The Elkridge Furnace Inn
Chef-owned, yard and farm to table, using lots of local sourcing, our complex dishes turn ordinary ingredients into something extraordinary. Seasonal menu and daily specials. Our historic location is part of the adventure!
We serve a fusion of New American and French Inspiration. Our executive chef was trained under the French disciplines which always come out in our stocks, sauces and presentations. Many regional and ethnic cuisines influenced by French cuisine are also reflected on our menu. Our in-House Pastry will add just the right ending to your dining experience.
We love creating special times to share with our friends. We intersect literature, history and geography as story with our food. There is always something new and creative happening. At the Elkridge Furnace Inn and Garden House, “we make Memories”.

One of the best meals I have ever had in my life. Elegant and delicious. And I do not like to be overwhelmed by my plate (tons of food). It was just the right amount of food to be utterly delicious and very satiating. I wish some of the other diners had dressed nicer (seriously, shorts when at a fine dining restaurant in October?), but the slovenliness of other diners is not the fault of the restaurant. We were dressed elegantly and enjoyed the meal, the soft romantic music and lighting, the very young and eager-to-please wait staff. And the food!!!!!!!! Extra fun was a visit from the chef who shared some of his travel stories with us, as well as the history of the dish I ordered: Coquille St. Jacques.
Wonderful in every way. Will certainly return.
Everything was great with exception of the meal. I had a steak which was the most expensive thing on menu. It was mostly fat and over charred with really no flavor. (Had way better from Outback) my wife had a shrimp dish which she also stated was lacking flavor. Our app was calamari which was ok. We ordered 2 desserts as they sounded very appetizing. Unfortunately they both lacked much flavor as well and seemed to have been heated in a microwave? For the price of our meal, we were both extremely underwhelmed! As for the atmosphere and waiter we were very satisfied and otherwise had a great evening.
We had a great time celebrating our Anniversary. I have already booked a brunch to celebrate a friend's Birthday.
Expensive for small portions. Not their best effort. With the prices charged is it really necessary to charge $1 for a piece of bread. Not going back.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at EFI on Wednesday evening as we were eager to return after a few years and had little interest in venturing into Baltimore or DC. We were warmly welcomed by name and ushered through the historic main building into the permanent tented area. Tables were appropriately distanced and though the signature ambiance that we have enjoyed in the past when seated in the restaurant's interior was missing due COVID restrictions, we completely understood the situation. Our waiter was knowledgeable on the menu, the specials and their unique cocktail offerings. We have always appreciated their wine list for its depth and broad selection with bottles within every budget. EFI's emphasis on using vegetables and herbs grown on property was still in evidence and we both enjoyed our entrees and our deserts. Chef Dan came around to greet each table and we felt like he listened intently to our inputs. We look forward to returning when the interior of the building is open again and we would recommend that if you haven't visited this local gem, you should fix that as soon as you can.
This place is indeed a gem! Think Inn at Little Washington on a manageable yet affordable scale! It is part of a historic park, so the grounds are lovely; so quaint and timeless. You feel like you stepped into something special! The owners are so authentically lovely and caring about your experience; so personal! And the menu is carefully curated with seasonal and local elements. The service is perfection. My recent meal was slightly under seasoned, but I could take care of that to my own taste. Do not miss the seasonal pecan tart; a perfect dessert! And the custom apple mimosa was a beautiful fall sparkling treat! Really, such a lovely experience from start to finish!
Very well laid out for COVID dining including a huge outdoor tent (heated and cooled) with great circulation of fresh air.
Staff is masked and does a great job of being distantly attentive.
The food is as always superb farm-to-table fare.
Food was fantastic but Covid induced 11/2 hour delay to be served was unacceptable. If the kitchen cannot handle the number of guests, then there should be fewer guests.
We had a lovely time at the Elkridge Furnace Inn. E enjoyed the charcuterie plate and the lobster special. The seasonal cocktails are fun to try. The desserts are to die for! They’ve set up outside on the beautiful grounds. The owner is really sweet, and makes sure you’re taken care of. Will be back!
Great night dining outside, all of our items were outstanding
An absolutely amazing restaurant - hands down one of our favorites! The food is incredible and well worth the cost, and you can feel the hard work and passion that is poured into the food and ambiance by Chef Dan and his staff. We are always treated with wonderful service and have thoroughly enjoyed each visit!
