Pub
The Nag's Head is a quintessential English pub in a village called Haughton Moss, near Tarporley in rural Cheshire. It has been re-mixed and re-imagined by the people behind the multi-award winning Altrincham Market; Mackie Mayor, Manchester and Picturedrome, Macclesfield.

The Nag's Head is a listed building that dates back to its origin as a Smithy in the 1740's, on the trade route connecting the ports of Liverpool and North Wales to the Potteries.

At The Nag's Head sister venues we have earned a reputation for high quality food, delivered in beautiful buildings, served informally. The point? - to make eating out with family, with friends, with kids with dogs accessible, rewarding and part of your 'everyday'.

Led by Tender Cow, the kitchens from Alty, Mackie and Picturedrome are an integral part of food at The Nag's Head. Expect seasonal changes, kitchen co-labs with our sister venues, glamping, growing and outdoorsy stuff on our adjoining 4 acres in the not-too-distant future.

Second visit of the month as we just love it. Was much busier this time around which gave a really nice atmosphere. Staff super friendly and attentive once again. Lovely food, great portion sizes. Wine pairing was spot on too.

Gorgeous as always! We love the food, the locally sourced ingredients, and the staff are always brilliant, which sadly isn’t always the case these days! You just know at the nags head you will get good food AND service!!

We visited as we’d seen the pub featured on TV, and it’s not too far away. Lovely meal with great service. Food was exceptional and innovative. We’ll be back I’m sure.

Not your usual Brakes Brothers pub grub. Properly cooked and inventive dishes for those wanting interesting taste and well cooked standards for the less adventurous. Not cheap but one has to pay for good food

Incredible food. Beautiful surroundings. Great atmosphere. If you’re bored of typical ‘gastro-pubs’, go to The Nags Head.

Really gutted to be writing this as I've been saying for so long about coming here and built it up to the in-laws as well. Came for mothers day. Appreciate this makes things extra busy. Unfortunately it was close to 1.5hrs before we got our mains, and this was only after flagging it up with someone, otherwise I don't think the staff had realised. When we did get our food (sunday roasts all round), everything was great apart from the potatoes, which were still needing to be cooked. Really disappointed, hoping it was a one-off, the staff were so polite, can't fault the team there on that basis. I do think our order perhaps got lost on what was a very busy sunday afternoon. Will be visiting again, and hopefully it will be great!

Pub is lovely and the atmosphere good. Seating area was a little cold to begin with. Food choices are minimal, and can't be cooked to individual preferences. Pricing is on the high side.

We really enjoed our meal at the Nags Head but if there was one thing that we would like to mention it was that there was only one choice of dessert for my daughter who is gluten intolerant.

Food was a real treat - the duck was so good and the beignets especially. Felt like something was amiss front of house though. Entrance poorly lit, long wait for drinks order, and then food. Mishap with what we asked for with the wine volume, and with order of mains but quickly rectified. Hoping service would normally be better as food was worth going for!

Both good and drink are of a high quality and stand out locally. The restaurant does struggle with being too cold. Our waitress tended towards being too informal which I assume is intended to be friendly but in the end comes off as over familiar and blunt.

Not great. Service slow and poor and food not as good as it was. I felt pressured to give feedback as to how they can improve not down to the customer to give business advice. We only went in to eat and knowing it wasn't great they still charged us for a discretionary tip! went home having paid over £54 for a pie and mash and didn't enjoy it at all! There's better restaurants to chose from now.

The building and decor is outstanding great bar area. Good selection of beers, but the ‘Menu’ was very poor indeed….this needs a complete revamp….no background music either, so the place lacked atmosphere….the pis was very nice and the burger was good….Helles beer excellent…

Sunday lunch. Nobody’s meal was outstanding - we’ve been a couple of times before and it was much better. Mine was barely warm. Would have returned it except we were with friends and couldn’t be bothered with the faff! Staff are lovely and friendly and it’s a great atmosphere at a busy lunch time. Just need to keep up meal standards as it’s not the cheapest place and is very much a ‘destination’. Will definitely return though - but maybe not to eat!

We have been going to this pub/restaurant since the re opening, I was a massive fan, but lately its menu is so limited, stu had a steak £28 that came out on a plate that's it, veg extra £5 per item, new potatoes £5, cheese board 5 items £13 quantity none existent, one of the pieces looked to have teeth marks in it, the owners are from maccelsfield totally different market, I now believe they have wasted there investment, we will not be going again, service charge £16 put on the bill, total bill £186 for 4 people, need to have a re think on menu before ite to late

We went to the Burns Night supper. What an amazing night! This place is very popular and everything a good pub should be. The menu was fantastic, meat and veggie options equally well thought out. Really good live music, attentive staff and cosy roaring fires made for a great atmosphere and perfect night out. We’ll be back time and again.

Great value high quality interesting food in a warm & inviting atmosphere. On this occasio we enjoyed a busy Saturday night service with plenty of staff on patrol keeping an eye out and many check backs for your enjoyment throughout the meal. Started with delightful crispy outer soft Cheese & Mustard centred Beignet nibbles. The best Fishcake starter i have had for many a year, Smoked Salmon & Brown Shrimp, small crushed & creamed potato, oozing with the brown shrimps, very well made and seasoned, on a bed of herb emulsion..1st class! Slow cooked Short Ribs on a bed of soft Polenta and rich beef sauce, could be eaten with a spoon, unctuous tastes of its slow cooking prep. Main of Duck breast presented sliced in half, perfectly rendered crispy skin, well rested & served pink, your knife did not have to fight! Plated with an outstanding Potato Terrine finished in Beef Marrow fat.. then topped with Duck leg Ragu..mmm! Roasted Hispi Cabbage and a perfect red wine duck reduction, the whole plate held such precise en point cooking with so much flavour. Well done chef. Off thier pub classics menu Cheese & Caramelised Onion Pie, the pastry was perfect, oozing with cheesy onion mixture, side of very well made chips, tasty chutney & Cavolo Nero Cabbage, again all perfectly cooked. We were recommended to have the Rhubarb Desert, it didn't disappoint, a picture on a plate, vibrant poached pink Rhubarb segments among Vanilla Pannecotta domes, Vanilla Gel, Pistachio cream, roasted Pistachio nuts & Pistachio Tuille & crumbs, obviously a highly talented pastry chef, as all the team are..3 red star AA food without a doubt. We have been 4/5 times under the new management & on every occasion outstanding food. I heartily recommend as you are getting individual home made high quality food lovingly prepared by talented chefs at pub chain pingping prices, that the quality is nowhere near.. this restaurant should be packed for every service! Bravo! ps.. the coffee is good as well!
