The Good Egg Soho
shakshuka!). The menus here cater very well to both meat eaters + veggie/vegan diners; central to the restaurant's vibrant atmosphere is a huge clay oven + long open kitchen bar, where guests can choose to dine while they enjoy the theatre of the chefs at work, unless they’d prefer a table away from the action. Guests can also eat
al fresco on the terrace – heated + covered Oct-Mar, and open + sunny during the summer months. Stunning seasonal house cocktails, craft beers, natural wines + desserts are on offer here too, making this the perfect pit stop before or after visiting the many theatres or other entertainment spots that lie just a few minutes’ walk away. Enjoy £5 cocktails during their Happy Hour, 4-7pm Mon-Fri, and bottomless brunch every Sun. Great for large groups.
The service, busy or not, is probably the biggest let down at The Good Egg.
Nice food in a lovely location, but the service has a long way to go. From serving a pickled martini without a main ingredient (pickle martini, without pickle juice - ummm, what?!) to bringing a bottle of wine with a cork in.... it's the little (big?) things that create an overall impression. You employ nice people, but they need a proper training.
Had a lovely first visit to the Good Egg in Kingly Court with my sister. The food was delicious.. I would definitely return.
Really lovely restaurant. The staff were very friendly and efficient too.
Amazing food, great prices, lovely atmosphere
Good menu, nice food....but the service was really poor. We had to ask for our drinks 4 times and we’d finished our food before they were eventually given to us!
Love this place so keep returning. Food is great and friendly efficient staff.
Terrible service, food was late, server was not attentive, food was cold, just really crappy all around. The original restaurant in Stoke Newington is so much better!
Some of the tastiest food I’ve had! Friendly service! Pretty decor!
When we got our entrants two were missing, we told the waitress and she didn't even acknowledge it or say sorry I will bring them to you. We waited over 40 min for the bill after asking several times.
Food was delicious but service very poor. We had booked a table which hasn’t been set up when we arrived (restaurant wasn’t particularly busy). Waited a very long time to be served so had to go up and ask someone to actually come over and serve us. Lots of staff but none really seemed to care much about the clients - a shame because the food was lovely
So bad compared to stoke newington. Felt like a chain, different person served us every time we ordered something because they were so understaffed we kept having to grab any member of staff we could see. Three things we ordered were then cancelled because they’d run out. So disappointing
Very bad service
Vegan burger had meat in it, and waiter didn’t care
Asked for gluten free bread and waiter said, it’s lucky dip it might not be gluten free
Amazing food and quick service!
Great menu and yummy food but wasn’t impressed with the service. Got our order wrong, waited for desserts for ages and ended up cancelling it as can’t justify a lunch service lasting over 2h!
Do book a table as the place gets busy. Go and try everything on the menu, just beware of the not so great service :)
Service is quick but unfriendly and the food is okay-ish but nothing to do with the “great experience” advertised on their social. The atmosphere is the same - non-existent. Won’t be back.
Service was very good but the food was a bit lacking, especially compared to the stoke newington branch
Ok but not great. Ordered starters and burgers for mains and they all came at once as the waitress had not told them to do the starters first? Not really acceptable as we had to eat things before they got cold?! Beef reuben sndwich good but challah pretzel roll far too dense and hefty. Animal fries on the cool side and not that great. Just OK
Unfortunately two of the items on the menu I really wanted to try weren’t available that morning. I’ll have to give The Good Egg another try!
I had seen some negative reviews around the service here so I was a bit nervous to go.
We encountered none of those problems. Service was attentive and the food was very nice (if a little salty but that's personal taste).
My only issue was that I found the price of drinks unnecessarily high, We would have stayed for much longer had the prosecco & wine been a bit more reasonable. We were out the evening before in Kensington and the drinks were more competitively priced.
Hey Foodie500, Thanks for taking the time to leave your review of The Good Egg Soho! We're so glad that you enjoyed the food and service during your visit with us. Thanks for your feedback on our drinks - we've passed this on to our team! Thanks, Meg
The food was fantastic but for every item we ordered we had to ask for service and were ignored almost the whole time. I waited 20 minutes before asking to order my tea, then at least 20 minutes wait before asking for every other thing. After asking for the dessert menu, noone came to check if we wanted anything, and we were not checked back on for our mains. I would hesitate before going back unfortunately, as the lack of staff made it feel stressful and like we were in the way, rather than paying customers.

Shockingly poor service - had to ask for drinks, to chase waiter to order food and then told there were no plates - we’d ordered Mezze to share
Plates were found after is made a fuss
Music and ambience way too loud

Food was absolutely delicious and a very interesting menu. Happy hour was an added bonus. Service was great. Bustling atmosphere. Would definitely return.
Hey Dani, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review! We're so glad you enjoyed your visit. Looking forward to seeing you again! Thanks, Meg
This was my 2nd visit. I was slightly embarrassed as I had built up my friends expectations..... We ordered a wine that had a cork, not screw top, it was poured - surerly we should have been given the option to taste it first? Two of our main dishes were cold and had to be sent back - we were asked if we wanted them made again! What a stupid question.
The restaurant is busy and not very well organised. Overall not a great experience.
