What Insiders Are Saying
The Progress, on Fillmore, is a great time and a good scene, with excellent food.
Truly unique and special food in a great setting.
Drinks and wine were also on point.
Highly recommended for a special night out.
Delicious food, with particularly great texture!
We had an amazing server who guided us through the evening. She was wonderful. The rolli was delicious! We ordered one too many plates and went home very satisfied.
We had a great meal at The Progress! Everything was incredibly well prepared and thoughtful, highlights included the squid ink cavatelli (one of the best pasta dishes ive had in awhile, very fine and thin noodles, super tasty) and the BBQ duck which was incredible. Thanks to Eunice and the team at The Progress! You all are killing it!
Had an amazing dinner celebrating an anniversary. The staff was very nice, welcoming, and answered all of our questions. We'll definitely be back, there's so much to try on the menu!
OMG! Amazing food. Laid back atmosphere and service but still 5 star. Wonderful cocktails. Definitely coming back.
It’s a marvelous dinner to celebrate birthday. Ambiance is simple but elegant. The server was very experienced and made us feel at home. I loved the entree and small plates. The food were of highest quality. I’ll definitely come back for more.
Fantastic flavors, perfect service. Raw turnip and citrus fruit salad sounds dubious, but it's divine. These folks know what they're doing.
AMAZING FOOD. Amazing service, amazing venue. Just wow!
Fabulous service, food, wine list, the package!!!
My experience dining at The Progress was excellent. From the dynamic menu that reflected the season’s ingredients to the service that never allowed my glass to be empty, I truly had a great dining experience. Not only would I recommend it to a friend, but I do expect that I'll be returning myself!
The Progress was fantastic - amazing food with so many small plates or large plates (3) to choose from. We enjoyed learning about the menu from the server and then checking off what we wanted. We got there a little early, which meant we could try a couple of the cocktails at the bar.
The food/atmosphere/wait staff were all wonderful....we will be back.
Amazing, top to bottom. Don’t skimp on the veggie centered dishes. The duck is something not of this world, in a good way. Well done y’all.
My friend and me had a wonderful farewell dinner . It should be a memorable dinner for him after five years working in United States and now he is returning back to Japan .
Had a great time at The Progress. Came as a group for a work dinner and it was a great spot for us. Food was great for sharing and so tasty. Definitely would go back.
Great restaurant & with wonderful (if loud) atmosphere.
Consistently impressive!! Two years on and I chose the Progress again to catch-up with life-long friends. The first visit was overwhelmingly good, so it seemed like the obvious choice to recreate the experience with the same friends distanced between oceans; Canadian and Australian. Our second experience did not disappoint with every moment and interaction; from walking in the door to being seated at table to the delight of seeing every plate being delivered and explained being amazing. Every element was extremely enjoyable, a frisson experience. Perhaps the bill was a little more than we recall from the first time, however purely a fabulous memory that I hope to try a third time.
Lovely time out with my love! Food was excellent!
The Progress is always excellent. It would be nice if they changed the menu more often. It is expensive but unique. My group felt that the servicer was trying to upsale us. It was definitely not appropriate for an upscale restaurant like Progress.
Huge fan! My go to spot for an awesome meal!
Excellent and inventive food. Great evening, great service
Stick to their salads. Verrryyyy salty entrees. Underwhelmed & Disappointed.
Excellent evening, unfortunately the party next to us was very loud. Service was attentive, personable and not intrusive. As for the menu selections, the sturgeon was a stand out among all the items selected.
Menu was strange and had d to figure nd something to order
Best Restaurant that I have been to in years. Food was out of this world. Had the fried trout, the ham hock soup and the beat sturgeon plate. Truly a pleasure to die at
Loved the food here! The winter citrus salad and duck platter were both awesome!
Personally, I would have preferred a little less going on on each plate. If I order quail eggs, I like to be able to SEE the quail eggs when the dish is served. Ditto the mackerel. We asked that our courses be served in a certain order. The wait person said they would "course" the food, but it wasn't the way we had desired. After our wine was initially poured, no one bothered to pour again. We did it ourselves. I'm not sure I understand the Michelin star.
Amazing, just amazing. Thoroughly impressed. My new favorite restaurant. Get the duck.
On the whole, it was a lovely dining experience and our waiter was fantastic. I have a few issues that do not change how much we enjoyed our time there but they are worth noting. The corkage charge of $30 is just out of line. We all ordered drinks and that should have mitigated that charge, as it often does at this quality of restaurant.
We loved our duck dish and it was frankly ethereal but the Fresh Cod had a very odd texture as we were all turned off by that a bit. The salad were inventive and lovely and everything else was very good. We would all go back!
The food and service at The Progress were amazing.
Food was quite bland. The crab didn't have any flavor and the pork shoulder was dry. The portions were small, and it took longer than it should have to serve the courses. By the time the last two plates were served, we were ready to leave. For all the hype and what it costs, it was a disappointing dining experience.
Just great food from the epitome of a truly creative couple of cooks/chefs
Staff cares about the food and the message and taking care of the guests
What a beautiful treat
Thank you Stuart, Nicole and your back up team
We celebrated my husband's birthday and were not disappointed! We've been to The Progress several times now, and each time find the menu so interesting and creative, and always delicious no matter what we choose. The cocktails are stellar, the staff is always warm and welcoming and the service just right.
Thank you for a wonderful evening! We'll be back soon.
All of dishes are so inspiring, and appropriately portioned. For glasses of wine and 1/2 bottle of wine, they bring bottles to table and pour from bottles. This way of service is what I always long for. Thank you very much!
Lovely setting. Would not recommend if you are gluten free or not into crudo. I am 6 months pregnant and has to go for a second dinner after Progress. Not something I’ve ever had to do before.
We had an early 5:30 reservation and it took twice as long to get there. Despite being over 30 minutes late, the staff could not have been more gracious. Upon our arrival, we were greeted warmly and they set our expectations in an extremely professional manner that there was another reservation within two hours.
The food was delicious and nicely balanced. Dishes are served family style and came quickly without being rushed. We enjoyed the Brussels sprouts so much that we placed a second order for that.
I am looking forward to returning to The Progress!
This is one of my new favorite restaurants in the city. Great attentive service and amazing food served family style. Have the duck and lamb chops. Amazing!
