Our menu changes frequently as Chef passionately lives by his message, EAT LOCAL! In addition to lunch and dinner, we offer outside dining with a gorgeous view of Hobbits Glen golf course, weekend brunch, happy hour food and drink specials, a notable wine list, and more! Our neighborhood gem is a great spot for any occasion - whether you're looking for a quiet conversation, to host a casual group night out or celebrate a special occasion, we have the space and service for you!
We had a lovely brunch and everyone enjoyed their food.
We always have an outstanding experience at The Turn House. Our meals were fantastic. I had the french onion soup and the steak, my husband had oysters and and the fish. He said the fish was one of the best he has ever had... ever. That includes five trips to Maui dining at the most exclusive restaurants on the island and a more recent trip to the French Riviera where he ate fish at every meal. Yum. We are total foodies that enjoy eating at all of the top farm to table restaurants in the Baltimore/DC region and The Turn House is repeatedly one of our absolute favorites. My only request would be that they sit reservations in the more formal dining area. The last three times we went we were sat in the front room that is shared with the bar. For a romantic dinner for two with a reservation, I really prefer to not have all of the TV's around and be in a more formal, quiet area of the restaurant. I wish this front room was used for walk-ins and the main dining area was used for reservations.
The food was good quality and the service was even better! Our waiter was awesome even though we arrived fairly close to closing time. Very honest about the menu and went above and beyond to ensure our date night was superb.
I really want to love the Turn House. I got the cheese board to start, it was delicious, but the overall presentation could have been better. Just a small garnish and someone pointing out which cheese was which would have been nice. The root vegetable hash was really just large chunks of sweet and regular potatoes, I wouldn’t call that hash.
Overall the decor is lovely but the table next to us was warped and should be replaced,
The bathrooms were in desperate need of a good cleaning. The bathrooms at Columbia Mall were cleaner.
Small details do matter.
Lovely brunch experience.
A wonderful brunch at the Turn House. Great food, drinks and service, thank you Pete.
We met friends for brunch here on a Sunday. The food was good, but not spectacular. I had the Mediterranean omelette. It was not very exciting. The biscuits and honey butter they served to start the meal was fabulous! It was the highlight of my meal. My friend had the Benedict and said that it was very good. The service was slow. We waited for a long time for our check. Overall, it was a good brunch.
Overpriced and the food wasn’t up to the price
We have been multiple times at The Turn House over the last few years. The oysters are always excellent. Food is most of the time excellent too, this time they overcooked the steak. However, 7 out of 10 times we had issues with the service. From very slow to completely incompetent where I opened the wine myself since the girl had no clue how to use a corkscrew! This time the server was super slow, did not pay attention and did obviously not care. We decided not to go back for the next half a year and then give it maybe a try again. Sad, because the kitchen is good but management not. I did send them an email about our visit through their website but they did not respond...
Food in general is outstanding...wine list can be improved upon (expanded) and service of late has been polite but slow. Overall one of my go-to restaurants within the area.
Food was acceptable....crab cakes good.... server fine however, our table was near a noisy spot right next to the door in the bar with tvs all over the place.
Also we were in the pathway from the kitchen.... thought i was going to get clobbered by a tray a couple of times.
The hostess didn’t ask us if we wanted to sit in the bar.... I thought perhaps the dining room was full .... I should have asked because upon visiting the rest room I saw that it wasn’t.
Hostess needs training to make the turn house experience meet the needs of patrons.
A go to place for a relaxing evening. The food is always good and the menu changes often to keep me coming back for something different. The burgers are a staple and each is excellent, my favorite is the Turn House burger. The brisket nachos are sharable or great as you meal and the lamb meatballs should not be missed.
Tried this place for the first time this weekend and LOVED it!! The food was so good, the place is beautiful, and the service was excellent! They let us taste wine and a soup before ordering. The dishes were unique and we had a hard time deciding what to choose. I met two friends that I hadn't seen in a while and we sat at a table in the bar area...which is gorgeous. So cozy with the fireplace and the noise level was just right. I will definitely be going back soon!
Wonderful food and a great view. Couldn’t ask for much more.
This place is a gem. I'll be going back there for sure.
The food was delicious! The restaurant is gorgeous, and was decorated beautifully for the holidays! Our party ordered about 9 or 10 appetizers and split them all -- the chicken wings and the brussels sprouts were the best I've ever tasted anywhere!
Loved the atmosphere! Great food! Morgan (the server) was amazing!
The food was outstanding as was the service. The environment is beautiful and we can't wait to go outside in the spring and summer.
It was obvious the chef had phenomenal training from soup through dessert with homemade gelato that was out of this world.
Every dish we had and saw being served was prepared beautifully and it was a busy brunch morning. The portions were generous and the price very reasonable for the quality of food presented from farm to table. Even the salad can not be described best in words.... but in a photo as on their website. The photos on the website are true.
