   Went for a belated Mother's Day outing and was amazed by the selection of sandwiches, scones and deserts on offer for the Afternoin Tea. The staff couldn't have been more attentive. Constantly checking in and topping up tea. Would definitely recommend for others to go not just for an occasion but for a lovely afternoon!

   Absolutely wonderful little find in the heart of Manchester! A wonderfully elegant Champagne Bar. Went for a birthday treat with a friend and spent a lovely 5 hours with an afternoon tea which turned into a few drinks after. Super attentive and helpful staff. Food was absolutely delicious and able to cater superbly for coeliacs without any problem or negotiation on menu and choice. Staff produced a little birthday treat which was so appreciated and extremely thoughtful. Definitely a place to visit for pre theatre drinks, an afternoon tea or a simple afternoon and evening with friends. It’s definitely on my list of places to visit again.

   Food was fantastic, service was very good apart from clearing the table and wiping with wet cloth then setting up for next customers while we were sat drinking tea.. waitress very friendly. Room could do with a bit of a makeover, net curtains hanging off and staff smoking outside the window.. would go again

    Really lovely atmosphere, quiet and peaceful. The staff were very accomodating, preparing a vegetarian afternoon tea for me and even bringing me soy milk. I was too full by the end to finish all the cakes, and they were kindly boxed up for me to take home. Perhaps a slight improvement could be made by offering guests a menu of different teas and coffees, since I feel for the price it's nice to have options rather than plain old English breakfast (but I didn't ask for other types of tea, so maybe this would've been possible on request). In my opinion, it is a more relaxed and casual atmosphere than afternoon at other places (for example the Midland), which was quite nice as a change. I would definitely go back, but I would describe this as an "every day" afternoon tea, perfect if you want an alternative to a regular lunch.

    The afternoon tea service was attentive, the staff were polite and helpful, and we thoroughly enjoyed the modern and relaxed atmosphere of the hotel. The presentation and quality of the finger sandwiches and cakes was very good. We perhaps would have preferred an extra finger sandwich and fewer sweet items, but overall we had a wonderful afternoon and would go again.

    The food was late. We had our tea at least 30 mins before the food arrived. The scones were completely inedible. It seemed they had been reheated over and over. The staff brought us fresh ones which were better. The sandwiches were poor with too many strange flavour combination. I've never heard of a pesto sandwich. They would have ben better off with traditional fillings on plan bread,

    Was a lively afternoon but perhaps to be expected at Xmas party time. Unfortunately got moved from the library to the main bar area at the hotel due to a group booking. Quality of service and food was still pretty good, however for the cost, you would expect real clotted cream instead of whipped!

    We chose this venue as we had enjoyed afternoon in the Library the year before and enjoyed it. We were called by the hotel late in the evening the day before we were due to travel to Manchester to let us know the Library would be closed and we would have our afternoon tea in a different room. Knowing that last year we spent over £200 on afternoon tea and cocktails and that we had booked a bedroom for £300 we suddenly found ourselves paying over £500 for an experience we weren't going to get and as it was so late and we had travel booked there was nothing we could do. When we got the venue we were shown to our table which was tiny and had a stool and backless sofa instead of proper chairs and so squeezed in between 2 other tables we were practically sat on the two couples either side of us. The venue did move us to a better table when we complained. At 5pm we were asked to move from the table (even though we were still ordering drinks) and as the rest of the bar was so busy, there was no where else to sit. The food was fine but we were left very disappointed with many aspects of the afternoon. The final straw was that the bedroom we were put in was directly above a room that had a party going onto 1am with music blaring through the floor so we had to go down to reception in our PJs as we could not sleep and ended up been moved to another bedroom - so a very expensive weekend for something that left us very underwhelmed.

    21st birthday celebration for a sandwich fan so we were in our element. Extremely tasty. Loved being able to flick through some sumptuously designed books whilst sipping earl grey, and marvelling at the delicacy of the cakes. Only just managed to clear the stand!

    There were 2 men slouched on sofas with their phones on watching a noisy sport event. Although the staff passed them they didn’t challenge them. I eventually challenged one of the men and he turned it off. This did spoil the occasion and therefore we thought the ambience was poor. Also it says in tge website that customers should wear smart casual attire,we therefore dressed accordingly. Without exception everyone was wearing jeans,shorts and trainers, which your website states are not acceptable. Again this ruined the ambience. We preferred the place that you originally had the afternoon teas in. The Library is simply a modern bar with no atmosphere.

    We had afternoon tea and the food was exquisite. Service, however, left much to be desired. The person serving was kind and polite, but was alone behind the bar thus covering both the bar and the tables. The tea could have come with a top up of hot water, but there was nobody available to check if everything was in order or if we needed anything else. The jam, although fantastic, was served in a very small portion considering there were 4 scones between two people. Finally, we weren’t given the bill to see (just the amount typed into the card machine) but judging by the uplift on the price of the afternoon tea itself (£28pp), a gratuity fee of some 10% was already included in the final bill. While I wouldn’t normally mind, this time there was very little service and we felt that the gratuity charge was unfair for the “service” provided.

    Overall a good experience with lovely surroundings. Food items were of high quality. Service was slow, not offered anything whilst I was waiting for others to arrive initially, then asked for bubbly and water at separate times and very slow/had to ask again. For the price, I would expect quicker and more reliable service. 12.5% service charge already added to bill which including charges for said drinks which were very delayed. Did not feel this large a tip was justified but as it was already added I did not want to quibble it in front of my guests.

    It was easy to book and everything went well with attentive but not over the top staff. The afternoon tea was to celebrate both my wife’s and daughters birthday’s, the fact the staff mentioned it and provided the little extras on a happy birthday plate was a nice touch.     A very solid standard and food and ingredients but this is left wanting by somewhat distant service. The staff were incredibly talkative and polite when attending but with no check back and no one coming to clear our table we were left to our devices a little bit too much. The atmosphere was nice although quiet which is nothing to do with the restaurant and I wouldn’t hold it against them Overall we’d rate our experience a 3.4/4. Good food at a reasonable price considering quality but service was slightly off

    We would have preferred to sit at a table rather than on a settee as more comfortable for eating. Also would prefer more sandwiches to cakes than was served but I presume we could have requested this prior to arrival. It didn't spoil our experience though.
