The Ragged Cot
Having stood proudly since the 17th Century, the coaching house has an intriguing past filled with highwaymen and pilferage. Recently under new ownership, the Ragged Cot has been lovingly restored to combine authentic countryside tradition with modern style and comfort – with dogs and wellies welcome! The shabby chic interior and deeply comfortable bedrooms are the epitome of countryside cool.

We choose the Ragged Cot from several recommendations by our Airbnb host for my husbands birthday, the website read very well with lots of choices
Unfortunately because of COVID and lack of staff problems the menu was vastly depleted, the meat choices we steak or burgers which non of us like so it was vegetarian for my husband and I and fish and chips my sister in law not exactly excited for a special occasion
The menus we on the table but no drinks list the first thing we were ask what would you like to drink so they had to get us a wine list
The staff were pleasant and doing their best in difficult circumstances the food was OK but not exceptional perhaps it would be better to point out on the website or when booking the restricted menu as many other places in the area do
The Ragged Cot didn’t live up to its claims of Boutique and quaint Cotswolds style
the restaurant is fairly bland
Such a shame for one of first ventures out after lockdown not much Covid rules
We ate in at our rental the next day it was much nicer
An excellent meal staff were friendly and service excellent
We were very disappointed at the menu choices.
Very limited especially for my husbands likes.
At top of menu a notice apologised for restricted menu due to covid!
They should also change their web site in that case
Lovely food, excellent service (lovely friendly waitress). Sat outside in the sunny garden
Haven’t been for a while but the service was excellent and our Sunday lunch was superb. Large table by us was served by 3 servers meaning all food came out at the same time . Already discussing to go back and try evening meal.
An enjoyable lunch in a pleasant garden.
The menu was pretty good although reduced because of the problems caused by Covid.
We were welcomed warmly and the staff were polite and friendly.
The food was very tasty and reasonably priced, although I think the desserts (delicious) were a little expensive as you can get similar quality a little cheaper elsewhere.
We would return.
Limited menu due to pandemic and staff shortages, but good quantity and well cooked. Staff properly attentive and pleasant. Overall a pleasing experience.
Very accommodating as we had a dog. Food was super tasty.
We think it’s changed hands and staff! Staff very friendly and a professional though. We travel over an hour to go for Sunday lunch there, as it was worth it, but having not been there for a while we were slightly disappointed this time, food was fine but not as fabulous as it use to be. If you’re local then worth a trip
We had heard mixed reviews but were very happily surprised. A small mix up with our order was handled professional and when the food came it was delicious. Would recommend.
Always have a great experience and this was no different….
Good food, great service….
We had Sunday lunch and it was delicious! Good size portion. Would recommend.
We were made to feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was excellent. My husband have the beef Sunday Roast, which he said was outstanding, while I had the Crispy Duck Salad which was superb.
I would recommend this Pub to couple or families.
Went for bottomless brunch- it was wonderful and we were really well looked after.
Cosy love their style
Awful, service poor asked questions never came back with answers. The lamb ok veg undercooked to the point couldn’t cut, gravy like water, Yorkshire pudding very poor. A couple of choices of dessert but not available. Overpriced will not return
The meal was booked as a birthday celebration. All group members selected ‘roast dinner’ options. However, roast potatoes were undercooked and there were no green vegetables for one member of the party. Four diners selected lamb; three were very pleased with the quality of the meat. Overall, the group felt the meals were overpriced. Table service was friendly and efficient.
The food was bland and roast potatoes undercooked- some other veg was over cooked.
Very small portion of roast beef.
Coffee machine out of order but no offer to hand make coffee.
Not up to the usual standard we have come to appreciate at the Ragged Cot.
Really nice, the food was lovely , good service and total bill was not expensive.
Food was wonderful - service and ambiance very good indeed. Will revisit soon
Average food quality. Nice environment and friendly service.
Timing: Friday evening, sunny and warm, a busy night (social distancing has ended), tables in the garden were 80% full, a shortage of staff, several new/ inexperienced/ untrained staff (the owner told us when he apologised for the poor service - 30 minutes to get a drink, over 45 to get food).
Food: Excellent! Unusual dishes, tasty, beautifully prepared, hot. Worth going back when they’ve got their act together. Ragged Cot? Owner running ragged that evening.
The service was excellent. The setting was excellent and the food was even better.
Excellent food - lovely to find a menu different to the normal options
Get together with friends after many months
Luckily we had a beautiful day
We will come back soon maybe coming an evening next time with family
So nice to be back and I appreciate how difficult it must be to get back to ‘normal’.
The food was lovely and the only criticism of the service was that it was a bit disorganised. It seemed to be totally random whether someone offered you drinks or came to take your food order, so certain stages (like getting to order puddings) were very slow. However, the staff were pleasant and cheerful and it was a joy to sit outside with well spaced tables in the pretty and peaceful garden.
Clean restaurant, staff very friendly and the food was very goof
Nice food in a lovely setting. A little slow on service but not a great problem. Could do with more vegetarian variety.
We went for a bottomless brunch to celebrated our belated birthday from last year.
We were able to choose if we were sat inside or out which was great.
The food was delicious, drinks were great and Ilena (sorry if we have your name wrong!) was superb. Service did drop off a little towards the busier time - however when this was mentioned they were more than accommodating. We hope to return again with our husbands!
Thank you for everything!
The food was delicious and the service was great. The restaurant is in a lovely, peaceful location with a beautiful garden.
The staff are lovely, very friendly and the food is really flavoursome. The food is let down by the fact its just not quitewarm enough.
Obviously due to covid they have the doors open to let air flow but the food coming out of the kitchen just isn't hot enough to cope with the cooler dining room conditions.
Gorgeous meal and fabulous waitress! We will be back!
Rump steaks fine - happy with those. Thai fish cakes like cardboard & left uneaten. Cauliflower steak chosen as gluten free but inedible as was polenta served with it. Replaced by kimsu curry free of charge but close to inedible too. Staff tried hard but too few to manage and shortage of kitchen staff meant over an hour wait for food - free bread & olives provided while waiting - thank you. All-in-all a very disappointing experience and not what we used to expect at the Cot. Thanks to those staff who did their best in difficult circumstances. Hope it will return to former ways when more staff are employed & food is all fresh, not days old.
Just had an excellent meal. Service was superb, very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Food was well cooked and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be returning.
Enjoyable Sunday lunch at The Ragged Cot. Staff service and food excellent. Maybe a little pricey ( eg stuffing with chicken was extra) but very happy overall and would probably return.
Excellent meal and service for 4. Very good value.
Really pleasant and helpful staff and a varied menu, with good sized portions. Notably, an excellent range of gluten free choices, too. We’ll be going again soon!
A very enjoyable evening with excellent food at sensible prices, friendly serving staff & a very nice
We have been to this restaurant which is located very close to our home many times and on each occasion our experience has been excellent and the service impeccable.
We would heartily recommend this restaurant to families who have not dined there before.
Full marks to all of the staff!
Lovely food and setting
Quiet in bar area
Disappointing service and none of the 3 vegetarian options on the menu were available just a veg burger
Young lad had no idea what a craft beer was - just identified some lagers - brought meal out and said he was going back for veg, but came back and cleaned other tables when we queried where the veg was he said it wasn’t ready! Meanwhile food got cold
Actual meal was nice ( but cold - see above) wouldn’t recommend which is a shame as clearly owners were trying their best
