This is my second time and We got seated right away, it took about ten minutes for the waiter to come over, when he did he took over order. The drinks took five minutes the appetizers took another 20 minutes the food took 30mins and the waiter never came and said it was busy in the kitchen, I call him over and the when he told us that it was busy. When I finally got our food it was not hot.
My first experience was way better that's y I went back the second time
Had an amazing dinner for our mom. The food was everything we hoped it would be…Delicious! Will be back soon.
Service was real good. Food was delicious. Will definitely recommend to others.
Second time coming and this time to celebrate my mother’s birthday. I spoke so highly about this place but this second time around our waiter was not so friendly. The food was great! We didn’t like how our second round of drinks tasted and instead of apologizing and asking to fix it he just took them and didn’t care. His demeanor was not very inviting and we had to wait a very long time for him to come over after trying to get his attention. When i made a reservation i specifically put we are celebrating a birthday in case they do anything special. We were going to leave but my 3 year old insisted we sing happy birthday. I inquired with him (waiter) if they do anything special for birthdays he said yes but we were to inform the hostess in a very annoyed tone. This tone was pretty much his tone the entire time he “serviced” us. I stated i did in my reservation. Again we would have left solely off of the service he provided but my daughter insisted. This restaurant is still beautiful And great but i think his service should be addressed.
Appetizers arrived cold. Drinks were watered down and the food was mediocre.
Waitress Sasha was amazing. Quantity of food was great, price was expensive but food tastes great. Party of 7 celebrating a birthday and Sasha made each one of us feel like her family even the kids.
Second time visiting and the experience just keeps on getting better. My daughter & I enjoyed the food and ambiance of this restaurant wholeheartedly. Our Host (Linden) was phenomenal. He was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and accurately confident in his recommendations of the food menu and cocktails. This is something I HIGHLY value in host/ hostess service. Everything was 100% definitely look forward to our next dining experience at The Simpson. THANK YOU LINDEN!
My original reservation was for 7/5/21 as I had a friend visiting from out to town. It came highly recommended from a friend that's a Chef, but they called and asked that I reschedule as they'd be closed on Monday. I did and was certainly not disappointed. My friend and I order several dishes off the menu Bammy Ackee & Saltfish Bites, Cod Fish Fritters with Scotch Bonnet Aioli, Slow Braised Oxtail and Butter Beans w/ Rice & Peas & Seasonal Veggies, & St. Louis Bourbon BBQ Ribs w/ Loaded Potatoes. Drinks were POSH Island. Who could forget Desserts: Black Cake with Rum Sauce & Cheesecake (MUST HAVES). Both were great but the cheesecake literally exploded in my mouth on contact---yummmmyy. Everything was absolutely delicious and needless to say we couldn't eat all. The service was superb and the staff attentive. And the best part we got to meet the Chef himself. Thanks for being gracious Chef Simpson. Definitely will dine here again.
The Jerk Salmon wasn't what I expected, very disappointed. The Jasmine Rice was chewy and cold.. The codfish fritters was too doughy inside. Won't have these again
The restaurant is nice, great vibe. The food is good, but not great. The menu was very underwhelming. Considering that it is a Jamaican restaurant, located o=in Brooklyn, there are plenty of mom and pop restaurants with better food. The drinks were really good. I am not saying that I will not return, but I would most likely visit for a seat at the bar for drinks and appetizers.
Amazing time celebrating my graduation and mother’s birthday here. The staff was so friendly from start to finish. The curry salmon was bomb!! Went on a Saturday evening with no crazy lines or wait time. Will return.
I would recommend the Simpson Restaurant and Bar for dining out, the food, ambience, the service was exemplary. From the moment our party of four arrived, we were happy with the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. Their jerk chicken was delicious. The ambience of the restaurant was very nice. Our waiter was very attentive while serving our table. To finish off our dinner, we ordered the caramel cheesecake which was so delicious. As a group of 4 we cannot wait to come back for a second time.
Simpson is as it says a bar and restaurant. Think Applebee's with Jamaican options. My parents went for their wedding anniversary which I put in the remarks when booking. They liked the food overall, the bammy was subpar, needed music in the dining section or something - it was just TVs. To note, Simpson did come out to greet 1 one table but didn't make an effort to greet even my parents right next to that table. It is still a new restaurant, that makes a difference. My parents are old school Caribbean, and they found that unprofessional. Also, you must always have clean garments in the back as the owner, we get it that you were working but a chef always has clean attire for photo opps. They enjoyed the stuff steam fish and curry salmon with rice and peas, and brought home some of it. Overall, they liked the Jam.Down option in the neighborhood but PR and ambience needs improvement. They noticed the many pictures the owner has with celebrities in the restaurant but felt it probably should be displayed in a different way throughout the space. Keep up the good work!
Potential to be an amazing establishment. However,
Just okay, service extremely slow, food scale of one to five, I would give it a three.
