The Elkridge Furnace Inn
Chef-owned, yard and farm to table, using lots of local sourcing, our complex dishes turn ordinary ingredients into something extraordinary. Seasonal menu and daily specials. Our historic location is part of the adventure!
We serve a fusion of New American and French Inspiration. Our executive chef was trained under the French disciplines which always come out in our stocks, sauces and presentations. Many regional and ethnic cuisines influenced by French cuisine are also reflected on our menu. Our in-House Pastry will add just the right ending to your dining experience.
We love creating special times to share with our friends. We intersect literature, history and geography as story with our food. There is always something new and creative happening. At the Elkridge Furnace Inn and Garden House, “we make Memories”.
with tomatoes, lemon & parsley in a tartelette shell
Tender Veal Slices Lightly Breaded & served with a Sauce of Lemon, White Wine, Butter & Capers
We had a lovely brunch. We chose to say in the house as everyone else seemed to be eating in the air conditioned tent.
I am a weekly diner and met two friends there for a weekend brunch. They had never been to EFI before and loved the food and peaceful ambiance. They immediately asked to make a dinner reservation and we are all looking forward to our next get together at the end of the month.
Great! 👍 Plenty of gluten-free options
We were celebrating graduates and the Inn’s owner delivered Champagne on the house to toast the event!
It was a wonderful evening with outstanding food!!!!!!!
The Elkridge Furnace Inn offers both indoor (in a beautiful colonial-era house) and outdoor seating options – the outdoor seating offered in what appears to be the establishment’s wedding-venue tent area, with two sides open to the outdoors providing views of waterfront foliage and a verdant bowling green surrounded by lush vegetation.
Every vegetable, most from the restaurant’s proprietary garden, is a delicious testament to summer, often competing with the main dish. One could call the preparation of the Crab Cakes “Continental” as a number of fresh herbs are used in their making, and not even a hint of Old Bay Seasoning could be detected – an interesting take on a local classic. The Market Salad is a delightful combination of fresh-picked salad greens, pickled beets, walnuts, goat cheese and a flavorful vinaigrette. The Seafood Crepe was masterful: the nuttiness of the buckwheat crepe lending itself well to the generous seafood medley and accompany sherry sauce, although I believe that this option was only available on the recently-ended Restaurant Week menu – perhaps the kitchen will see it fit to put this item on the regular menu. A good selection of wines and cocktails will help round out your meal.
Dessert options, though few, are thoughtful, with the Bread Pudding accompanied by a compote of local stone fruit from the restaurant’s own fruit trees the favorite sweet treat of the evening.
Service is always charming and professional: kudos to those in the industry who work under these challenging circumstances. Social distancing is professionally practiced by the restaurant’s staff. And the personal tableside welcome from the chef-owner of this enchanting establishment goes a long way in making one feel right at home.
Brunch is always a lovely experience. The coffee is excellent and the food is divine. The outdoor space is covered and the ceiling fans provide the appropriate coolness. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, this is a safe and wonderful place to unwind in the time of Covid-19.
Never a disappointment. There’s always something new to be excited about at Elkridge and the air conditioned tent dining is perfect under the circumstances.
We enjoyed sitting outside under the tent, we had rain and it was peaceful watching it come down while protected by the covering. We were seating next to the woods and had such a tranquil ambiance. I loved the menu they offered for restaurant week, my favorite was the goat cheese, butter lettuce and beet salad. I also enjoyed the delicious seafood crepe and mashed garlic potatoes. We had a wine steward visit us as we enjoyed the Shiraz we had ordered.
This is one of the restaurant that we visit when we want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city dining. The service is always very attentive. They make us feel most welcome.
They have a good wine selection and daily specialty cocktails. While their food could use a little more creativity, it's always presented well and delicious.
It's a secret gem just a few miles from home. We love it here.
Quaint historic inn. With attentive staff, delicious food, and creative menu. Great place for a special occasion or just a nice dinner.
The evening was perfect. The food was delicious and the service was amazing.
The overall ambience is always inviting and friendly. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you have a pleasant experience and the food / drinks is always excellent .
Great spot for a quiet date night out.
Charming historic setting with exceptional service from knowledgeable staff. Cocktails were amazing and food was very good! Only negative was that the food portion sizes were on the small side. Will come back for special occasions!
Outdoor seating under a tent was great. Food was fabulous.
Great food. Outdoor dining available. Very fresh salad greens. Desserts were a huge hit. Service was impeccable. Will definitely go back again. Wonderful place for a special occasion. Also try their farmer market on Wednesdays.
My wife commented to me that we are lucky to have this restaurant in our back yard since we live in Elkridge. We felt welcome and enjoyed strolling through the gardens after our meal.
Awesome Dining Time! Service was on point along with the food!!!
Birthday dinner with friends
We love the Elkridge Furnace Inn and try to go there for special events and every couple months because the experience is seasonal and always fantastic. Now with our stay-home, stay-healthy in place, we are carrying-out. The options are delicious, the price is great, and it is very convenient. We will continue to carry-out until we can dine in, again! Thank you!!
Athmosphere is excellent, with refurbished 18th century farmhouse to start. Food is awesome, with a new menu every season, lots of local food, and vegetables and spices from their own greenhouse. Always something new, always something different, food is consistently excellent. And, a great wine list.
We love to dine at Elkridge Furnace Inn. We come for brunch at least 4 times a year. It is always a pleasure to see our favorite waiter Brian who provides us with excellent service.
Great food and ambiance. Service was attentive but they were short handed, so a little slow.
Great place for a quiet dinner with a friend. No worries about whether the food or service will be good. Warm atmosphere. Bring your wallet, but it's worth it.
The Elkridge Furnace Inn is one of our favorite places for brunch . The service is exemplary and the food is absolutely fabulous. We always feel welcome and love to bring friends and family there for any occasion. I love the fact that the food is locally sourced and prepared fresh . The chef/owner is very personable as well. If you have not dined here , put it on your bucket list . We can’t wait to have dinner there soon !