We are looking forward to returning for dinner soon.
The turn house is our favorite spot in Howard County. It’s got a laid-back neighborhood vibe, very sophisticated, yet never snobby. That’s a tough balance to find in this area and we appreciate that the turn House keeps it real.
Dry pretty restaurant with delicious food. A tiny bit pricy, but definitely worth it from time to time!
My girlfriend and I go to The Turn House once a month to eat the crispy brussel sprouts and peel & eat shrimp. We love it! Make sure you make a reservation.
Food and service were fantastic!! The ambiance was great and we were offered alternative seating to the noise bar area which was perfect.
Nice quiet facility with good food and drinks
I had a really poor experience at The Turn House about a year ago at a fundraising event that was held there. The server was very rude, and we suspect her DUMPING an enormous amount of salt on our entrees out of spite. The dish was inedible and we had paid a lot of money for the meal -- money which did not go to the organization we were supporting that night.
I decided to give the restaurant another chance, and a friend and I went for brunch. He was very excited to try their burger that was being served on an English muffin. Although the dining room in which we were seated had 1-2 other tables with customers and was very empty, the food took a long time to come out. When the burger arrived it came out on a regular bun. We asked and the server didn't know, but she took it back anyway. She brought it back on an English muffin, but we had to inquire as to what went wrong with the order -- we asked if we had misunderstood. Only then did she say that the kitchen made the mistake and they apologized. I ordered a side of the root vegetable hash, and the vegetables were very unevenly cooked. Therefore some of them felt raw and undercooked since some of them should have been started earlier/cooked longer in order that all of them were the same consistency - rather than some of them being hard and some of them being mushy and overcooked. It did not seem like the hash was freshly made either -- these were recooked from the previous days.
Overall the server wasn't terribly friendly nor happy.
The location and ambience is really lovely. It is too bad the food has been very inconsistent -- sometimes absolutely inedible, and it is a shame that some of the servers are not very nice.
The occasion was a Brunch Birthday celebration for my Daughter
The attention and friendliness of the server "Pete" was outstanding !
The atmosphere was one of rustic upscale chic and the food was a wonderful blend of familiar American fare punched up many notches.
Great but not too fussy food is the main attraction here. The kitchen especially has a way with frying - artichokes, Brussels sprouts, frites with steak. Lovely composed salads too, and large servings all around. Good quality, reasonably priced wine selections also. Service was friendly but not terribly competent - just young and relatively untrained. The second room is never as charming as the main room by the bar, especially vulnerable to neglect on a weekday night. Still, food like this is a good notch above most the of the competition in Columbia and the young staff is always very nice.
Glad to see it so full of people. Ver nice atmosphere.
Beautiful location with terrific outdoor space and seasonal menu that uses locally sourced ingredients. Fun crowd and great outdoor fire pit to relax with cocktails before and after dinner.
We Loved it! The food was SO good and our server was the best! Two of us have a long list of food allergies or sensitivities and the server and cook worked together to come up with options for us.
We look forward to returning!
Awful service. Overpriced food.
Pete was an excellent waiter. The servers and hostess were extremely polite and courteous. The crab and tomato salad was EXCELLENT!
First visit and was pleasantly surprised. Our server was excellent and the food was fresh, and delicious. We will defend return. It was a beautiful day and so we were able to eat out on the patio which I would definitely recommend.
I had friends visiting from Atlanta, Ga. The food was delicious. They really enjoyed their dining experience!
We have been going to Turn House and its predecessor for a few years now. Our last couple of visits prior to this one honestly weren't great, but after a bit of a break we decided to try it again and we are glad we did. The service, drinks and food at the bar were excellent. We will be returning.
Unfortunately didn’t actually eat our meal here. We waited over 20 minutes after being seated to be acknowledged by our waiter when he and our servers passed our table more than once. He did not apologize and almost seemed annoyed so we politely excused ourselves and walked out. It’s a shame the service has gone down hill, we’ve had good food here before.
We sat outside with our grandchildren, ages 6 and 8, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was nice that the children could run around on the grass as we waited for dinner. We had the Avocado Toast and the roasted brussel sprouts for appetizers. I would not recommend the Avocado Toast. Very difficult to cut/eat as the bread was well toasted. My husband and I each had a burger, which was excellent and the grandchildren ordered off the Children's menu, which was quite nice. Our server, Lisa, was excellent with the children. The manager stopped by our table to be certain that everything was to our liking. The restaurant has a nice menu of craft beers and specialty cocktails. Very nice neighborhood restaurant overlooking the golf course. Definitely a good place to dine.
My burger was raw :(
First time diners here. We ate outside and enjoyed the vistas. I had the TH dry aged burger...was unbelievable, so good. We'll definitely return
