The Ivy Soho Brasserie
Decorated with artworks inspired by Soho’s music scene, as well as William Blake (Broadwick’s most famous resident), the space is made up of a restaurant, bar, private dining room and terrace with Parisian-style seating. Open seven days a week, the modern British menu will be available from dawn till dusk for local workers, residents, shoppers and visitors to enjoy. Being located in Soho, the brasserie will have a DJ spinning music every Friday and Saturday from 7pm and on weekends during brunch until close.
The Ivy Soho Brasserie’s look and feel has been created by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio and notable features include an onyx bar, bronze pendant lighting, marble floor tiles, polished parquet and a mixture of burnt orange leather and velvet banquettes and bar stools.
Really lovely meal. The food was delicious and portion sizes were very generous. I rang the restaurant the day before our booking to ensure there was wheelchair access for my Grandma and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. The service was excellent and the staff did all they could to ensure we were comfortable and had a lovely time.
Usually great service but quite shoddy last night. Drinks forgotten. When chased more than ordered arrive. Coffees cold. Food was great and arrived together at least. Ambiance was weird. Arrived 5.30 and placed next to tables with young children. Which happens but not ideal. By 7pm music so loud we'd gone from creche to nightclub in less that 2 hours.
Booked a table for 12 which wasn't ready when we arrived so we were shown to the bar for a drink. Ordered drinks which took 20 mins to arrive. Had to ask how long our table would be and were finally shown to it at 12:30. Service was slow throughout, drinks orders repeatedly forgotten, food took ~45 mins to arrive etc. Our initial drinks order was taken off the bill, but only after we complained about such slow service. This is the second time I've been to the Soho Brasserie, and the second time the table hasn't been ready, service slow (especially at the bar where drinks take forever to arrive), no communication from staff (despite there being plenty of people serving) etc. Food was good, but wouldn't come again due to poor service.
Food good as always, service was good but our waiters uniform was really scruffy and his jacket was ripped and had holes in.
One moan that staff use the disabled/baby change toilet so a long wait to change the baby.
Having dined at The Ivy in Soho multiple times, it’s usually a solid option for dinner with friends. Things have changed, though!
Friday evening was a horrible experience.
While the food and drinks are as reliable as ever, it’s worth noting for any Friday evening:
Clientele: Our first table was between 2 annoying groups. On the left, a loud, drunken birthday party complete with cake, sparklers and a strong rendition of Happy Birthday to You! On our right, a couple of Instagram-obsessed women. Flash photography all around, everyone was on their phone and we two couples felt trapped in between. The Hostess was nice enough to move us when I asked if they had another, more grown-up table anywhere in the restaurant. She has my compliments for taking swift action.
Noise: Between the DJ and people screaming at each other to be heard above the music, it was impossible to hold a conversation. It was loud! I appreciate it was Friday night in Soho (which was the formulaic response from every staff member), but it was only 9:00 and The Ivy is a full service restaurant, not a nightclub. It was so loud that most diners were sitting around looking miserable in silence. It wasn’t possible to chat with dinner companions.
Service: Always solid, after the Instagramers and the Birthday Celebration, the waiter spilled my main upon serving. That poached egg rolled right across the table! Embarrassed, he rushed away and came back with spoons to retrieve it then offered it to me or asked if I preferred a “fresh” one. Accidents happen but, yes, I will inconvenience you for a fresh egg. Empty water glasses and the decibel level just made this point in the evening feel absurd even though it wasn’t a big deal.
It wasn’t a great choice and we won’t return. Perhaps we aren’t the sort of Friday night diners they want... I don’t think of myself as an old stick in the mud, but certainly felt like it on Friday!
A bit overpriced for what it is to be honest but that was not unexpected. The beer selection is inadequate in the sense that every option seemed to be 330ml priced at a level more appropriate to a bigger volume. The main was good and the dessert was incredible.
Attentive service and delightful decor. A truly great way to start the weekend.
First time to this restaurant and it did not disappoint. From attentive staff to excellent food everything was fabulous. We had a table booked for 5pm for a pre-theatre meal and although quiet when we arrived it was very lively when we left at 7pm.
Friendly welcome. Service a tad slow and steak was severely overcooked (ordered medium rare and it was served well done and was not especially hot - maybe given someone else’s? Short of time and couldn’t face sending it back) but the rest of the meal was fine. Dessert was stunning
Service was impeccable :) I had an issue with my dessert and this was rectified promptly by the waiting staff. Will definitely recommend.
Lively atmosphere and vibe .Great having round tables. The Ivy have got it right.
Great night out , lovely atmosphere . Good food .
Had a lovely meal and the staff were lovely. We had what we wanted to eat and found that the prices were fairly reasonable for London. The waiter we had could not have been more helpful but sadly I do not remember his name.
as a regular at The Ivy (various sites) I was very disappointed in our meal at The Ivy Soho. We were early for our table and we were asked to sit at bar. (this is impossible for me as the chairs are difficult for me to sit on). We were then "abandoned". When a table was ready it was obvious that we did not have dedicated staff. We shared the Zuccini and before we had all finished our main course arrived and they proceeded to serve. My minute steak was delicious and hot but the others all mentioned that their food was only luke warm. We had a long wait before dessert. Shame, disppointed on this occasion .
