Food was delicious, beautifully cooked, and attractively presented.
The food was amazing-very well presented and full of flavour. The staff were lovely, polite and friendly
My daughter and I really enjoyed our meals and would highly recommend this restaurant
Thank you everyone for making our evening wonderful
The food was very good but the lighting in the restaurant was too bright which didn’t help with the ambience.
It really needs some attention. More subdued lighting definitely needed in my opinion.
Restaurant almost empty, table wobbled needed wedge had to ask several times,
Young waitresses inexperienced but friendly and helpful, not their fault.
Liver almost raw sea bream cremated and very small portion , food tepid soup (pea soup) very boring
All in all not a good experience
We were staying at hotel and ate in on our first night. Small choice on menu but food excellent although a little pricey. Fish and chips plus calves liver were chosen. All staff very pleasant and helpful. Background music was a radio programme which we thought a little odd. DJ's voice between tracks was irritating!
What a lovely weekend great food, such a nice venue
We had a great meal, at a great price. Very enjoyable.
We’ve eaten here before and it was the normal high standard we expect.
Booked a table for my sons' birthday. Unfortunately one of our party could not make it, but lucky for us the Restaurant was very quiet so the chef kindly prepared a takeaway dish for us. The boys deserts both came out with "Happy Birthday" beautifully written in icing on their plates. Always good food and service at the Moonraker. Will visit again.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Our dog too had a wonderful time she was very welcome and catered for.
Staff were patient, polite and helpful.
Looking forward to the next time we can visit.
Beautifully presented , good food
Attentive staff , best calves liver my wife has eaten.
Amazing food with great service as always. I highly recommended this venue. The rooms are beautiful, the staff very friendly and helpful and the food is 10/10!!
Still lovely food at The Moonraker. Limited menu but has a variety to suit most tastes. Service is very good and appropriate COVID safety measures appear to be in place.
Unfortunately I think we stayed at the wrong time as they had their first wedding on . Staff were lovely and friendly however they were under pressure as lack of staff, food was bland and the steak wasn’t great it wasn’t browned off too it was rubbery. The pork starter was tasteless and the pork main was also bland. Chocolate pudding was lovely however the sticky toffee pudding was too dense and flavourless. Such a shame but perhaps we were just unlucky as I know some of the waiters were helping in the kitchen which might have explained why.
The leek and potato soup was a good starter, followed by pork shoulder with tasty lentils and then crème brûlée with fresh raspberries...a delicious combination. The helpings were just right, not too much and well presented.
The milking parlour is a very relaxed venue with an authentic rustic atmosphere although I gather the beams and fireplace were not original but it all works really well.
Staff were very helpful, friendly and well informed on the history of the Moonraker.
Altogether an excellent evening.
We booked this for a quiet meal for my father-in-law's 90th birthday, just for four as Covid 19 had scuppered any big celebrations. Anyway, I cannot fault the food in any way, the menu was a mixture of pub favourites and some more special dishes which we leapt at. The star was our main course which we all went for, the slow roast pork shoulder on puy lentils with kale and crackling was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. I commented to our server how refreshing it was not to have a plate loaded with potato, and he agreed. Though some diners ask for some mash on the side, which in my opinion is not needed at all. Both starter and desert were also excellent and I particularly liked the 'wine of the month' suggestion, a medium bodied Rioja which went so well with the pork shoulder. Covid safety measures were observed but not obtrusive. The ambience could be improved with a better background music choice which seemed to be BBC radio 2, but that is just a small gripe. The only fly in the soup was that it took way too long to get the bill. After 20 minutes I resorted to putting on our coats, waving my arms and loudly saying 'BILL PLEASE!' which broke the already fragile ambience. Overall though, I would return, the great food does override all that.
The room is a bit Spartan, the food was generally quite good, the fish particularly bit the gnocchi was awful, more like a snack
The evening meal was Delius, the room was ok, burn marks and stains in a few places on the carpets.
Breakfast offering was average; continental breakfast of an apple, very small croissant, a blueberry muffin, Alpen bar & concentrated orange, for my Husband.
I rang ahead and explained about my diabetes, and allergies, my offering; concentrated orange with high sugar, 2 grapefruit, 2 apples & orange. ( If all fruit eaten would have needed a loo frequently!) one apple was bad, as was the orange, so I ate, 1 grapefruit and a cup of tea, hardly satisfactory for the price overall.
Would have liked a natural yogurt, but not offered, neither were any cereals gluten free.
Will not recommend. If under the current conditions I feel a better offer, given thought, could be offered.
Visited during the Eat Out To Help Out (COVID recovery) scheme. Didn't expect The Moonraker to be offering the £10 per head discount, so was surprised when the bill arrived complete with £40 reduction. Very limited menu on offer - no starters and small choice of options for mains and desserts, but all four of us had different mains and were all pleased with our choices. The vegetarian curry was lovely and tasty, but was too dry with very little sauce - this was the only disappointment. Service was good. Will definitely return - especially if you BRING BACK THE FIVE COURSE TASTER MENU ... PLEASE !
The food was great and the staff were friendly. They could do with sorting out the lighting as the bright lights don't help the ambience.
First experience eating out during Covid. Felt safe, food and service good.
Food was tasty and in generous portions. The service was excellent. We had a lovely evening and will go back.
