The Elkridge Furnace Inn
Chef-owned, yard and farm to table, using lots of local sourcing, our complex dishes turn ordinary ingredients into something extraordinary. Seasonal menu and daily specials. Our historic location is part of the adventure!
We serve a fusion of New American and French Inspiration. Our executive chef was trained under the French disciplines which always come out in our stocks, sauces and presentations. Many regional and ethnic cuisines influenced by French cuisine are also reflected on our menu. Our in-House Pastry will add just the right ending to your dining experience.
We love creating special times to share with our friends. We intersect literature, history and geography as story with our food. There is always something new and creative happening. At the Elkridge Furnace Inn and Garden House, “we make Memories”.

Great food. Everything was fresh. Would highly recommend this place
Great and attentive service with awesome and tasty food. Really appreciate the effort of the restaurant and its staff for making it a wonderful experience.
First time and it did not disappoint. Interesting and delicious food choices. Excellent service.
Food was excellent but the service and experience was even better. The perfect place for any special occasion.
Elkridge Furnance Inn was a lovely spot for a mid week dinner. The service was a little slow but the server was friendly and tried to be as attentive as possible. Over all it was a wonderful evening.
We went to Elkridge Furnace Inn for Howard County Restaurant Week on a Wednesday evening. The food was excellent, that atmosphere perfect, AND we could hear ourselves!! The one thing, which I hesitate to mention, was service was a bit slow. The Inn was hoping (on a Wednesday!?!?) and the servers were trying. In an historic venue like Elkridge Furnace Inn moving from room-to-room and from kitchen to table is a bit more challenging than in a newly custom built facility. But that is all part of its charm. The evening was wonderful and I would not hesitate to return...soon. Thank you to Chef Dan and his whole team.
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner. This is always our favorite place, especially for French cuisine.
Lovely spot with an excellent brunch! Service is top notch as well.
Excellent place for a special occasion. Varied menu for Restaurant Week. Excellent cocktails and staff was great.
Food was delicious (always is). Nice to have music and seating in enclosure is nice - lighting and temperature good. Only complaint is that restaurant week menu listed creme brûlée as a dessert choice but later found out it was mocha creme brûlée- menu should indicate that because I wouldn’t have ordered from that menu if I’d known in advance. Got cheesecake instead but really didn’t want that.
So glad we tried the Elkridge Furnace Inn. Our experience was fantastic. Intimate setting. Food, drinks, service—all top notch. Will definitely return.
The live music and food were wonderful!
We often go to the Elkridge Furnace Inn when we want an elegant atmosphere and a delightful dining experience. It is a bit formal, and has retained the historic atmosphere of its past, but we feel comfortable with regular restaurant attire.
The grounds are beautiful, the service is excellent, and the menus are designed around the produce of the region, most o f which is actually grown in the Inn's gardens.
We dined at the Elkridge Furnace Inn for Restaurant Week 2021. The service was excellent and attentive (but not too attentive so we had time to catch up with our friends who dined with us). The setting is beautiful. The food was very tasty. My favorite was the Chef Dan soup (sweet potato, curry, crab=yum!). I also had the filet minon, which was presented with a very tasty sauce. The strawberry shortcake was not my favorite (a little dry) but my hubby let me steal some of his creme brulee which was fantastic! The adult beverages were really nice and the presentation of everything was nice!
A special place for a special occasion or just a lovely meal. Service was great and wonderful to see the owner/chef to take the time and meet with the dinner guests.
Great culinary creations
My daughter's meal was excellent. I had to send my steak back twice, overcooked. The Maitre d' offered to make me another, but I declined. I didn't appreciate his justification for the doneness of the steak as "different restaurants, like Ruth Chris, define 'medium' differently!" I eat at Ruth Chris and the Prime Rib often and they know what medium is!!!!
The server, however, was excellent.
We went to the Saturday Brunch. Food was delicious and all staff were friendly and efficient yet they did not hover. We sat outside in an unexpected comfortable July day. There was noise from passing traffic but it did not impact our two hour brunch. We appreciated not being rushed.
