I keep returning because it is so excellent. An excellent menu with exquisitely cooked food (although very easy to over order) and friendly helpful waiting staff. Our evening was perfection...again!

I’ve heard rave reviews about the ivy, but actually it’s not all it’s all cracked up to be, we booked over a month ago on the open table app, I asked for no salmon in the ( afternoon tea) sandwiches, when we got to order ( even though I thought they looked at the order confirmation) I had to tell them about the sandwiches again which I though was pretty poor for a well established restaurant. Then was asked what we would like to drink we said two cappuccino’s ( I feel we wasn’t getting listened too as two pots of tea arrived) . Then one cappuccino then the other ten minutes later. The food was pretty average to be honest knowing that the ivy is supposed to be prestigious I would say wasn’t what I expected. Also knowing there were bigger tables then ours felt that they were getting more attention ( maybe due to a greater tip being left at the end). The only good things about our visit were the ladies that welcomed us in very polite and chatty and the guy that took our order was very polite. Noticed on the table next to us had a child ( no children menu was bought over that had to ask for it ) I feel the attention to detail isn’t there. So if you said would you come here again my answer would be no feel like a place like this needs to buck its ideas up and not be complacent we it’s popularity ( through certain tv shows) it needs to be more on the ball.

Really quite shocked as this is one of my favourite places to eat. Wait staff were attentive but coffee came cold, poached eggs were hard boiled. Waiter didn’t know the difference between sourdough and whole meal bread. Table too small for four people.

Food was excellent as usual, ambiance perfect but we did wait a long time to be greeted once sat and wait staff seemed overstretched and frazzled. We seemed forgotten at times. It was a busy night and all the wait staff looked hurried, so probably a staffing issue. Food was perfect, though.

The food was outstanding and definitely worth the price. But waiting 20 minutes to be shown to one's table is unacceptable and does kick the evening off on the wrong foot.

Staffs are very busy. So they missed one of my order. Sandwich and scone are good. I am not come for food. I just come for the vibe of the garden. But unfortunately, they didn’t give me a garden seat as my reservation. If you just come for one time. Make sure you have a garden seat. Otherwise, don’t waste your time and money.

It was tempting to give a 1 star rating, but ultimately the food was very good. I'm sure you can guess why I would rate it low, overall. First off, I'd already made a booking for 3pm afternoon tea. We were made to wait almost half an hour, and staff just seemed disinterested or aloof. Why bother with a booking system if you can't even honour it? It was also difficult to get any kind of service. When we were finally shown our table, we were asked straight away if we wanted some water. At least that seemed good... But it took 10 minutes to bring the water. This isn't acceptable for a restaurant/cafe of this stature. I don't expect the water to appear instantly, but 10 mins is ridiculous. We ordered afternoon tea for two, but they brought out only one. Then they realised their mistake, and brought the second one after another 5 minutes. If the service had been any slower, it would've become an evening tea. All in all, it's very hard to recommend this Ivy Cafe if you're looking for an overall great experience. If you only care about good food and you're not bothered by indifferent service, then go ahead. Great food let down by extremely poor service. There are better places to spend almost £80 for two.

So disappointing- we waited 45 minutes for main courses, fish was dense, dry and dull when we finally got it. We have been using Ivy Chelsea Garden since it opened but I’m afraid it’s now off the list. One of your greeters promised to get back to me but so far nothing?!

Food took to long,I needed to ask for the spinach I had ordered. I needed to wait for my table that even wasn't where I asked for when I saw so many tables available. This time I was really disappointed with food and service. I had so many great times there and yesterday was far from it.

Ambiance is amazing, however, food quality is getting bad. The waiter said I can’t order al dente pasta as the kitchen simply can’t do it. I was told all pasta at Ivy would be over-cooked and I should order something else. Shepherds pie was good as usual but it was not hot and the sauce didn’t come until I asked. The service was very slow as the restaurant doesn’t have enough staff. I saw many table waiting to order.

This was the absolute best place to have afternoon tea. The restaurant itself is very pretty and when we asked if we could have a table in the garden they gave as a corner table on the terrace which was truly beautiful with plush velvet cushions and plants and flowers surrounding. The afternoon tea itself was lovely, very tasty and very filling. We were served by a young Italian waiter and he was so obliging and he made the visit even better. We will definitely be going back probably around my birthday on 22nd July.

We booked a 4.30 table and weren’t served our main until 6.15, terrible service, our waitress didn’t check on us once. We asked 2 managers to refill our drinks. We were there for my partners birthday and the slowness and attitude (zero smiles or attentiveness) of our waitress really soured what should have been a lovely afternoon. So disappointed plus we live 2 hours from london so this was a big treat. A smile and an apology would have gone a long way.

Gorgeous spot for an outside meal, the garden has been really well thought out - we had afternoon tea which was really delicious. Sandwiches were tasty and the cakes weren't too much, it was a great selection for a lovely afternoon. My only reason for rating service 4/5 (which was otherwise delightful) was the additional charge for a second set of sandwiches which wasn't mentioned - felt this was a bit unnecessary but it was promptly taken off when the bill arrived and the team were very accommodating. All in all, really recommend for a lovely place to have a meal

We were really excited for our Sunday lunch at Ivy, we arrived early to our booking and the first encounter was with a quite rude receptionist who told us to wait for our table as we were "slightly late" (??) I tried to explain that, to the contrary, we were early but it seemed we didn't understand each other. We were waiting to be seated for nearly 30min until we spoke with another staff who apologized and guide us to our table in few minutes. Our waiter was lovely but the wait for the food was far too long. Overall the place is really nice decorated and the atmosphere is nice. Food it wasn't outstanding and pricey for what it was. We don't think we will be back.
