We both loved our dinner and apps! The steak tartar, Brussels sprouts and squash rings were outstanding and we loved the lobster pasta and the ravioli with that lemon zest! Highly recommended! What a great date night!
Had maple salmon with Brussels sprits special spinach and faro. Not a hint of maple syrup Damon very ordinary quite dull There were 6 Brussels sprout leaves. Special spinach was leathery should have been labeled as kale. Thera are no adult deserts available. Service very good ambiance wonderful. We have visited many times Very disappointing each time but 1 block from our apt so convenient in cold weather
My father and I grabbed dinner while he was in town for business. He wanted to stay away from the restaurants participating in Restaurant Week, and he was so pleased with The Love. Everything was delicious, and the service was incredible. As a Philadelphia resident, I will be back and will continue to introduce my visitors to this impeccable restaurant.
Third visit here in less then three weeks
First two were very memorable, this one not so much ,service was not as good as first two visits, we felt rushed at the end of dinner
Food was delicious.
The food was wonderful! The service was excellent! Drinks were really good! All in all - a great dining experience and I will go back for a second visit
Living in Philly, I have the opportunity to dine anywhere and everywhere. The Love sets itself apart from the others with it's creative and delicious cuisine and top service while in a comfortable, unique atmosphere. I like to take clients to The Love. The name just says it and the clients can tell I've taken them to a special place to celebrate our partnership and show my gratitude.
I wish the bar was a bit larger and that the upstairs bar was open during the week for us locals. :) My husband and I like to pop into places for dinner without reservations and spots with bars where we can enjoy the energy and great food is always a plus.
Food is very good. Very loud, difficult to talk. Service was excellent.
Birthday - server was kind enough to provide a happy birthday dessert plate.
Great food- bartender was aloof and seemed bothered by us. Bad start to the night but the food was very well done.
Excellent food and wine, wonderful server.
Waiter was amazing and went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect. Food was delicious. Perfect post surprise engagement dinner! Absolutely perfect! We will be back for sure!
The atmosphere and food was wonderful. Our server was a bit pompous, he could have afforded to be more friendly and smile. However, everything else made up for it.
The price was high for what we ordered and the meal was not spectacular. Two drinks at brunch, were $31 and two egg dishes were $40. Biscuits were an additional $5.00 and there was no bacon or sausage. I thought nearly $100 for brunch (including tip), was expensive for an uninspired meal.
Great meal. Made us feel special on our anniversary. Will definitely go back.
This was our second visit to The Love. Each time that we have been there the food, and service has been exceptional.
Server was great! Maybe her name was Veronica? Food, service, speed, cleanliness all solid. Just wish it was warmer, but it was a cold day.
This review was after my first visit to The Love & will not be my last! The staff were very friendly. We were promptly seated & each item ordered was fantastic! We took our time and never felt rushed. The atmosphere was relaxing and cozy. I’ve already made my next reservation! You should make yours!
Great looking space. Comfortable fine dining. Friendly service. I ordered the fig Caesar salad. There are not pieces of fresh figs. Instead the fig is smashed up to make the Caesar dressing with anchovies. The dressing was good but it was disappointing that there weren’t cut pieces of figs - that would have been better. Plus the dandelion greens were not cut up. The other lettuce greens were easy to cut but not the dandelion greens in my opinion.
Husband ordered the smoked branzino. He did not think it was all that good. I enjoyed my scallops.
The restaurant was very noisy. It was difficult to talk without having to shout. We were seated a four seat table, which was nice but we sat across from each other which made it difficult to talk. It would have been nice to sit at one of the corner booth tables.
Visited from out of town
Love The Love! My SO and I were seated in a cozy corner booth, great for food sharing and general cannodling. They were able to accommodate our Celiac (both of us have it) and the food was superb! The hot buttered popcorn ice cream dessert was DIVINE
Wonderful food and perfectly handled my dietary needs. Adorable server!
Great service, pretty much everything was just a shade under seasoned.