I really enjoyed the fact that the chef will prepare almost anything gluten-free on the menu. Since they have an organic garden right on the property, I enjoyed eating fresh grown vegetables that didn't sit on a grocery store shelf for weeks. I enjoyed my meal very much and I plan to come back.
Fantastic service and attention to detail. Expect to pay a little more for ala carte options but we loved the options and totally worth it. Ambience only rated less because there is no indoor dining right now but the gardens are beautiful - otherwise in the tent. Love this place- exceptional fresh food, from the garden -love it.
Great food, fantastic service in a safe environment
What a hidden gem! Essentially private dining in your own room, the chef joined us at the table and created special one-off dishes described by my fellow diners. Amazing.
Always a great experience here. Never disappoints.
Date Night with my wife. It was a great experience. The staff and owner are very attentive and interested. The food was outstanding, as it always is. We v=really enjoyed our experience, and we will be back.
We celebrated our first wedding anniversary at the restaurant we were married at. Food was outstanding and everyone was so welcoming. So much home grown deliciousness!!
Wonderful as always! Hoping we’re out of this pandemic soon so that your dining rooms are filled to overflowing.
Great food/wonderful building
Nice, outdoor brunch with great service and delicious food!
We went to Elkridge Inn to celebrate our anniversary with our two kids. We sat outside at the perfect table for our kids to get up and walk around to explore the gardens. The gardens are beautiful and the tables are spaced nicely. That’s the end of the high notes. The food and service were average at best. It took a long time for our waiter to come and take our drink orders and there were very long waits between getting drinks and taking orders for appetizers, dinner etc. I understand that the staff is reduced right now but saw other tables getting faster service. All of our food needed more seasoning-especially just salt (which is not on the table). The food was lackluster and did not justify the high prices they charge. For example, we were charged $20 for a child’s cheese burger and $16 for buttered noodles which is just crazy-no burger or noodles are worth that. With all the hype this place gets I was surprised at the mediocrity of the food. We would only return for drinks and the view.
I've previously recommended EFI to friends, but not after this most recent visit. We were seated quickly under the big outdoor tent. Temperatures were cool that day and as the sun was setting they dropped even more. The staff took no proactive measures to evaluate the comfort of their guests. When they did start closing flaps, they did not close them all, leaving a big opening right in front of us.
The waiter's assistant was attentive, but the waiter was not.
We spent 2 hours there, with at least 30 minutes waiting for our first course.
We would have gotten dessert, but since it took 20 minutes after our plates were cleared for the waiter to show up again, we decided we had enough and asked for the check instead.
The venue itself is beautiful in the daylight.
As usual, great food and service
This was our first venture to a restaurant since March. EFI had each table appropriately distanced and everyone was sat outside in their tent. All of the staff were wearing masks and they ask guests to wear masks while going to their table and walking around the restaurant.
Brunch was very good. I had the Creamed Chipped Venison. The gravy that it came in was fantastic. My wife had the quiche and my sister had the Huevos Rancheros. We all enjoyed everything. They also had freshly-made scones, which were great.
All in all, a very nice experience and we will be going back. EFI found a lot of creative ways of staying open during the pandemic. It is nice to see them getting back into the full swing of things.
Chef Dan and the staff are doing well, working hard to accommodate guests during the pandemic. The menu is filled with fresh vegetables and fruits grown there at the Inn and brought in from local growers. Chef works his magic to bring wonderful dishes to your table. Don't hesitate. Go and enjoy!
Elkridge never disappoints good food, good service. Beautiful building.
We ate outdoors at a lovely table surrounded by an 18th century home along a river that has been transformed into a beautiful upscale restaurant. We had a fabulous brunch from an extensive menu of farm to table food. We loved the time spent at this restaurant.
Chef Dan and his wife came over to our table during our dinner to meet us.
The food is amazing and I highly recommend! We will be going back soon!
Always a treat to enjoy a meal here. Large outdoor area (under a high tent, actually) allows you a great dining experience while still feeling very safe. Definitely 5 stars!
creative and flavorful dishes made with very fresh ingredients presented in style. Outstanding service