We ordered, got our drinks, and then waited 30 minutes+ until our appetizers arrived. I appreciate that each dish is prepared at the time of ordering but it would have been nice to have something to nibble on while waiting -- rolls, relish tray, something.
My appetizer (the tart) was room temperature, which may have been the proper temperature, but I was too hungry to ask.
The two entrees were terrific -- veal scallopini and coquilles St. Jacques.
The desserts all "looked good." I had their take on English trifle and it was very good.
One last observation: I was asked in the reservation form if this was a special occasion. I said it was a birthday celebration but nothing was done. So why ask? And this may be Open Table's fault.
My wife and an intimate, yet imersive experience. The food, decor, atmosphere and service were extraordinary!! Thank you for an exciting experience!
The food and cocktails were splendid! We are definitley looking for the next time to return!
Very nice historic setting, but it was very cold! AC unit was running nonstop, and I heard others complaining of being cold as well. The food was excellent, and the waiter was awesome.
Celebrating love! Amazing food by outstanding chefs, beautiful gardens, organic farming delivers food to fork to table, welcoming environment, passionate owners, dinied alfresco. ❤❤❤
Service was extremely slow and our entrees were not hot when they arrived at our table. Further, the dishes were not particularly noteworthy in terms of flavor and didn't quite live up to their respective menu descriptions. Overall a disappointing experience.
Mussels were not fresh, lamb chops not cooked at all. Table was shaking but they gave us a different table. Green salad had bad spinach leaves. All roasted vegetables were very good. Steak was very nicely cooked. Drinks were ok but quantity was not good. I think because of Covid they lost the edge but has very good potential. Still service was up to the standard.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. Before kids my wife and I used to come here for discussion occasions. We visited this time with our teenagers and mother-in-law and the place is still fantastic. The atmosphere is great with tables set up in a house. The service is to notch and most importantly... the food is great!
We are never disappointed at Elkridge Furnace Inn and last evening was no exception. The fried oysters were the best I've ever had - plump and very juicy. The rockfish was great and the chocolate blood orange creme brulee was so good! We love this restaurant.
We enjoyed an excellent meal and a memorable experience as we celebrated a birthday.
Had a most wonderful celebratory dinner this evening with the Elkridge furnace Inn. From the moment we were greeted st the door we could sense we were in for a treat. The food was wonderful of course. The service, however, is what makes this place a stop for that special meal. Everyone had just the perfect blend of friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Recommendations were thoughtful and meaningful. Thank you for a lovely evening. We look forward to the next occasion so we may return.
Always a great place for a meal. The staff are professional and nice to talk to. The chef/owner shares stories and history of the restaurant. The place is a must go.
The shrimp and grits were outstanding!! Highly recommend.
Went for Father’s Day, and sat outside on the front porch. Jake was our server and he was exceptional. The meal was amazing, had the ribeye and a special which was prawn with crab and it was just perfect. Highly recommend!!
Father’s Day brunch. It was good but looking forward to the dinner menu in the historic Inn.
It was difficult to understand our waiter, partly because of the mask. The MD was a bit frenzied but he still seated us at a table that fit us better. We had fewer than the reservation even though I mentioned it a day before. We had lovely time. Owner Donna was very welcoming. Lovely talking with her about mirror twins!
We took my parents out to celebrate Dad’s birthday and it was the perfect spot. The Inn is gorgeous and the ambiance is casually elegant - special without being fussy. The Inn has a garden and many of the ingredients are grown in the garden. Three of us had steaks which were fantastic and the lamb was wonderful as well. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable and made great recommendations.
Elkridge Furnace Inn is an excellent place to dine. The service was great, the food was excellent and you were never rushed. Looking forwar to going back again.
Food and service were top notch. Loved dining in "The Tent"... Beautiful "weeding-like" setup with fresh AC and air flowing.
Food was delicious, as always! The staff makes you feel like family and everything is so clean.
We really enjoyed outdoor dining for our Wedding Anniversary. We did not feel rushed and felt well taken care of. Food was great!