Very nice ambiance, clean, food was amazing, the portion size was great it's worth the money. The chef/owner actually comes out and greets the guest which is very comforting. I definitely will be going back!!!!
The food was fresh and great. The waiter was very pleasant and helpful. We will definitely be returning
Love every bit of the food. The staff is just amazing and so welcoming. Thank you so much. Can't wait till i return.
I was unaware when I booked the reservation that the regular menu would not be available. They only had a $75pp pre fixe menu that included a salad, appetizer, entree & dessert.
The salad was underdressed,
The shrimp was salty on the appetizer
There was no vegetarian entree available only 2 seafood & 1 meat. My husband was only able to eat his sides. The sauce on the lamb was delicious, the curry shrimp was tasty, the lobster did not taste fresh and was over cooked. The rice & vegetables were excellent. The dessert course was a duo of bread pudding & red velvet cake, the portion was ridiculously small in comparison to the other courses, but delicious none the less.
The drinks were average, not good or great
The food was amazing!! There was some miscommunication with getting our order taken, that was because we were already seated with drinks from the bar so the servers thought we were being waited on. That was taken care of promptly and efficiently, to which we were very appreciative.
Definitely recommendable and we will 100% go back
I Love the food. I took my Mother here for Mother’s Day and my Father for Father’s Day. We all enjoyed it so much that our family all sampled each other’s plates. I look forward to trying a new dish each time I visit and the menu items never disappoints me. Hopefully I will be able to meet Mr. Simpson there personally one day. I am also an aspiring chef whom wouldn’t mind being Mr. Simpson’s understudy. 😊. Keep up the great work. I look forward to being a regular patron. I can’t wait to visit the other branches in Miami, LA, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, DC and even Toronto in the coming years.👏👏👏😇
Beautiful and clean restaurant. I was dining with my family. Our waitress Renae was very Professional, Pleasant, Patient, Informative. Even though she had on her mask you could see her smile in her eyes .She asked us if it was our first time coming to the restaurant and thank us for coming.
I will definitely be coming back.
The place is nice and very spacious. A large bar which is nice to see for a place you can watch sports and chill with a large group and not have to worry if they will have space. Our Warri was was great!! The food was tasty. Overall it was a good time and I will be going back.
The food was outstanding, I truly enjoyed my food. Two thumbs up.
The staff warm, knowledgeable about the menu quick service, the food was beyond delicious, my Nephew ordered the Jerk oxtail with Mac and cheese, i thought i saw tears in his eyes, he said it was awesome…..i ordered sides the honey curry chicken wings and Bammy. Tasty!, try the Rum Punch! I also ordered a dinner to go Jerk Chicken, my Brother loved the smoky flavor of the Jerk Chicken………nice job chef!
I had a birthday dinner planned but was late to due to Murphy’s law. We arrived 20 mins before closing but they still took our party of 8 and served and treated us as if we got there on time. The food was great and so was my Mojito.
Everything was amazing from the ambience to the delicious food.
Upon entry the hostess was soooo kind and comforting. Then our server Troy was super attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. While we ate, the owner Patrick came over and introduced himself and asked how we liked the food (jerk salmon, curry salmon, Ackee and salt fish on bread fruit and the hennessy cheesecake) and we were able to express our delight of the flavorful meal. We will definitely be back! Mainly because we still have a ton of other dishes to try and we now feel like family.
Yes, the food was served hot and it was delicious. Beautiful presentation. Waited over an hour to eat. Saturday night the restaurant was full which had the staff very busy. Yannick thank you very much. Your service was appreciated.
The food is so good
Mac and cheese balls is to die for
And jerk salmon
Despite the long wait, the experience was good overall.
Everything was amazing! Great food and drinks 🥰
I place I strongly recommend going to. Everything was excellent! The ackee, saltfish and bammy were so, SO good...and my husband and I had that as an appetizer. I had the oxtail and he had the 20oz bone-in steak, which came with a huge baked potato with cheese. The owner himself came out to see how we were doing and I couldn’t rave more about the experience. Definitely a repeat visit is in order!
Great atmosphere, great food & great vibes !!!
The food was fresh, well seasoned and plentiful. The arraignment of the tables in the dining room felt spacious and open. The wait staff was attentive and helpful with menu selections. I will go back.
Everything was amazing. The food was great, the service was great, we had a great time for my sis graduation dinner
First time here and we went for dinner. The food was delicious and Mercedes, our wait staff was very attentive. She was also lots of fun. We were there for an early dinner, so no way to assess the noise level later in the evening, but we were easily able to have conversation. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Edward was our server and he was awesome. From the time we walked in they were great. Drinks were amazing. Food was so good. Perfect place to celebrate a birthday.
First off, the service was by far the best of anywhere I've been! Our waitress Renae consistently checked up on us to make sure we enjoyed our drinks and food. Other staff members also checked in on us and it was a pleasant experience from the moment we walked in. The food was amazing especially their oxtail and mac and cheese. The rum punch was also amazing. I will definitely be frequenting this restaurant!
