.
Well worth the visit for the beautiful views from the garden alone!
Nice pub, good beer, good location. Food ok but took a while to arrive (40 minutes from time of arrival). They nearly ran out of chips and my brother literally was served with only 8. Also the menu was only part of what was advertised on the website. I was recommended this pub but I think they must have had an off day. I live locally so will probably try again sometime
Good food and good value but needed a bit more atmosphere. A bit of low back ground music would have been nice. It is a balance as you want to be able to chat but as we were there quite early for lunch it lacked a welcoming vib.
