The Perch
Welcome to The Perch at the Peacock Inn, where each meal is a celebration of community-driven produce and thoughtfully-sourced ingredients. We are continually inspired by our area’s hardworking farmers and by the myriad possibilities of seasonality. It is a privilege to share this moment of comfort and attentiveness with you.
At Perch, our food pays homage to the idea of terroir—that each product grown and raised in our particular corner of New Jersey carries its own individual taste. Our rotating dishes adapt with the changing seasons of the local microclimate, and we work closely with our friends and purveyors to bring you the best in peak season.

We had an amazing anniversary dinner at the Perch. The food was delicious and the staff truly went above and beyond to ensure a great experience. We cannot wait to come back!
Our 44th Wedding Anniversary with one of our daughters and son in law. The menu was great and I could tell this would be a restaurant I will visit many more times.
The staff and all the service was very engaging and professional.
The appetizers and entrees were off the charts In taste and originality
Beautiful place. Excellent service. We did not feel rushed. We'd love to go again.
Awesome place and very elegant . Nothing to improve
Great day. Quaint, cozy, friendly service all the way around.
Food was really tasty. Loved the personalized French press coffee as well.
Halibut and steak dishes were impeccable. The “smoky old fashion” was phenomenal
Fantastic food, even better service, very reasonably priced (as compared to similar restaurants), and valet parking was a big help for our out of town dining partners. I’ll certainly be back soon!
Great ambience and service. Drinks pricey but yummy. They are generous w the bread and small bites before the actual meal. Romantic place. Gets busy tho, earlier the better.
Fabulous food and wonderful service!
Outstanding dining experience! Amuse bouche was nice surprise and so tasty! I was urged to try the French dip for first course and it did not disappoint- my only complaint was it was a meal in itself! My friend had pork entree which was incredible- never had anything like it. I had halibut and it was divine. Large wine list and staff helped us pick wine within our budget that went perfectly with both the pork and my fish. Service was impeccable. Needless to say we will be back if ever in Princeton again!
Food and service were excellent.
Highly recommend the maitake french dip appetizer.
We had a great experience and will be back. Food and service was excellent. A great place to celebrate a special occasion.
Was delightful!
We selected the restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. It was a milestone birthday. It’s a nice restaurant which we frequent quite often, on this occasion we were disappointed. They did not acknowledge the occasion, which I informed them about when we arrived.
What a wonderful evening and meal at The Perch. The mushroom french dip was a delicious twist on a classic. The entrees were excellent. The service and special attention Michael Rohrbach provides is second to none. The Perch is one of our favorites. We can't wait to return.
Dinner began with amuse bouche sent from the kitchen. We had broccoli rabe with marcona almonds, assorted olives and fried green tomatoes, crusty bread and butter with sea salt. For a first course my husband selected Norwich Meadow Farms Kyoto Carrot Soup (caraway, rye bread crumbs, gingered cultured cream) and I selected Jersey Clam Chowder (fresh Jersey clams, warm roots & herbs, smoked pork jowl, crispy clam fritter). We both thoroughly enjoyed our soups. The carrot soup had a hint a ginger and my chowder was rich and the accompanying clam fritter was light and crisp.
For entrees I went with caramelized sunchoke agnolotti (heirloom tomato butter, swiss chard, kite’s country ham). The agnolotti was feather light in a rich, creamy sauce, it was heavenly. My husband chose Heritage Pork Chop (hakurei turnips, crunch brown butter groats, apple blossom, bee pollen mustard). The kitchen sliced the around the bone and then sliced the meat into slices. It was a nice presentation. The pork was fork tender and delicious.
Although I was comfortable satisfied after my dinner, my husband insisted that we share dessert. We chose Fig Chiboust Tart (roasted fig & almond layer cake caramelized fig chiboust, honey, yogurt sauce) accompanied by a cup of decaf coffee. The cake was light, a hint of sweetness and tasty.
Wonderful outside patio, with delightful service!
I have been here a couple times. The food is excellent and the servers are very professional. There is nothing but kindness and courtesy when a person dines here. It is such a pleasant experience. I cannot say enough good things about the Perch at the Peacock Inn. I highly recommend it.
Wonderful meal, service, and ambiance. Felt very Covid-safe!
Our favorite restaurant for a special occasion. Expensive but always worth the price.
Service was outstanding. Very charming ambiance and atmosphere. Wish there were more options on the breakfast menu but the food that we selected was good overall.
In past lives this was a first rate refined Inn and restaurant with classic bar. The food, drinks and service all at the highest standards and quality standard cuisine with chef making some creations that if not of someone's complete liking at least caringly adventuresome. It was better to not focus on the very high prices, knowing much of that was for just maintaining the ability to have such a place available.
Pandemic, a slow Thursday in a cold February certainly are a consideration.
With 6 customers and 2 servers, we were attended to professionally but not at all ridgedly.
The place remains as it has been, comfortable and classic albeit aging.
The food was well proportioned, in fact fairly large. The one item that was special and wonderful (a mushroom sandwich au jus) - different and by nature a small sub a casual presentation and an especially perfect appy/snack if at the bar. We may well return for that.
The other courses were satisfactory (nothing showing exceptional quality or preperation), with the entree (a pork chop) cooked to dryness. I suspect the delay in preparation (including being brought the wrong order once) may be because of some back of house problem.
Essentially with all aspects in one, it is on par with the many other places in the area. However, t is not in the league to justify a total cost for 2 glasses wine, 2 apps, 1 entree and 1 dessert and coffees, gratuity totalling $170.
Finally, I did notice there is a lovely back patio I had never considered before. Not just for pandemic, but perhaps as an alternative to the cave like bar and bar menu, with heaters or nature, that could be a lovely spot.
Has to be in the top 3 best restaurants I've eaten at in the past 10 years (and I'm a huge foodie!)
The food was crazy off the hook amazing. Great presentation. Perfect service. Gorgeous ambience. My friends and I celebrated a birthday, and we already promised each other we would be back - and often!
The service was impeccable from start to finish. Mike Rohrbach the General Manager took care of every detail and Eric our server was friendly and very attentive. The food was truly a magical experience, creative and tasty and stunning to the eye. Highly recommended!
I love The Perch! Wonderful food, service & ambience. Will definitely come back

Amazing! Food was amazing and the service was Stella. High recommend and would go again.
Absolutely wonderful experience and food. Drinks especially were a treat. Made for a perfect Valentine's. <3
Simply a fantastic experience with exceptional food and service for a wonderful Valentine's day dinner ;-)
an elegant evening. A place where you can wear a suit jacket if you prefer and the ladies can dress up. Feels like you are visiting a very important historic home with large rooms and high ceilings. This place makes you feel special.
My husband and I enjoyed the prix fixe menu offered for Valentine’s Day!

Went for Brunch at the Perch - it was amazing! Food is delicious!
Great ambience and experience. If you expect a quick meal this is not your place. This is more a date type experience where the noise level and intimacy is excellent. Portions are great and the menu was delicious