Hey SheenaF, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave your review. We're so glad you enjoyed your first visit to The Good Egg but sincerely apologise that the service on your second visit let you down and wasn't up to our standards. Please know that we are taking positive actions with the team and we really value your feedback. Many thanks, Meg
Delicious food. Could hardly hear ourselves to talk. They turned the music down on request. But no soft furnishings to absorb sound. Food excellent.
Hey SheliaS, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave your review. We're so glad you enjoyed the food and many thanks for the feedback on the volume of our tunes! Many thanks, Meg
As a family, we are loyal The Good Egg fans but unfortunately this time didn't cut it! In the 12 months, 4 out of 5 times we had to go to Soho just because it is impossible to book/walk in at Stoke Newington. But unfortunately the service at Soho is always lacking! Other than the manager lady, most the waiters are impossible to get attention of! I even had to get up and literally find one to be able to order at one point. We always try to oversee the service as we love the food but this time food wasn't up to scratch either. Everything was lukewarm other than the ZFC Burger, the aubergines were burnt while being fried. To finish it off, our table wasn't cleared for 15 mins and took us ages to pay! (not even mentioning the prices! £100 for 4 people brunch!) Unfortunately we won't be returning to Soho, Stokey? Maybe...
Hey egglover, Many thanks for taking the time to leave your review. Thank you so much for being a family of loyal fans but we're so sorry that the service and food wasn't up to our standard on your last visit to Soho. We've sent you a private message to discuss with you further. Thanks again, Meg
Excellent food and service - toilets disgusting - sort this out and it’s perfect
Lovely brunch to celebrate a birthday. The Jerusalem breakfast was great and great with mimosas!
It was fine. Food was nice and service was okay but wouldn’t come again.
Unfortunately my booking was not recognised but the food was amazing, would def go back
Love the different breakfast offering. The food was so tasty and nice to have an alternative breakfast meal. I think a little bit pricy at £10 for the breakfast as the venue itself is more like a cafe than a restaurant. The tables are bit cafe style which is fine but the pricing should match that.
Hey KatieW, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave your review! We're so glad you enjoyed your food on your visit to The Good Egg. Many thanks for your feedback, Meg
Good food and a nice selection. Nice ambiance and good for a quick-ish dinner (not cosy enough to stay too long). Quick to get served, very polite staff
We went on a wednesday at 1:15pm
wasnt busy at all - a handful of people at most
waited 50mins for our food (egg bagel and a sandwich) and asked the waiter repeatedly where our food was.....by the time it came out an hour had passed and had to end up taking it away as lunch break was order
turns out they forgot to put our order through - not impressed at all considering it was not busy at all inside...sloppy service is not one for the books.
food wasn't amazing either
they did give us the food for free to be fair as a goodwill gesture
sorry good egg, overall you really disappointed us on our first visit there....definitely wont be back :(
Bread for chicken burger was inedible. Chicken burger over cooked. Chips luke warm at best.
The food was good however I was brought the wrong order and the food takes a while to be ready.
Amazing vegan dishes, perfect spot for brunch with friends. The Zoo Fries are to die for ! Will definitely be visiting again.
Hey Veganfoodie, We're so glad you enjoyed our vegan options when you visited (those zoo fries are our faves too!!). We're looking forward to seeing you again soon. Thanks, Meg
We had excellent service and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We were moved to a bigger table when we did not have enough space and were never rushed. A great brunch.
We had a most enjoyable lunch at the Good Egg, the food is very varied, a really interesting menu , the quality of the food was very good. The staff are great always friendly, efficient and helpful. This is a very different place to eat in London, offers a really good occasion for lunch or dinner. I have been there a few times now and always had a great time.
Hey AndrewB, Thanks so much for taking the time to give us your lovely feedback! We hope to see you again soon. Thanks, Meg
I've been to The Good Egg for dinner and enjoyed it but the breakfast is incredibly overpriced for what it is. I had a dish that was 95% potatoes with a little bit of feta and some sliced onions. The description made it sound much more interesting. Ordered a flat bread which was about a 1cm thick burnt crisp for £4.50. Not light, fluffy or with any substance. The staff were nice and they did take it off the bill because I didn't eat it. The food tastes fine it's just nothing special for the price.
Hi CatrionaW, Many thanks for taking the time to leave your review. We're so glad that you've enjoyed visiting us for dinner before, but apologise that you were let down by the food during your breakfast visit. Please know that this is not the standard we hold ourselves to and have taken positive action within the team. Thanks again, Meg
Fabulous food that is most definitely worth the trip - this was our second visit. Essential to book as it gets very busy. Our drink order, a bottle of white wine, was left on the bar so long it was warm by the time it got to the table but that was one team member who may well have been new. Service otherwise was friendly and the food arrived in good time.
Hey RobertS, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave your review of The Good Egg. We're so glad you enjoyed your food on your visit but are so sorry about the wine -nobody wants warm white wine! We hope to see you again! Thanks, Meg
Good was excellent but the portions are quite small for the price. The cocktails weren’t the best but the food really is delicious.
Hey SophiaL, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave your review. we're so glad you enjoyed the food on your visit! And thank you for the feedback on portions and our cocktail menu - we'll pass these comment onto the team. Thanks, Meg