Lovely atmosphere, food and great value for money!
Ok had better experience
Great place if you want pounding music (in house DJ) average food and hip ambience. More a club than a restaurant.
This visit was not as good as previous. Table want available for 15 mins, then main course took a long time to be delivered (1905 for a 1730 table). We had theatre tickets so had to rush mains and bottle of wine in 10 mins despite chasing the waiter twice after the starter.
Lobster linguine very nice but not as tasty as first visit.
Fantastic food and drink as a pre theatre meal
We booked a table following a theatre visit and I misjudged the timings. One phone call and the front of house team pushed my booking on by half an hour!! Greatly appreciated indeed.
I lovely the Ivy cafes but this is the first time I have been to the Soho one.
Unfortunately it was not what I call a great experience. The service was slow. We waited a very long time between courses. My vegetables where cold when it did arrive and the wine arrived after I had finished my meal. I ask for wipes for my hand and was bought a wet serviette on a plate. It was a special occasion so I did not want to creat an atmosphere therefore did not say anything. Then a DJ cane on around 7ish and it was so loud it was impossible to speak. Not a good experience sadly.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food and drinks were lovely. I am wheat and dairy intolerant and they were very good assisting to my needs.
Amazing food everytime. The truffle arancini is what has us coming back.
Overall fantastic venue. Great atmosphere. Phenomenal service. Delicious food. Only criticism is the amount of fish on the menu. Very limited menu if you don't eat fish (like us!) However what we did have was perfect.
Love this place, The Ivy Soho. Couldn’t fault the wonderful lunch that I organised for my husband’s birthday with a couple of friends. The service from the moment we walked in to the moment we left, it has been amazing! Great friendly service , wonderful food and cocktails too! Can’t wait to return again
Had a very warm welcome at reception area.
Great busy busy atmosphere decor was fab!!
Fantastic service, steak delicious, spinach & pine nuts very tasty!!
Had another drink at the bar after our meal... great craft beer.
Really enjoyed our afternoon, would definitely return & would like to add reasonable price points all around.
Staff were friendly & professional....
Cheers to the chef!
Food pricey for what you get. Dessert prices astronomical-out of a table of 11 no one had one, which is not like our group at all. Staff were very pleasant and friendly.
Very comfortable seats . Something for everyone in terms of food . Always reliable
Always love to come here even if it's just for drinks with friends or to have a meal 💕
My mother and I enjoyed dining at the Ivy. We started with a espresso martini at the bar which was excellent followed by our meal which we both thoroughly enjoyed. We were not rushed at all and were allowed to enjoy the ambience and relax whilst eating. We would definitely return.
I have been going to the Ivy chain of restaurants for years .... now is changed hands and now is the Ivy chain .. my favourite dish the fish cakes are now all mash and very little fish .. although presentation is excellent... the Chalis by the glass used to be good now is they have changed for a very cheap version of Chalis which I'd dreadful and at a 175ml at 11.95 a glass is not cheap ...also a medium glass should be a 175m but now the Ivy collection restaurants sell a 125ml as a medium glass but still charge for a medium....
Everything was good!
Pre theatre dining
Good food. Good service but far too loud. Difficult to hear and have a conversation.
Tina is fantastic host
A last minute booking with friends for a nice meal. Great experience. Lovely surroundings and good food.
I must admit I much prefer this than the Ivy Market Grill in Covent Garden, much better atmosphere and service without being rushed. The waiter was very helpful. Will definitely book again
The minute steak was not cooked well at all with a gamey flavour.
Nice restaurant with very good service. Food was good, although the fish and chips were r rather greasy. Background music not really suitable (club style with a heavy drum beat), something more mellow would be better. .
As always great food and very pleasant atmosphere in lovely surroundings, but absolutely appalling service again on this visit.
I mentioned to our waiter the moment that we were seated that it was a pre-theatre dinner and that we had to leave at a certain time but this seemed to have no effect. I had to attract the attention of another waiter to say that we were ready to order as we had sat for 15mins with the menus closed on the table. Having waited another 15-20 mins after finishing our main course with the plates on the table I then asked to see the manager and after a conversation about how slow the service was, the table was soon cleared. Having then ordered our desserts and hot drinks, the hot drinks arrived quickly but we had to summon the manger again as we had finished them at least 10 minutes before the desserts finally arrived. Needless to say we were then in a rush to pay and get to the performance....
Our waiter appeared to be 'busy doing nothing' and spent most of the time we were there with his back to the diners looking at a screen rather than the tables he was waiting. He only approached the table when asked either by his colleague or by the manager (twice).
Admittedly the manager did apologise and deduct the drinks from our bill which was very welcome but left the service charge on, when actually that was what was at fault.
I would think twice about a pre-theatre dinner at The Ivy next time as I did not get the impression they could cope with any time pressures whatsoever and so many West End restaurants are better geared up for this type of trade.
This is my third visit to an Ivy in as many months and every time it has been the service that has been a huge disappointment. It has tainted an otherwise good experience and has been far meeting my expectations in terms of service, as well as what I would expect from your establishment and brand.