A casual night out with friends, from beginning to end th food was outstanding
We absolutely loved "The Love". We ordered the Parker house rolls, butternut squash soup, short rib stroganoff and fried chicken entrees! Every dish was beautifully presented and extremely tasty! I had read reviews about the service; as a foodie I've frequented the best eateries throughout our city as well as many other cities and the service at The Love was perfection! We'll be back soon!
We went to the Love for lunch and it was very enjoyable. The menu was filled with very interesting options, along with good drink choices. We were happy with our choices, and found the hush puppies and the raviolis to be highlights. The drinks were good and my wife enjoyed the madeleine smores for dessert. We would be happy to eat here again.
Cute little spot in Rittenhouse with very attentive staff with attention to detail. Also shows in the food. Everything was delish!
Great spot ! Never disappointed.. Food has excellent flavors.. great menu. Highly recommend
Celebrated my mother’s 80th birthday here and all was great. Portions were much larger than expected. Environment was cozy and warm.
We had the crispy duck salad, lobster spaghetti and ribs - everything was outstanding! Highly recommend The Love.
Great food and wonderful staff! We had the burger, waffle, and posh breakfast and everything was amazing!
This was our first time at The Love but not the last! Our dining experience here was one of the best! Our server Caitlin, was pleasant and extremely knowledgeable. All of the food was exceptional. The cheeseboard, farm salad and squash soup were all outstanding as well as beautifully presented. Our entrees included the smoked branzino, served whole, and was a masterpiece. The fried chicken was like nothing you’ve ever had. Light with wonderful flavors. We received complimentary sampling’s of the lobster spaghetti and braised veal fazzoletti are a must. I would recommend sharing them especially the veal. The flavors were exceptional. Our sides of toasted broccoli and fried Brussels sprouts complimented the dishes and we finished it off with a generous la colombe love latte and dirt sundae.
You will not be disappointed. Thank you everyone for The Love! Hope to see you soon!
Best food we have had in a long time! Have recommended to so many people :)
Amy Oxley has done it one more time---great food, interesting ambience, friendly & professional service, wine list. A great spot for a twosome or small groups to just enjoy an excellent dining experience.
This was my last Stephen Starr to visit in Philly and I can say it is my least favorite. Our table wasn’t ready and we had to wait 20 minutes for one. We moved to the bar and ordered three drinks that took longer than expected. The bartender asked what we wanted. The overall service was “ok” nothing to remember. I ordered a drink that never came, I pointed that out to the server who said I could pick any dessert drink on the house, that never happened. The food was average flavor wise. The restaurant was really loud! We tried the scallops and the fried chicken and I can honestly say I’ve had better. My scallops were lukewarm and the vegetables were cold. The brussel sprouts were amazing, I’m happy I got them. That was the most enjoyable thing. I think a three star rating is fair for the overall experience, service and food quality. Won’t be back or bring anyone there, I rather go to another Starr restaurant.
We wanted to try this new hot spot in Philly for date night. We thought the seating was really tight, but we were in the main aisle. From our seat we could see six wait stations. Our drinks were wonderful, the food was fairly good, and prices were reasonable. It's good, but no the best Philly has to offer.
We had the cheese tasting plate -- eight local cheeses, a printed list of the cheeses (so we can look for them in stores), condiments and croutons -- it was generous and outstanding. Three of us ate from it happily as an appetizer. My son had the salmon poke, which looked gorgeous and tasted better.
I had whole smoked branzino, which was completely delicious and unusual, and a Sazerac cocktail that was perfect with it.
My husband had spaghetti with lobster. He thought the portion was small, until he actually ate it and was perfectly full.
Our server was charming, and we were in and out of the restaurant in an hour and a quarter, in time to go to the theater at Plays and Players.
At lunch with friends in October I had the veggie crudite appetizer, which was also beautiful and ample ...
A bit expensive, but overall a great experience! Terrific service, great drinks, lovely environment.
