Salad was really excellent, as was the sushi tuna appetizer. The duck entree was a little too salty, but otherwise good. The seafood ramen was mixed. The ramen itself was quite good but the bits of fish, octopus, etc. were dried out and not very tasty. All in all the food was good, but not up to the standard of such an expensive restaurant. The service was friendly but slow - I don't hold that against the restaurant because I know how hard it is to lay on sufficient help these days.
All the food taste great however the duck that we ordered was very undercooked which I told the waiter and the chef agreed I was able to eat half of it they offered us one dessert that was really not good enough they shouldn’t have charged me for the course or made an adjustment on the price
We’ve eaten at Preston House frequently and each time, we’ve never been disappointed. Our most recent visit was on a Thursday, Ramen night. One person ordered s Ramen dish & enjoyed it thoroughly. The other meals were also wonderful: salmon, steak, chicken. Be sure to get the bread- portion is small, which is good since you’ll want to keep eating it! You won’t be disappointed, and if you’re very lucky, Bessie might be your server.
While the dinner can get pricey once you add in the tasty beverages, the food is among the top three I’ve had on the North Fork having spent over 3 decades in Jamesport.
Absolutely making it our special occasion go to place.
$52 lobster roll special. Get outta here with that nonsense
From moment we arrived , Jacob was so on his game ..
He ended up also being our waiter ..
Of course mid meal we got our typical visit from jenn
Always a pleasure …
The help were extremely attentive
Food was off the charts …
Food is consistently delicious. Truly one of the best restaurants in the area.
evening was lovely
we came here for the first time for our anniversary and ramen night!
great choices for ramen
great drinks !!
the service was great and they didnt rush you at all
very prompt and attentive
Upon arrival the hostess decided to greet the couple behind us before seating us so we stood waiting while she discussed their seating options
Waited for our first drink about 25min. Waitress who was extremely nice just overwhelmed twice apologized. Appetizer of oyster Rockefeller was great as well as the free bread. Sadly the main entrees were poor quality and overpriced.
Lobster dumplings were fishy. NY strip cane out over cooked first time. Second attempt was cooked correctly but it tater like a steak I could buy at stop and shop and cook at home. Served over and very overpowering spicy sauce that blew away your taste buds. Side veg was 4 small chunks over zucchini. Definitely not good or worth the money. Second drink order took another 25 min.
Only thing that made is ok was the live music and professional waitress.
Great food, drinks and service! Will definitely be going back!
Wasn’t bad- Everything had a spicy twist to it. Wasn’t expecting that but it was good. Only complaint is that some of the prices were a little high esp the steak for 2 at $250!! Even w/ the prices of steak being high, I’m not that high to pay that price!! Lol. Overall good experience. Would go again.
The restaurant is sort of bare-bones no table cloths that I could see we sat outside the staff was very helpful and friendly the wine was delicious the food was delicious although my pasta was a little salty overall we had a very nice time I would recommend it oysters were outstanding
Love the place. Really wonderful space, well done, enticing menu, great food, nice wine selection, love the performer, Vanessa Trouble and love the outdoor veranda. Only two thought: lights on veranda are horribly bright, totally detracts from experience. Drinks were amazing but drink service seemed quite slow. A high water mark on the whole of the north fork!
The creativity in that kitchen and fabulous taste of everything we ordered is actually mind-blowing!!!
Overpriced.. Poorly prepared entrees. poor wait staff. Awful experience
Absolutely amazing food and wonderful flavors! The bartender also shares an enthusiasm for exposing customers to new flavors. The young staff could use more training in when to clear ans familiarizing themselves with popular cocktails, but overall, we really loved our experience here.
Love the Preston House!!
Great food, very friendly service and fun surroundings
Fun night. Sat outside. Great cocktails - plenty stiff. Good wine selection. Delicious oysters. We had duck, scallops, lobster dumplings. All very good. Would go back.
We had a great dinner last night. The staff was very attentive, and our waitress was amazing. We ordered the steak special for the evening. Very tasty!
The homemade limoncello was a very appreciated surprise.
Another delicious meal here with great service! Oysters Rockefeller, Short Ribs, Meyer Lemon Cavatelli Carbonara were the biggest hits.
Excellent Food, very friendly and attentive service in A very beautiful restaurant! Outside seating avail as well. The hotel it’s in is top notch as well!
We had a lovely brunch! The menu is wonderful, something for everyone for sure. The staff was so helpful and nice, it really made for a flare at time. I love dinner here and now I am a brunch fan as well.
A very bad restaurant. The service is very bad. After the food is ready, there is no waiter to take care of you anymore. I wanted to pay the bill after eating. I waited for 45 minutes and no one gave us the bill.
Great food as usual! Drinks are a bit pricy. Can't wait for the new seasonal menu to start this Friday. Dishes are very creative.
Very interesting tasty light dinner had the chicken roasted with a sweet and sour type of dish berry different very little artichoke which I was surprised about . Kali asked for medium got medium rare on her burger, chef you need to be careful and cook to order.
You had 2 customers who’s fathers were too chefs !
My server “Bessie “was fantastic !
She was so willing to make everything , come out right & special . Really hard working gal, went out of her way to do a great job !
Truth be told I was little disappointed in Niki ,
He was at reception to check us in , I put in special notes on open table was my cousins birthday 🥳 day , nothing was done never asked about cake 🎂 or
Better yet he never wished her happy birthday
It was only after asking him 3 times to check me in on open table so I could get credit. He mentions I just saw your note at that point we were done with our dinner ready to head out.
You got to remember-to treat the customers well even if you can’t afford to give out cake 🎂 on some one’s birthday 🎉 you can at least wish them HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
The food was pretty good, but not great. $48 for just OK ala carte lambchops is a bit much. The server was quite friendly, but slow.
Portion size was very small for the price The food was very good
Precision, delicious food perfectly executed in a relaxed, historic, fun atmosphere!
Cool ambiance and good cocktails but food was lacking given how expensive it is. Got the burger and ramen and could have made better dishes myself
Good service. A bit pricey, but nice atmosphere.
Great food and service.
We went for the buck a shuck oysters. They were fresh and delicious. I really enjoyed the grapefruit, orange compote sauce ( I think that’s what it was! ) very surprised by the combination and loved it.
We shared some grilled octopus and shrimp and lobster dumplings. 5 stars from me on everything. Dessert was light and delicious too! Ube ice cream with whipped cream, rhubarb chutney, slivered almonds on a perfectly crisp pastry. Atmosphere was clean and comfortable, stylish, nice lighting and good acoustics. Service was 5 stars.
Took our 2 year old granddaughter for lunch after a visit to the LI Aquarium which was right across the street. They were very accommodating- let us switch our outdoor table (on this 90+ degree day) to an inside table without a fuss, offered a high chair without being asked, redirected us to the hotel restroom for an emergency potty break when the restaurant one was occupied, and anticipated our needs for everything from another fork to more ice or lemons. The food was excellent and they had a kids menu. Would definitely return.
Excellent food, great spot
Great food. Excellent and friendly service. Consistent. We always enjoy going here. Shout out to Jacob (our server) for the excellent service.
The selection of menu items, the preparation and presentation are consistently outstanding. Eating dinner on the covered porch added to this very pleasant evening. The staff knows the menu well and can answer all my unending questions with a smile - they all seem to enjoy their work and making customers happy.
It was great! The food was fabulous with great choices. We wanted everything. And the wait staff professional. Far and away the best meal and restaurant we’ve been to in the area. Perfect for date, friends, just the perfect tone. Can’t wait to come back and bring all our friends.
