   A beautiful little place, very welcoming and cosy. The service was excellent, polite, friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. The food, as always, was fantastic. Everything was utterly delicious and served hot. A really lovely Mother’s Day for my mum.

   We took mum for a Mother's Day treat for some tapas. It was our first experience and we will most definitely be back - really, really lovely food, great service, absolutely loved it!

   The Selkie is a small comfortable restaurant on Exchange street Dundee .. I found the food and atmosphere very nice the staff were friendly and efficient … I would definitely go back and highly recommend

   We came for my wife’s birthday and had a fantastic meal! The food was amazing and every dish we had tasted great! The staff were very helpful and friendly and very kindly gave us some birthday freebies too! We’d love to come back

    Fantastic food and discrete service in a relaxed casual environment. Tasty tapas, fab cocktails and cold beer hat more do you want. Only one slight negative was the door closer not working properly which let in an icy blast on a cold day!!

    The food was very nice, but unfortunately as it was very busy items were missing from order. These were replaced but staff looked very rushed and stressed.

    Nice place and decent enough food. Coffee not hot enough for me but she did make me a new one and poor waitress was swamped on her own dealing with 8 different tables by 10am. Hope it quietened down for her. Also hubbie and I had same tray bake but his was half the size of mine, same price very different portion.

    The SelkieResponded on March 12, 2023Thanks for your feedback. We had two staff on FOH from 10 yesterday. Breakfast can get a little busy but we seat less than 30 at a time that is usually plenty. I am sorry that the coffee wasn't as hot as you would like. We don't want to scorch the milk, extra hot drinks can be requested. Our traybakes are all hand made it is possible that when it was cut the size was a bit different, if the slice you received was considerable smaller you should have told us at the time so that we could fix it.

    Food wasn’t great - my steak was mostly fat and my friends baked eggs were like rubber. No one came and asked if everything was ok at any point except when paying the bill and even then it seemed a bit of an afterthought. Table was beside the door too which didn’t shut properly and I had I close it myself about 30 times in a one hour period. Also took 40 mins for ordering to getting our food which isn’t great when on a lunch break. Fed this back when paying the bill. Not sure I’ll be back. Shame because I’ve been a few times and always enjoyed it

    Menu slightly confusing with options of 3,4 or 5 tapas per person depending on which section of the menu you look at. Tapas dishes were delicious except for the artichoke. As usual with Tapas dishes just arrive when ready but we were served our first 2 dishes and then waited for a long time before anything else arrived. Staff were friendly. So overall not quite as good as it has been previously but won’t put us off coming again.

    Lovely dinner as always. However, we went thinking it was tapas Tuesday (£3.50 per dish) and I had checked the website to make sure this was still being done. On arrival we were told they no longer do tapas Tuesday. I understand with rising costs deals may need to be stopped but the website does need to be updated as it is still on there today, it was a shame as that was what we were expecting.

    Very friendly chatty waitress. She overheard me mention it was my dad's birthday so at the end of our meal brought him a piece of cake with a candle. Excellent selection of food. Will definitely be back.

    Booking easy to make. We were allowed to change where e we were sitting but as it turned out the front door kept sticking and unless people leaving physically closed the door, it would stick remaining partially opened and you could feel the cold air coming in. The food was excellent. We chose the Chef’s selection for a fixed price. We were asked if there was anything we didn’t like. All the food arrived fairly quickly and was steaming hot and delicious. We couldn’t see a dessert menu. We were just told what our choices were. TBH something lighter after all that food would have been a nice option. It was cheesecakes or sponges. Very heavy. The girls who served us were brilliant. Very friendly. Chatty. Worked hard. The atmosphere was great. We weren’t rushed at all. Will definitely go back.

    My favourite restaurant in Dundee! Every dish that I've had there has been so delicious. It was my friend's first visit and she thought it was the best tapas outside Spain! Friendly welcome, felt well spoilt after a free glass of prosecco. Always great deals on. Can't wait to go back again xx
